My husband hacked and being blackmailed

My husband received an email this morning stating his full name and quoting back one of his passwords. The guy says unless he pays over 1900 dollars in bitcoins they will start contacting his contacts.

Obviously we know we need to report this but can any one tell us to who. Obvs emergency services stretched so if anyone knows it there is a direct line email for a cybercrime we'd be glad of the advice.

Thanks in advance

I’m another that’s had it, given I haven’t accessed porn it did amuse me.

It did scare me for about 2 seconds and then logic kicked in. Just changed passwords. Apparently all my contacts and Facebook friends (don’t have Facebook) should see my videos now.

Think logically, our inboxes would be full of videos if this was true.

Rebelwithallthecause · 21/04/2020 08:56

He’s obviously been looking at some not nice stuff if he panics when he gets a scan email through like this

Most people would just ignore and delete

Lordfrontpaw · 21/04/2020 10:13

Well I don’t know - I never look at anything but it’s still worrying to see your password in the hands of scamming Shitbags. And scammers aren’t exactly fine upstanding humans who are completely above creating fake videos or browsing histories are they?

HavartiToSeeYou · 21/04/2020 11:21

They aren’t going to create fake videos. They don’t even know what you look like. They send this email to hundreds of thousands of people.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/04/2020 11:27

They don't need to fake anything! Grab a snip of some badly shot/lit mass orgy scene from an amateur porn video and send to everyone in your address book (assuming they had the capability - but then my sister's email was hacked and 'she' was sending out spam like crazy).

Of course they don't and it's a scam but can you imagine if they threatened to do that!

2Vicar, I've had a rather interesting email with some shocking footage supposedly taken at the retreat you went on last year...2

Lordfrontpaw · 21/04/2020 11:28

(not that I've been thinking how to do this or anything...)

squishedgrapes · 21/04/2020 11:30

I've had this email a few times. It's nothing. Mine quoted an old password I no longer use so I ignored it.

lovinglavidaloca · 21/04/2020 11:34

Has your poor hubby had to confess his porn watching because of this? Grin

nowaitaminute · 21/04/2020 11:41

I know loads of ppl who got this in the last few weeks and they all also downloaded the zoom App just before it happened!! Might be a coincidence but I don't trust zoom anyway!!

Lordfrontpaw · 21/04/2020 11:56

Oh I had just downloaded zoom too...

BertieBotts · 21/04/2020 12:05

I got this months ago before I'd ever heard of zoom
