Evening All

Not sure how much I spent yesterday. Some drinks in the pub and £5 on a Toblerone. Today has been £3.35 on a TGTG that was bagels, bagels and more bagels. And a falafel baguette.

Thank you @Lockin26 and @Frugal25. I have spent today working on an application. Intend to do the same tomorrow and Friday. Sorry your mum is unwell.

Thank you for the hug @DirtyGertiefromno30 and glad your mum is ok.

Met up with a work friend yesterday we went to an exhibition, had dinner in the pub and went to the theatre. She bought dinner and I bought drinks. She is also being made redundant. Today I went out to collect the TGTG and that’s it. Still not been back to the gym. My leg is not happy at all but I just cannot manage to drag myself there.

Frugal25 · 03/06/2026 18:06

Ooohhh what exhibition and what was on at the theater @RumBananaSundae? The gym isn't going anywhere. It will still be standing when you go back.
Can you freeze the bagels?

So I was looking through the fridge for other bits to put on the pasta (found feta) and had to throw out 4 easy peelers and 4 apricots. Sigh. I'll do better.

It's easily done @Frugal25 🙄.
l threw out a whole cauliflower ,a pot of cottage cheese and a 4 pint of milk on Monday when l cleaned the fridge freezers out 😱 that's about a fivers worth down the drain and l hate wasting anything. I need to do better 😤

Hi, I have a regular saver with nationwide which is 6.5%. it's just matured and I've made £83 interest from putting in £200 a month for a year. So I've set up another one, exactly the same.

Frugal25 · 04/06/2026 10:16

Ooohhh @Alwaysgrowing I haven't seen this savings pot..... I will have a look now and switch my savings over I think. Thank you.

£80 in lidl. I forgot my list. So DD and I played a game "can mummy remember everything". Yes. Yes she can. Apart from lentils but I have some in the cupboard so I'm ok.
£7 on milk and more as I haven't used my account and they said they would close it if I didn't use it. So DD and I have croissants and apple juice coming Saturday morning.
And due to the weather we are just off to an indoor soft play. The plan was to go to the park (free) but this weather means spending pennies on indoor activities.
We shall go now and come back for lunch to save pennies.

Alwaysgrowing · 04/06/2026 10:24

I've always been with nationwide and they're really good at the moment, for savings interest rates. There's a 5% bond too, that I can put more savings in. currently I've got an 18 months one but the one available now is 15 months. I keep getting random fairer share payments of a few 100 pounds.

Frugal25 · 04/06/2026 11:07

Ooohhhh I've only just joined them and I'm loving it so far. I used to be with Lloyd's and so glad I left. Esp after yesterday!
I haven't had a £100 yet so we'll done you!!!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/06/2026 14:05

Updated to add £12 for lunch out, I succumbed to the cafe in soft play.
£4.75 to post a birthday gift. Thankfully the gift was free.
£47 roughly on Christmas presents that I found on vinted and snapped up.
£6.99 on the new book I've been waiting for and today it was released.

Sigh. It had better be a week of NSDs for me.

I did list a few bits on vinted so fingers crossed.

So glad your mum is ok @DirtyGertiefromno30weather is pants here too. But grass is still looking amazing 😍

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/06/2026 18:36

Ah thank you re my Mum that's so lovely of you ❤️. That is brilliant on the Vinted Christmas present buys @Frugal25 😊😁. Pray tell what book are you reading? I am on Agatha Christie short stories ATM . I tried to read her books that she wrote as Mary Westmacott but l just couldn't get on with them , they were well written but not what l thought they would be . Hey ho l will stick with the short stories for now 😁.

Just checking in as I've missed a few days.
@RumBananaSundae hope the applications are going well and then you can perhaps spend the weekend doing nice things for you.
Good thinking on the Vinted Christmas presents @Frugal25
That's a great rate @Alwaysgrowing
@DirtyGertiefromno30 pleased DM is okay. Weather has been mixed here, quite windy. Picked a load for the tip up from DMs earlier on my lunch break, felt smug that I went straight to the tip and it was shut likely due to the wind!

This week has been generally low spend. I did get lunch in IKEA for 50p on Tuesday by using my points on their reward card, frugal win.

Today has been £33.36 Amazon as I treated myself to some new shopping bags as the last set of reusable I got are starting to wear and matching coasters for my table mats. The cupboards and freezer are looking well stocked so I felt I could justify it.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/06/2026 20:14

AHH thank you re my Mum @Lockin26 ❤️.
Lovely to see you sweetheart 😊sounds like you have had a busy few days .
50p IKEA lunch is a brilliant win 👏 Your Amazon spend was very reasonable l think 🤔. Just
typical about the tip being shut after all your efforts though 🙄.
Hope you are coping ok sweetheart l know it's not easy but keeping busy helps so much l know .

Evening All.

Today’s spending has been some milk. I’m back to drinking milk so I imagine I’ll buy more tomorrow.

Cabaret @Frugal25.

