I don't have an answer but I am going to see her soon

CatIsSleepy · 10/04/2008 13:28

don't have the cd
did down-load 'rockferry'. not the kind of music i tend to listen to as a rule but love this song.
does that help?

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:29

i wondered who she appeals to

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:30

OP posts:
CatIsSleepy · 10/04/2008 13:32

I don't know either really
but she does have an amazing voice
think the music is a bit too 60s retro for me though (she says glibly not having heard more than 2 tracks)

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:33

risk taker moi

a really cool attractive intelligent person would have this cd.

KMUN · 10/04/2008 13:35

I would say, the type of people who liked David Gray back in the day, and before that Portishead. No judgements, just one of those ubiquitous dinner-party zeitgeist thingies.

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:36

lol

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:39

not david grey

yuk

possibly portishead

i just thought of someone else

oh macy grey

actually there is a slight phil spector vibe on one of the tracks i have on now

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:40

distant dreamer is the phil spectorish track

OP posts:
lilibet · 10/04/2008 13:40

Never heard of Portishead!

We are going to see her in May and other concerts attended/planned this year are Steve Earle, Kris Kristopherson, Billy Bragg and Bryn Terfel in The Dream of Gerontius! Last year we saw Al Green and he was wonderful.

Why do we have to have limited tastes?

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:41

of course i am well able to remember the 60s

OP posts:
Bobbiewickham · 10/04/2008 13:41

Lulu fans.

That's who.

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 13:42

oh we dont have to have limited tastes mine are very broad ranging

except i dont get classical music at all

so not so broad ranging

but most pop has a slot

it is quite lounge late night in places eg serious

OP posts:
moondog · 10/04/2008 13:57

She's from up the road.
You should have seen her whe she won Welsh language version of Pop Factor or whatever it's called.

Great voice but she isn't doing anything that wasn't done 40 years ago only a million types better.

The kind of people who buy it are the kind of people who don't really like music at all .They would also have stuff like Simple Red's Greatest Hits and Coldplay in their collection.

motherinferior · 10/04/2008 14:02

Oh, I rather like her, dammit. She's Dusty-lite enough to pass the time. And also she is a kind of compromise for Mr Inferior and me to reach, musically, along with Mr Springsteen and Mr Jagger (although clearly not of their ilk, obviously).

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 14:02

was she on a talent show? i know absolutely zilch about her

i just thought i liked mercy so i bought the cd kind of thinking that its not really what i would buy normally

i dont have simply red

think i did have a coldplay cd once

probably the first

i know nothing about music so you are right there tho

OP posts:
Boco · 10/04/2008 14:03

moondog my dp says that - Nora Jones, Katie Melua etc, he says is music for people who don't actually like music.

zippitippitoes · 10/04/2008 14:05

is that a little music superiority snobbish attitude tho

i hate the you cant like something cos it is not right to like it stuff
