hi,like many food etc is a constant concern so have changed to Aldi as my main shop as was finding Asda getting expensive and often finding up to 10ish items out of stock

I already find Aldi stock levels much better and less choice is a huge bonus but would be good to see what other shoppers like and recommend

i love the soft seeded loaf so good and a bargain at £1.20 ish
copy of fanta and Lilt 6 cans £1.60 and big bottles 60p huge bargain
9 good toilet rolls £1.99 bargain m waiting for that price to increase

please add your i might find some more gems

@lipstickwoman my mum
Said that to me!! I've been using as fabric conditioner no wonder my washing smells amazing 🤣😂

lipstickwoman · 24/02/2023 20:55

Well to be fair @ivegotthisyeah the bottle looks like it should be conditioner and I've gone to use it as one more than once!

LynetteScavo · 24/02/2023 20:57

I get the Colombian coffee and it's very good for the price.

There's actually nothing I avoid in Aldi, it's all good. It's just that you can't always get everything - sometimes I have to go to big Sainsbury's for certain things.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/02/2023 21:36

Oh we've just tried some we really didn't like - Moser Roth Belgian Blonde Chocolate Workshop Elves filled with Salted Chocolate Caramel 🤢 Waaaayyy to sweet & weird taste/aftertaste - & before any says, yes they're from Christmas (still working through the stash) & yes they're still in date! Just to forewarn as I saw they had Bunny versions in the Easter stuff.

I do all my shopping between Aldi and Lidl, depending on the offers.

Aldi are now on Too Good To Go for £3.50 (€3.99 for me as I’m in Ireland). I got one last Saturday and for €3.99 there was

A roast in the bag rotisserie chicken
Specially Selected hot smoked salmon
A bag of carrots & parsnips
Broccoli
Asparagus
4 large bread rolls
Organic blueberries

What is To Good To Go pls?

Specially selected Sourdough pizzas
Cream cheese stuffed peppers and olives
Chorizo rings
Shropshire blue cheese
Gastropub breaded chicken thigh burgers
Candles and feed diffusers
Hot cloth cleanser - Liz Earle dupe

It’s an app you download. Shops, cafes, bakeries etc. sell off goods at the end of the day cheaply. So Aldi is £3.50 for minimum £10 of goods. A cafe might be £3 for £8 etc.
At lunchtime you could get a load of pastries or sausage rolls. Maybe cakes in the evening. Maybe salads, curries or meals from a cafe. It can be quite good.

AlwaysLatte · 25/02/2023 01:59

Their fillet steak is really good. And most of our wine comes from Aldi, they have a great wine buyer.
I used to love their authentic Greek yoghurt but they seem to have stopped doing it.
Also like the Almat non bio pods and fabric conditioner.

It's AMAZING, Mil introduced me to to! Comes in a dark blue pouch with fancy writing on the front to help you spot it. I add half water and a splash of milk as opposed to just milk as BF is strict on his diet but its still great! I found it last at the end of an aisle with all of the rice pouches and lentils and those pasta with powdered sauce mixes but also found it once by the cereal in another store. Forgot to say a dollop of chutney is indulgent and probably a bit gross to some but lovely on it as are frozen or cans of peas :)

A neighbour introduced me to the risottos but I haven’t been able to find them for a few weeks in our branch.

Roystonv · 25/02/2023 14:57

Would have agreed re lamb shanks but now £6.75 gone up over £2 which is just beyond belief. Poor show Aldi.

I like the ‘luxury’ handwash range they have recently got in Cypress & Sea Fennel Antibacterial they do some other blends as well,

I also love this handwash range, although I've got the Rhubarb and Rose one, which people keep complimenting me on, then being surprised where it is from. It's decanted into a handwash dispenser, and from the smell most people seem to assume it is a really expensive brand. At Christmas their Winter Spice is gorgeous, I actually think it is far better than the Molton Brown equivalent.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/02/2023 15:02

The vegan fish bites (they used to do fillets but they've disapperared )
Household cleaning things i like the dishwasher rinse aid
I bought the Coconut powder detergent , it's floral rather than coconut but does the job well
Groovy bars for the DC
Garlic bread /garlic cheese bread are good
DH likes the razors

I usually go in when there's something in the Aisle of Wonder that catches my eye

TheFairyCaravan · 25/02/2023 15:19

The Thai curry sauce kits are delicious. We have them with Aldi king prawns for a treat tea.

Roast in the bag, stuffed chicken.

DH likes their bread and butter pudding.
Fresh tomato and basil soup.
We always buy their baked beans.
Their biscuits are brilliant, there’s no need to pay for branded names imo.
Crushed avocado
We’ve never had a problem with any of their meat. We’ve been getting our turkey, for Christmas, from there for at least the last 8yrs.

Sandwich meats and pates are great.
Yoghurt coated rice cakes.

DH likes the hickory smoked nuts.

They used to do a cider that DH loved but they stopped doing it around Christmas time and he’s very pissed off about it still.

catskittens · 25/02/2023 15:30

i had the huge No1 candle for christmas from my sister it's amazing it has 3 wicks but at most I use 2 (no more Yankee for me) also have the normal size also No1 handwash

Why do Aldi keep stopping items, some are really populat
i do think Alsi are going to find if not already that the shops are becoming to small as they are adding products but the space is not there

i think they may kill their core ideal as they are now so so popular and trying to stock more

anyway thats my take

catskittens · 25/02/2023 15:34

yep agree biscuits are great

also their posh jelly beans are really good only £1.20 ish and some lovely flavours

mature cheddar is really good and cheap compared to the big stores

ive been finding you can have their posh ranges for normal price which is always good

AllAboutMargot · 25/02/2023 15:45

Their vegan range is very good, frozen and fresh.

postwarbulge · 25/02/2023 16:45

I would shop in Aldi except that the two stores near me do not have self-service tills so the queues for the checkouts are immense

lipstickwoman · 25/02/2023 16:54

If they had hand self scanners I'd not go anywhere else. I hate checkouts

mommatoone · 25/02/2023 17:11

@lipstickwoman - our local Aldi has just installed self scan - so might be coming your way soon!

Tempted to ask where you live and move there 😂

Movinghouseatlast · 25/02/2023 17:14

The frozen salmon en croute is amazing.

WinterDeWinter · 25/02/2023 17:42

Mainly vegan so mine is slightly skewed but:
own brand marmite is excellent and much cheaper
morrocan humous v g
they did muhamarra for a bit and that was great but may have discontinued
vegan junk food v good (sausage rolls etc)
superjuices
fresh herbs
I find fruit and veg fine generally
salad packs hit and miss
nespresso aluminium pods ristretto strength 10 very good very cheap
washing powder good
bathroom cleaner good
dishwasher tablets good
EVOO very good for price
'posh' pizzas v good
micro rice and grains all pretty good
dog food /cat food dried and tinned seem acceptable to the animals
I like the posh crisps
Chia seeds very cheap and in fact All the whole foods I've tried have been great
their protein-y granola was pretty good
toilet paper and kitchen roll fine
wine generally great

Before I was vegan they did bavette steak every now and again and it was great (a while ago now)

WinterDeWinter · 25/02/2023 17:44

ben and jerry-style icecream also good
