I thought we should start a new thread for this year's TdF, rather than recycling (Wink) last year's thread.

If nothing else, it irritates me by saying that it starts on Friday GrinConfused

The MN league is called Mumsnet Marauders. 113428518 works to get your Velogames team into it.

@prettybird
Sorry to hear about your dad.

Thanks for the tips. I don't know Glasgow very well so will study the plan before we set off.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Pog in Glasgow this morning - front rider. All the teams are practicing the route - which is more windy that I thought. Lots of 90degree turns.

I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad, @prettybird .

Thank you for taking the time to share the photo, very well spotted. We are also planning to go to the start in Edinburgh and then head to Glasgow. We've got velodrome tickets for Monday and Wednesday evening. I am very excited and have bought myself a new raincoat in honour of the occasion.

Edinburgh is ready. Hard to believe 12 hours ago it was still very much in festival mode

Exciting race in Glasgow, every weather!

I always find it funny watching a race in a place you know - my default is the Tour and all things French :)

Managed to see them at multiple points around the course and took lots of videos. This is a still from VdP's final lap on Blythswood Street.

Managed to get into our favourite Italian restaurant (2 blocks away) in time to see the finish. Dh is watching Orla on GCN - so he's happy Wink

It's been a good day out - a good, albeit bittersweet distraction as my dad had so been looking forward to it. And I've now got telling the staff here that my dad had died out the way, which is actually a relief. He'd been coming here a looooong time.

So sorry about your dad @prettybird.
I found telling people in the sort of situation you describe very hard.

Oddly I was thinking of my dad today - he died a few years ago but I have vivid memories of watching the Commonwealth games road race when it was in Glasgow on tv and trying to explain various tactical things to him. He's from Glasgow but left as a young adult so he spent most of the time ignoring the cyclists and spotting landmarks!

I hope you and your family are ok. Here's to your dad - chapeau.
