You look gorge in black Mr Slant.

And I am trailing you Felicity by 5 points! It was a weird day yesterday wasn't it? Riding through the slush and that effort by Landa. Chapeau.
You'd think the jersey is going to be won and lost a few times and I had no idea 're bad bolognese between the Shark and Roglic.

MrPan · 25/05/2019 14:02

Some live giro! Employers wont pay for me to watch in the week. Bastards.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/05/2019 16:42

Yes looks like Nibbles and Roglic just going to follow each other about - this does however leave the possibility for someone else to take time on them while they are glaring at each other.

ToftheB · 25/05/2019 21:24

Really enjoying these mountain stages - Italy looks much more appealing with snow and blue skies than it did during all those flat, rainy days. It looks like it’s going to be a close race.

MrSlant · 28/05/2019 22:03

What a horrible stage for them today. I am so glad that Italian lad won the stage, he just looked so cold and miserable, at one point he couldn't even do his jacket up his hands were so cold and his teeth were chattering.

Not sure what to do with my team, we are only just in the bottom thousand now which I find weirdly disappointing.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 28/05/2019 22:13

Was interesting at the beginning of the highlights they discussed why Roglic lost time yesterday - because he needed his team car and they weren't there because they'd stopped for a wee, 25k from the end.

MrSlant · 28/05/2019 22:48

I've been watching it on Eurosport and Wiggins is not very complimentary about his DS. Actually really enjoying his comments about all of it, he really has no filter Grin. Poor Roglic, but if he needs a hug apparently Brad is there for him!

MrPan · 29/05/2019 08:28

I know MrSlant - you've been slightly improving in the last few days of racing, and yes it's a bit disappointing. A wonderfully attractive humiliation is sliding away isn't it? Damn.

Totally missed yesterday - am hoping it's more hills this week, it's just fab as they are pinned variously across a mountain and the motorbikes (incl those weirdy 3 wheeled ones) don't really know who to focus on. Bike

iNeverFinishAnyth · 29/05/2019 08:37

Really enjoyed the Mortirolo stage, some fascinating racing. Glad Ciccone won, he was getting so cross with Hirt who was under team orders to not work.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 29/05/2019 18:10

I like the weirdy 3 wheeled bikes. They had them in Yorkshire (and one of them couldn't get up a particularly steep bit!).

Bradley Wiggins needs socks. His ankles look cold.

lljkk · 29/05/2019 19:09

Is anyone watching Giro highlights on Quest; why does Wiggins wear a white rose every day? I thought he lived in Lancashire (red rose county?)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/05/2019 20:30

I’m watching the highlights on Quest - although I am finding it a bit discombobulating to be watching grand tour cycling without the dulcet tones of the ITV4 commentators. It just feels wrong.

I must admit I am fast forwarding though the studio bits at the beginning, to get to the actual cycling, so have no idea why Sir Brad is wearing a white rose and no socks.

MrPan · 31/05/2019 08:59

Am tending to watch the coverage v early in the morning on Eurosport - the one that ends at 5.30am. And wasn't that a cruel break away? Done in the last 100mtres. I agree with Magnusson that Ackerman was belting his handlebars in frustration at being pipped, not in celebration of pipping Demare.
Is a white rose associated with Brad's bike company??

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2019 09:44

I've been watching on & off from the home of the Giro itself - mostly when it's raining, which it's been doing far too much for the time of year. It certainly gives it an extra flavour listening to it in Italian, even though I can't understand a word. The commentators got very excited at the end of yesterday's stage Grin

MrPan · 31/05/2019 12:03

Wow DA, in Italy. Sorry it's raining so much. Ae you north, south or central? Please tell me you've eloped to get married in Florence with a local peasant? Who rides a Bike.

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2019 17:43

Haha Pan Grin We are in the south, where the locals have been telling us it's been the worst May weather for 10 years. I'm with DH, having persuaded him to put his Bike away & come on holiday with me, so eloping with a Florentine peasant will have to wait for another time Wink

MrSlant · 31/05/2019 22:38

So are you able to get on velogames from Italy DA? Just asking for a friend...

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2019 22:46

Yes, MrSlant. Tell your 'friend' I have no problem accessing Velogames from Italy, and that I can see I am sadly now at the bottom of the MN league... Wink

MrSlant · 31/05/2019 23:00

Sorry not sorry.

Grin Bike Grin

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2019 23:06

I think my team and I have been overdoing the pasta & wine this year. Stern words will need to be had, though it's a bit late now

Grin
MrSlant · 02/06/2019 13:23

So odd watching a fine stage of a big tour without the staged ride into a big city. Must be a bit of an anticlimax for some, just ride over the end of the tt and you're done.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/06/2019 13:54

Yes - that seems rather odd to me too, @MrSlant.

MrPan · 02/06/2019 19:57

I'm sorry for your recovery MrSlant.

Yes quite weird and no atmosphere?? That was funny giro. And a fight at the end!! Never seem that before.

MrSlant · 02/06/2019 22:56

I'm quite devastated, thank you for your kind words MrPan.

Odd day, felt for the poor riders, for the ones who had really laid it down on the road having to avoid crashing into the barriers on the turn into the stadium after the finish then ride onto the stage must have been no fun at all. Was over the moon for Chad Hagers though, after that hideous training crash it was obviously a hugely emotional moment I didn't cry, honest.

Loved seeing the Equadorian rider win, I had ignored him as the one who holds the pink jersey before the big guns take it for the finish which probably explains why my velogames team was quite so meh.

MrSlant · 12/06/2019 22:35

Didn't know whether to post here or start an early Tour thread but I'm devastated for Froome. Sounds like he's suffered quite horrific injuries today, I know it is the world of cycling and these things seem to happen with sickening regularity but the Tour won't seem the same without him. I really, really hope he can come back from this and it isn't a career threatening injury. Horrible.
