What films make you laugh til you cry?

The last film that made me all snotty from laughing like a crazy person was Little Miss Sunshine. Made even funnier by the fact i was watching it in my village hall, and was the youngest person there by 40 years, and no one else was finding it very funny.

Before that Bottle Rocket made me cry laughing alot - i loved it, but have never met anyone else whose seen it.

What films make you laugh so much it hurts?

Haven't seen it for a while, but I remember finding The Life of Brian very funny. Also, Happy Texas.

something about mary, meet the parents / fockers.

Somebody told mt they thought I'd like Borat - anyone find it funny ?

collision · 27/04/2007 17:59

Watched BORAT last night and we were aching by the end of it.

It is soooooooooo funny but a lot of people would take offense so it is not the sensitive.

But it was hilarious!!

Boco · 27/04/2007 17:59

Hooray Prunerli!

The life aquatic has to be the best of all! God i love Ned. I wish i was a member of team Zissou, and could wear all the matching outfits and run around having adventures.

Rushmore was brilliant too, but bottle rocket made me laugh more, especially the botched job they do.

Wes anderson is great - apparently he's doing another film with Owen wilson at the moment

Life of Brian, Withnail and I, Borat, Airplane, Naked Gun, Saving Grace, Wayne's World. And the Steve martin films...
God I'm sophisticated, me

spudmasher · 27/04/2007 18:04

Borat for me too. OMG. Hilarious. So funny I even watched it with my mum and dad

DumbledoresGirl · 27/04/2007 18:07

I don't think I have watched too many films that have really cracked me up since I was a child. In those days though, I used to fall about at Norman Wisdom films - I love slapstick comedy - while my mother used to look at me like this:

Also, I am a sucker for double entendre so all those Carry On films can still make me smile as an adult, especially Sid James and Kenneth Williams.

collision · 27/04/2007 18:11

Not sure I could watch Borat with my family but DH and I were weeping with laughter last night.

How he got away with it I will never know.

foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 18:13

the National Lampoons used to make me laugh - especially the European one.

Love the Steve Martin films (though weirdly, dh doesn't at all) - esp Parenthood.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles and The Great Outdoors (both Jon Candy) made me laugh

as did some of the old Chevy Chase films like Fletch, Caddyshack, Spies Like Us.

foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 18:14

oh and the Pink Panther films. And The Party (with Peter Sellers) - can still get me howling with laughter for some reason!

allieBongo · 27/04/2007 18:23

dumb and dumber, me myself and irene, king pin, see no evil, hear no evil. the list is endless

Fabian · 27/04/2007 19:51

So I married and Axe Murderer - old Mike Myers film .....

allieBongo · 27/04/2007 22:18

fabian, I love that too.

well, since none of you know my true identity, I feel I can confess that
the Police Academy films used to have me in stitches.

also blazing saddles, planes trains, a terrible film called better off dead.

i've got a kind of 80s thing going here; let me change tack-
wayne's world
cheech and chong films

my all-time tears running down face with laughter was posted by donnie- mel brookes' The Producers.

though not a film, i also always laugh when i think of reeves and mortimer's "nicole, papa" routine. anyone see/ remember that?