Very wet and windy here too @DirtyGertiefromno30. Glad you mum is doing OK.

Thank you @Lockin26. Did some more work on the application today. It’s taking longer than I thought but I’m hoping once I get it done I’ll have the basis for others.

Will work more on my application tomorrow. I’ve completely thrown the towel in at work and couldn’t care less now. My lovely friend is coming on Sunday so I will tidy a bit too. Still not made it to the gym. Doing well on the cupboard/freezer eating this week.

DeepFriedCreamEgg · 04/06/2026 20:45

Today's costs
£4 on nappies.
£1 on a snack box for DD as she didn't like her current one.
£3 on a big punnet of strawbs

I've told my DH I am not leaving the house this weekend 😆 I want to avoid spending!

drspouse · 05/06/2026 11:56

I've been a bit ill (was in bed most of yesterday) and manic at work so have dropped off a bit. However, I'm off to London for the weekend (planning a bit of a cat nap on the train!) and have spent £118 on an Airbnb (bedroom in someone's house) because my friend's offer was an air bed on her living room floor, and £126.70 on my train.
I'm going to the BL Fairy Tales exhibition this afternoon, £11.50. Then dinner with friends. Tomorrow my friend (who lives 200m from the Airbnb) is taking me somewhere on her gallery pass.

DeepFriedCreamEgg · 05/06/2026 13:41

Hope everyone is having a good Friday.
I've took a couple of hours off work before the school run today and I'm currently enjoying a Belvoir Blueberry & Blackcurrant Cordial with lemonade I had it the other week at a restaurant and it was lovely and an hour of my TV.

Frugal25 · 05/06/2026 16:21

Ooohhhh that sounds delicious @DeepFriedCreamEggi may have to purchase some and do the same.
Hope you're better soon @drspouseand enjoy your weekend it sounds amazing! I'm going to Google bl fairy tales.

Cabaret is amazing @RumBananaSundae hope you had a lovely time!

£14 on cat litter. £14!!!!! On one bag of cat litter. The little things go through it like I go through chocolate so the massive bag I bought 5 days ago has gone and I nipped to the corner shop for an emergency bag. I'll not be making that mistake again.

@DirtyGertiefromno30 I bought the new book by Dinah Jefferies. The lost chateau. I love her writing. It's just beautiful. I discovered her when I bought her book from a charity shop on holiday and I've since collected the rest (she's quite new so there aren't hundreds) although I have to have a break after her books and have to read something light hearted as she can be a bit "heavy". But I do enjoy them.

DeepFriedCreamEgg · 05/06/2026 16:32

Definitely @Frugal25
I've decided to get a few different ones and reduce my coffee in take. I'm far too addicted to coffee and definitely don't think it's helping my mental health.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/06/2026 16:40

Afternoon everyone 😊
Been to the charity shops, Tesco, Asda & Home Bargains . Did not find any bargains in the charity shops but did use my Tesco clubcard vouchers £17.50 l have never had that much before 😁.
So Tesco was £50
Home bargains £60
Asda £31
Had a £5 off £36 voucher for Asda and used that too 😁
Ovado Have that Belvoir Blueberry and Blackcurrant cordial for £3.50 on offer . It really is delicious @DeepFriedCreamEgg 👏👏
Good for you having a break sweetheart 💐
Good luck with the job applications @RumBananaSundae keep going sweetheart we are all rooting for you ❤️.
Thank you so much re my Mum she's had another good day 🙏.
Dint blame you one bit in chucking the towel in the work . Rotten blinking pigs.
Oh that sounds like a wonderful weekend @drspouse, hope you are feeling much better and you have a gorgeous time 👏😁
Blooming heck £14 on cat litter @Frugal25 😱. Nevermind, you won't do that again it's a learning curve and the best thing about it is the babies are using g the tray yay!! 👏😁❤️.
Aw thank you for telling me who you are reading sweetheart . l will try to get one of hers from the library .
Hope everyone is ok and having far better washing weather than moi 🤣

OP posts:
drspouse · 05/06/2026 16:51

@Frugal25 our cat goes outside but you can get cat litter where you only dispose of the actual dirty bit, plus in these days of three-weekly bin collection it saves on space in the wheelie bin.

Frugal25 · 05/06/2026 18:38

Yes I can't wait for them to be big enough to go out @drspouse. Be less stinky too!!
Well done on your hard work @RumBananaSundae, forgot to say earlier apologies. Def throw the towel in and enjoy the weekend but I bet your applications are looking good.
I'm the same with coffee @DeepFriedCreamEgg makes me jittery which doesn't help. Xxx
So glad your mum had a good day @DirtyGertiefromno30@DirtyGertiefromno30 but shame you didn't find any bargains in charity shops. Although I bet the mooch was lovely.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/06/2026 19:11

Thank you re my Mum so kind of you and everyone here l do appreciate the support, kindness and compassion ❤️
l thoroughly enjoyed myself mooching @Frugal25 😁 just goes to show you don't really have to buy stuff to enjoy yourselves 👏😁
