Anyone watching the new series of the Irish Traitors?

If Carla's smart, she'll push for keep on women only as the murder victim - it's beneficial for her. Not so much Paraic - him being a man. Though he could use it to go for Sam - focusing on the fact he took out mostly men from the coffins.

At this point do you think the Faithfuls might feel there's been a recruitment? The assumption being there was the standard three traitors and they've got two out now. (Which has made me think just, they've not talked about - or we've not been shown them talking about - Siobhán saying the recruitment not having being done at the selection table.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 07/09/2026 07:30

I would have assumed there were be a recruitment too so I'm guessing they will all come to the same conclusion. They'll be watching each other like hawks for any change in personality.

SavageGardenAreUnderated · 07/09/2026 13:32

Yes. V surprised when she came in and said about death list (or whatever it was called) . Was full sure they'd be offered recruitment

Crazybooklady · 07/09/2026 23:58

Tonight episode was brilliant! I wouldn’t be surprised if Aoife just said “no thanks” to becoming a traitor.

JaneJeffer · 08/09/2026 01:56

Finally caught up with the last two episodes even though I saw that Fionula was caught when I accidentally saw it in here!

Did DJ make himself look sus by voting for Aoife when Paraic had basically just told them he was a traitor? Why did he do that?

JeremiaBoogle · 08/09/2026 04:09

What's that story with Sam, DJ, Donal and Denis being on 'death row', if Aoife opts for murder? How does that work!?

I mean i don't think anyone in any version has opted for murder over recruitment (though I've not seen all versions so maybe they have) but she could very well, as she's sure she's next to be banished.

If she does go for recruitment and gets banished, everyone will lose their minds!! If i was in the castle, I'd probably start to think the majority were traitors 😂

JaneJeffer · 08/09/2026 12:26

Pete has sadly lost the traitor spotting skills he started out with.

Yeah he's too fixated on Aoife as a traitor, and frustratingly if she's recruited and then banished they'll all think they had it right but they actually had it so wrong.
I'm impressed with Dennis getting Pauric K so right. There's definitely a few paying way more attention to subconscious body language then I've seen in previous series

JaneJeffer · 08/09/2026 13:11

Anna is quietly observing people as well but the problem is that quietness is seen as suspicious in general, and specifically on this show!

Where does Diego get all his lovely jumpers? I bet they cost a few bob.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 08/09/2026 16:56

If Aoife goes for murder she goes out with her head held high. I think she would be foolish to allow recruitment unless she plays the game well. She could mention Carla a lot, she could literally make shit up about her at the round table like saying stuff Carla had told her etc and Carla won't be able to properly retaliate. Chances are she will still be banished but she will have done her part too. There is also a chance that she will manage to save herself by casting suspicion elsewhere. If she takes the offer and just goes about her business she will be banished and will have played a very poor game.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 08/09/2026 16:57

@BoolabusDenis to be fair was excellent, absolutely spot on in everything he said.

I looked up the duck hoodie (it's from Pellador - who I've never heard of if I'm honest) . It's €135.

Not really noticed any other of his tops. Probably similar price range.

JeremiaBoogle · 08/09/2026 18:32

Dennis is interesting. You so often get people on Traitors, who claim they are the best at reading people and they tend to get it very wrong, based on nosense like Laura's drinking the whole glass of water. Denis hasn't made such a bold claim, yet is observing and interpreting body language (so far) correctly.

I've always thought it would be great to have an aftershow which had psychoanalysis explain the contestants behaviour. (Don't watch uncloaked- but have assumed they don't have such guests!!)

So weird I was just looking at their stone wall jumper yesterday (can you tell I’m from the west?). Can’t afford it anyway Grin

JeremiaBoogle · 08/09/2026 22:48

Enjoyed that - Carla messed up by telling Aoife she'd recruited her to have her banished. Obvious Aoife was going to do that as soon as she said didn't point out Carla as being a faithful at the table.

I'm aware I might be in the in the minority as I did enjoy a different series when someone ekse gave a parting gift.

