Plimsolls. From Home Counties.

DD who is being brought up in Bristol, Daps.

When nursery asked us to send in some daps I went in to work and asked the team what it meant. The locals were Confused and knew what they were. The non locals were just Confused.

In my house its pumps. My posh SIL says plimsols. Both born in Midlands.

Yorkshire Dp calls them pumps. It sets my teeth on edge so the children do it too. grrrrrer!

Gym shoes or sand shoes depending on context in my posh southern upbringing.

Black Sannies SW Scotland - I remember having to wear them for the first couple of days of term because the "clothing grant" hadn't come through (1960's) so we didn't had have our school shoes yet - my wee mum had quite a few of us in school and we had a waste of space dad - she was mortified that we had to do this :)

Pumps, kept in your pump bag with the rest of your PE kit (Leeds). My DC call them daps, kept in your dap bag with the rest of your PE kit (wiltshire). I had no idea what daps were supposed to be when I arrived here.

They were plimsolls when I was growing up in West London (trainers didn't exist then, Dunlop Green Flash tennis shoes were as sporty as it got Grin)

After 30+ years in Lancs, they are now pumps
