Would love to hear from others tackling this challenge.

I've had a really productive evening -written over 2400 words and am now on 44 151 words total. 88% of the way there!

NanoTime · 23/11/2023 17:14

Goodness you’re about to cross the finish line!

meanwhile from somewhere in the middle of the pack: 38,346 and 77%

I keep writing myself into ridiculous corners but it leads to the most fun part, getting out of them again

Well done!

I've had a very slow evening tonight, but I did manage a couple of hundred words just so I could update and get my updated 21 days in a row badge. I've now got that and feel the pressure is off. 50k is the last badge for me to get now and I've got less than 5000 words to do in 6 days.

CoodleMoodle · 24/11/2023 21:41

Just crossed the 40k barrier too! Always pleased to make it this far, it feels like a big milestone.

NanoTime · 25/11/2023 09:43

It’s a wonderful feeling. I’m at 41,683 and wearing my winner shirt already.

I love this part of the narrative too, my amateur sleuth has almost solved the murders though she doesn’t know it yet. I’ve only got two chapters to go and they’re the most satisfying to write.✒️

I'm a long way behind at 32k but will keep going.

Weekends are my best writing time and this is the last one. No matter the outcome I'm still happy with what I've achieved. I've written every single day and have exceeded my original target of 25k.

Well done, everyone!

MargaretThursday · 25/11/2023 22:05

I've just finished, but feeling a bit dissatisfied as I'm not happy with the writing. It hasn't flowers this time.

NanoTime · 27/11/2023 10:44

Well done weefella, an extra 7k words is great. Congratulations to MargaretThursday too, will you keep working on it until you’re happy with the writing?

I’m at 45,164 and have just written the final chapter. It leaps six months ahead and is really the start of the next book, but most of the preceding chapters are pretty lean so perhaps I’ll use the next three days to flesh them out.

weefella · 27/11/2023 21:27

I managed to get much more writing done over the weekend than expected - 5k yesterday and just over 4k today.

I'm still trying to reach today's target but I'm at 43,135 words so far. I'm starting to think that I might have a chance at hitting 50k after all.

Congratulations to anyone who has already passed the finish line, and best of luck to those of you who are still pushing forward!

GwenogJones · 27/11/2023 23:36

49334! I've had a really good evening's writing tonight. Over 2000 words. Hopefully I'll cross the finish line tomorrow (though my story will only be a quarter of the way done!)

Late to this thread but I'm doing it, just over 10k words so far. Haven't missed a day. Have tried 3 years running and never done this well. Here's planning on a win!!

This was me. Name changed. Anyway, I'm at 63k now! I can't believe it's actually happened. Still going as my book isn't anywhere near finished. This is by far the most I've written in a month! Chuffed.

Well done everyone, the hardest bit is keeping on.

NanoTime · 28/11/2023 14:54

I wonder what our combined total will be by the end of November?

I feel completely burnt out and I’m only at 46,691 so far. Hard work today.

MargaretThursday · 28/11/2023 19:08

@NanoTime
I think I'll go for a complete rewrite. I know better what I'm wanting now.

GwenogJones · 28/11/2023 23:19

Done! (as in I've reached 50 000 words in a month, not as in I'm anywhere near the end of the story)

NanoTime · 29/11/2023 07:21

Makes sense MargaretThursday, I will have quite a lot of rewriting to do too but I'm mostly pushing ahead with the next book while the ideas are fresh. My first draft is slightly too long for a novella, yet too short for a novel, and it probably needs more characters and subplots.

48,360. Woke up practically in the middle of the night to put a little flesh on the bones of a particularly lean early chapter, then wrote a few hundred more words of a new story.

NanoTime · 29/11/2023 07:23

Congratulations GwenogJones and writingwriting, I can't wait to join you on the winners' podium!

AdamRyan · 29/11/2023 09:23

I'm not going to win, but I knew when I started I wouldn't. Wanted to get to 30K, at 27 now. Going to try to get over it today. Its been fun

GwenogJones · 29/11/2023 21:32

weefella · 29/11/2023 22:26
