April Jones.

They pulled down the house where they think she was murdered.
It was the finding of bone fragments in the fireplace that really got to me.
Poor, poor child.

BakedandBroken · 15/11/2025 19:28

It’s Sarah Everard for me too. I just think of the sheer terror she must have felt when she realised what was happening when she was handcuffed in the police car. Horrendous crime.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/11/2025 19:29

Claudia Lawrence. The police think someone out there knows what happened to her and they don’t say stuff like that without a reason. They need to speak up.

Maddy70 · 15/11/2025 19:29

James bulgar shocked me to the core

Keith Bennett. Still out on the moor and needs to be found and buried with or near to his mother.

It was so sad, his mum Winnie never lost hope. How cruel she never had that closure

Linnytwinny · 15/11/2025 19:31

Alesha mcphail. Her killer was only 16. He said when he saw her he thought non stop about killing her.

I honestly think that some people get inluenced by negative energies/demons.

Pyjamatimenow · 15/11/2025 19:32

James Bulger
Sarah Everard
Bebe, Elsie and Alice

dontletmedownbruce · 15/11/2025 19:34

Reading this thread really highlights how prevalent crimes against women are 😢

No it doesn’t.

The fact that there are a lot of repeats highlights how rare these type of events are. If they wee common you’d get a much wider range of responses.

muggart · 15/11/2025 19:39

the victim of nicholas crilley in bisbane. she is still alive so anonymous but she went through such an awful ordeal that i think of her sometimes and hope she is doing okay.

TansySorrel · 15/11/2025 19:41

Victoria Climbie and Arthur Labinjo- Hughes.

Government pledges to protect more women from violence

This International Women’s Day, the government has reiterated its commitment to halving violence against women and girls in a decade.

I agree with many on here and there are a lot I hadn’t heard of. The mentions of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes reminded me of Logan Mwangi.

Are you a bot, OP?

Every single one of your posts is like this one and you never return. 🤨

Or worse. Some nutter who wants to be the next big "notorious killer" and wants to know what has been the most memorable..........

Well I think many of us talk about the famous cases as it is more difficult to talk about people that we actually knew.

I went to primary school and was friends with a girl who was murdered by her male neighbour when she was 12.

I dont think about it because i block it out as its too painful.

It is very prevalent

Algoquick · 15/11/2025 19:53

Most mentioned above including the children. Daniel Pelka sticks in my mind a lot.
When I was young (1981), a girl a similar age (5yrs) was murdered by someone who lived nearby. I lived not too far away but didn’t know her. Her body was found in his attic. My mum brought me to her funeral. I remember missing school because of it and reflecting now, I think my mother didn’t want to go alone. I still remember her 44 yrs later.

Maybe its someone who is dark and twisted themselves

ohyesido · 15/11/2025 20:03

Anneli Alderton and the other girls killed by the Suffolk Strangler. I worked with Anneli’s brother.

RaraRachael · 15/11/2025 20:13

weegiemum · 15/11/2025 18:01

I can’t remember her last name but when I was about 12 a girl of the same age called Susan was abducted and murdered by a serial killer quite close to where I lived. He also killed a wee girl from Edinburgh.

i am also a Susan, rode my bike to my friends houses and was the same age. Its never left me. Thank goodness they caught the bastard who did it.

Susan Maxwell. She and 2 other wee girls killed by serial killer van driver. I think it was later discovered he'd killed another girl in Nortthetn Ireland.

James Bulger. My daughter was the same age.
I remember being quite young when Lesley Whittle was murdered and not fully realising how she'd died
Bibaa and Nicole. How awful to be having such a lovely time celebrating a birthday and there's some maniac out in the middle of the night who decides he needs to kill people.

Linnytwinny · 15/11/2025 20:13

I think some pervert started this thread.

The two students Grace and Barnaby and caretaker Ian Coates killed in Nottingham two years ago. My son was at UON at the time. Still upsets me if I think about it.

Arthur Labinjo-Hughes - the details
of his neglect and death were utterly horrific. The fact it happened during lockdowns when the people who could have spotted the signs were not there will never not make me furious.

This little boy has haunted me, I was so furious and distressed by it. So many missed opportunities to save him. The police even threatened to arrest the family for breaking covid rules if they attempted to go to the house. I even wrote to the Children's Commissioner, I was so incandescent with rage.
