£200 payment oil/biomass

Just incase anyone hadn’t heard about the government paymet for oil heating /biomass properties … some might need to apply for it. It’s due next month. I only recently found out about it.

The government is also providing a further £200 Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) to help those households in Great Britain who use alternative fuels such as biomass or heating oil to meet energy costs this winter. Most households eligible for the AFP support in Great Britain, will receive payment automatically via their electricity supplier in February, with no need to take any action. Those households who will need to apply for the AFP, for example because they do not have a relationship with an electricity supplier, will be able to do so in February, through the same GOV.UK portal as the one that will be used to apply for support under the EBSS Alternative Funding scheme.

Please can anyone who is with EDF and who has received the payment advise whether the refund showed up on their electric account before it went into their bank. Thanks

Badbudgeter · 24/02/2023 19:31

It showed up on the same day as Refund then as a credit.

Diversion · 24/02/2023 19:56

@Badbudgeter Thank you.

Yes three days in edf account before showing up in current account.

Diversion · 28/02/2023 18:56

No sign of any credit to my account or payment today so contacted EDF again, chat couldnt help, phone lines are reserved for those who are vulnerable or on pre-payment meters. Had to send a text and just had a reply 3 hours later that they are unable to help with a link to the GovUK website which states that the currently non-existent portal will be live from early March. We have no gas but the other properties in the area are connected so I'm guessing this is why.

Shell Energy anyone?

Yes @Chasingsquirrels I've received an email from them this week and they've paid the £200 👍

JaffavsCookie · 28/02/2023 19:08

Nothing from M and S energy here

cptartapp · 28/02/2023 19:24

Nothing from Eon, but they've just sent a link to the GOV. Uk website when I queried why no payment.
No one round here has gas.

theministerscat · 28/02/2023 22:32

Hmmm, we're with Octopus for electricity and haven't received anything yet so emailed them today and got this:
We've now completed adding Alternative Fuel Payments to accounts that were listed to us by the Gov't Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). So if you've not had yours automatically, you'll need to apply with the gov't directly here: https://www.gov.uk/get-help-energy-bills/alternative-fuelss_. Applications will open in early March.
Weird because we live in a rural location with no gas to any of the houses 🤷‍♀️. Guess we'll just have to apply

cptartapp · 01/03/2023 08:17

Will have to check that daily. Can't see that you can actually apply yet.

YourWinter · 01/03/2023 11:29

If you pay for your electricity by direct debit you don’t need to apply for the £200. I believe the application process is for customers using a pre-payment meter.

We do pay by direct debit but still haven't had the £200.

Riapia · 03/03/2023 14:39

SIL had the £200 paid into her bank today. She has oil CH, she didn’t apply for the money.

Riapia · 03/03/2023 14:40

She pays by DD.

Freysimo · 03/03/2023 14:46

I pay by direct debit and had my £200 paid into my eon next account two weeks ago. I'm going to keep it there as I was only £40 in credit.

JaffavsCookie · 05/03/2023 15:10

I haven’t had mine, have been told i need to apply via the government’s new website 😳

Same here - oil central heating, pay for electricity by direct debit, and no payment. Octopus have told me that we need to apply via the government portal which will open on 6th March (allegedly).

WednesdaysPlaits · 06/03/2023 05:58

Also been told we have to apply.

LarissaFeodorovna · 07/03/2023 11:13

The application process seems to have gone live, for people who didn't get the payment automatically. You have to upload proof of ID and a copy of recent fuel bill/s totally more than £200.

I wonder how recent is 'recent' - not much help if you only use 850l per 18 months, thankfully we got ours through the electricity provider

Recent = since September

Diversion · 07/03/2023 17:08

Just applied and got a "we will let you know the outcome within 6 weeks" email. That is a long time for anyone who really needs to replenish their fuel stores and cannot afford to until they receive this payment

hanahsaunt · 07/03/2023 17:15

Nothing yet from Ovo :( When I got through to their chat function about ten days ago they said that they were doing them in batches but couldn't offer any more specific information. Looks like the portal for us ...
