Anyone writing a novel this November?
I've signed up for my first try!
I'm doing some planning and outlining at the moment and looking forward to starting.

Isn't it great!

And great to hear that Ninah is also reading Donald Maas.

Brilliant, Sugarme! Are you the first person on the thread to get halfway?

I have a new creative writing book crush now - The Anatomy of Story by John Truby. No point in anyone reading it now but I think when it comes to the big post-NaNo redraft for anyone who wants to take their book further, it could be useful.

I do love Donald Maas and am currently pondering his stuff about characters of 'high moral worth'. My last book was absolutely stuffed with them but what with being set at the Tudor court my new one is not.... Confused

Good luck with secretly writing in your staff meeting, Ninah!

Congratulations Tunip! That's fantastic news! :o

I almost caught up at the weekend after writing an extra 5k. I've fallen behind again though and am still at 16k.

I'll get there eventually :)

At 33k now, my outline has changed a lot though so having to plan as I go. I know how I want it to end but having to make small changes to make it flow.
I'm actually looking forward to redrafting as I keep having moments of knowing a better way for the story to go, so having to stop myself from editing now and wait to do all that. If anyone read the story as it is it wouldn't make much sense, I'm just making little notes where I need to make changes.
I have 4 days off work so will be getting most down between now and then but then I have other commitments so hopefully I'm well enough ahead of schedule that it wont matter much.

Wow Alotta, you're well on the way!
You could have a rewriting and editing thread afterwards like some of us did last time.

I always plan to do a rewrite when nano has finished, usually around January but uni work always get in the way. If I can keep on track with uni work then I will spend a little time redrafting.
On the plus side this is my last year of uni so I will have plenty of time to spend on writing come June Grin

So who reckons they are still in the game?

Alotta, Coppertop, Sugarme - anyone else?

Report
coppertop · 19/11/2013 14:15

I'm behind but still hopeful. :o

Just over 25k so far. I'm hoping to catch up by the end of this week.

How's everyone else doing?

I am getting by at 31k but have got an awful cold and just want to take time off from it all. Think am running myself down with late nights. But the end is so near - must battle on!

Great news tunip (and I have ordered myself anatomy of story for my Christmas stocking!).

Well am still on 3700 where I've been for the last week BUT pg hormones finally dropping, 15k race done on Sunday and reports and marking finished as well. All a weight off my mind and maybe means I can focus on Nano a bit more?

Of course, in order to win this year I will have to write nearly 4000 a day which is highly unlikely given that I have a lesson observation on Tuesday and a toddler...err..everyday!

Still, am going to type up the bits I wrote by hand on the road and in the hospital and maybe that will get me a little back on track. I'd love to at leastget to the halfway mark this year by the end of November (all 12 days of it!)

Well I've been on a roll the past few days and reached 43k, this is the best I've ever done, I usually struggle in the last 2 weeks.

I noticed yesterday my house is suffering from neglect though, I've been doing minimum amount of housework I could get away with. Will have to have a big post-Nano tidy.

I'm just going to keep plugging away while I have ideas in my head but I can relax a bit and concentrate on uni assignment (even though I don't want to!)

I've fallen massively behind due to both me and DD being ill. Sad Only at the 25k mark but I'm actually on a bit of a roll since I managed 5k yesterday despite being at work all day and studying in the evening. Smile

Well done Tunip by the way!

Just over 30k so far.

I'm still behind but I think I'll be able to catch up.

I'm on 36k words. Finally caught up after a busy patch at the beginning of the month and now trying to get ahead as I'm busy to the end (invcluding writing an OU essay (28th) and attending the first day of a fostering course (30th).

I lost a study day today as DD1 is too ill for school. I have it too but I can type through a cough. If she goes to bed nicely in a minute I should do OU work and not novelling. If she's a pickle who comes down every ten minutes, for an hour, with another question I shall do NaNo. Grin

Hi everyone, I have been busy typing and have managed to cross the 50K goal. word count is now 50106!
I'm off to have a celebratory coffee and then have to start tidying as my house has also been a little on the neglected side!
Keep going (if you want to) there's still a week left and anything you do have is more than you had a month ago. x

Ninah, sorry to hear that. Let's have a first draft motivation thread later when we have more time. I'm STILL researching and don't feel ready to write.

Well done to all the NaNo-ists still in the game!
So Alotta is in the lead, with Elfy, Coppertop and others going strong!

Unfortunately I've had work and a bad cold so feel absolutely wrecked and haven't wrote a word since Thursday. Going to do some now as not planning on moving today!

I als have an OU essay due on the 28th Elfy, I haven't wrote a word of it yet but have done all my notes. Why is it a 2000 word essay seems impossible and yet I can manage 50000 words every November with barely a problem?

I'm trying to stay in the habit of writing at least 1000 words a day so just going to keep on writing when I can.

Well done Sugarme!