Kidsandhouse · 08/09/2026 22:58

Carla... has a previous/existing relationship with who she's going to recruit next? Is that too outrageous a theory???

JeremiaBoogle · 09/09/2026 06:53

Doubt there's any preexisting relationship in there. We as the public would know by now. She's meaning one of men that she feels she's built a relationship with and they will have her back - Sam or David maybe? (Think I've the right names!)

Whoever it is, I think she's doomed. They won't stick by her. Especially if it's one in the so called "boys club" (and i think it will be). I think he will work to get her out next then recruit another man. Doubt he'll have to try too hard - Carla's messed up with thinking through recruiting someone just to throw them under the bus!!

JeremiaBoogle · 09/09/2026 07:03

Also, just to add, Pauric O - painful!!!

RosasDanceRosas · 09/09/2026 09:02

I’m finding it weirdly unengaging this year. I’m not sure whether it’s just Traitors fatigue (though I’ve only watched the UK and Irish ones), or that I gelled less with the personalities this year. Other than having wanted to strangle Denis Orange Hat and both Paurics, and having a bit of a grá for Fionula because of The Young Offenders, I don’t care who wins. I’m not warming to Carla at all, despite her success so far. Diego seems permanently half-asleep, Donal is weirdly passive, Kayleigh seems permanently outraged, Janet only seems to be a mesmerising fringe, Gráinne and Anna had/have no airtime, Pauric O is awful, and the rest seem to fall into an undifferentiated mass of amiable masculinity.

I miss Paudie.

UncleColm · 09/09/2026 09:32

I think Carla will pick Pete....and that could be interesting - I reckon they will put 2:and 2 together and work out that Carla is a Traitor. Her picking Aoife was very short sighted.

honeyrider · 09/09/2026 10:11

I like Pete, Sam and Kayleigh, so so about Carla, sorry for Donal.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 09/09/2026 14:37

Dare I say it but I think there is a bit of unconscious bias there regarding Carla. They are massively underestimating her and I think her accent is part of it. She sounds less educated and they are presuming that means less intelligent. Her innocent and a bit dumb act isn't being questioned much so far. Anyone else agree?

JeremiaBoogle · 09/09/2026 14:51

I feel like she'll definitely chose one of the Boys' Club.

She then go and, unless there's the bromance ia upset the possible last four will be Pete, Sam, Ian and Pauric O. With two of them trators.

My prediction as a big Traitors fan. Please note, I have been (very) wrong in the past. 🤣

Aoife's parting shot/s made me think about the rules on what you're allowed to say -- you're not allowed to tell someone the identity of a traitor, obviously, but how close to the wire can you go in terms of hints and pointers in your final round table and parting speech? What about staring directly at someone at the round table or in your final speech? Aoife's, frustratingly, while very pointed, seems to be being ignored, whereas I seem to remember that in the past a banished traitor's last vote was taken as gospel?

And she basically said that she'd only been recruited the night before in that remark in her departing speech about putting on a cosy cloak the night before, so you'd think people would put two and two together a bit, rather than banishing people on the grounds of drinking water or eye contact or whatever.

I don't think Carla is being some kind of traitor genius, actually. I think she's quite a blunt instrument. What struck me with that scene at the firepit where she gave Aoife the option of being recruited or being murdered is that she didn't even make any pretence of doing anything other than recruiting her to be banished immediately. She didn't try to be funny, or charming, or do anything of the things I've seen other recruiting traitors do to ease a slightly messy moment where you're offering someone an impossible choice because you know, and they know you know, that you're widely suspected and are in a weak position. She was basically 'Look, make up your mind, will you?' And sure, it went as planned to an extent, in that it bought Carla another day, but it did give Aoife time to plan her departure. A cleverer traitor would have acted more.

The group are idiots if they don't pay attention to Aoife's last vote and exactly what she said in her parting speech. And if they don't that's on them being dopey rather than on Carla being particularly good. Anyone looking at her after Aoife left would have seen her looking very rattled while everyone else was leaping about.

Might Kayleigh, Janet and/or the postal worker (Anna?) who's said almost nothing to date possibly upset the Boys' Club?
