£200 payment oil/biomass

Just incase anyone hadn’t heard about the government paymet for oil heating /biomass properties … some might need to apply for it. It’s due next month. I only recently found out about it.

The government is also providing a further £200 Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) to help those households in Great Britain who use alternative fuels such as biomass or heating oil to meet energy costs this winter. Most households eligible for the AFP support in Great Britain, will receive payment automatically via their electricity supplier in February, with no need to take any action. Those households who will need to apply for the AFP, for example because they do not have a relationship with an electricity supplier, will be able to do so in February, through the same GOV.UK portal as the one that will be used to apply for support under the EBSS Alternative Funding scheme.

I've just had the £200 added to my EON Next account. This is good news as the LPG prices are really high currently.

Wafflefudge · 14/02/2023 09:17

Seems Eon are processing these quickly.
Still not had anything from Bulb - email or payment.
Nothing on their website either.

Bemyclementine · 14/02/2023 11:27

@Reggiebo yes, sorry. Oil/other alternative. Still, I can't pay for oil from my eon account, thats what I meant.

Calmdown14 · 14/02/2023 17:58

Anyone had anything from Utilita?

Can't work out if I would qualify. I'm all electric as no gas supply here but our heat comes from wood rather than oil and a couple of electric heaters.

Wafflefudge · 15/02/2023 15:41

Bulb just notified me by email that they've made payment. Have logged in and payment has been made.

Qqbank01 · 15/02/2023 15:50

Does anyone with utility warehouse have this? I have electric and gas meter (both smart) it seems I am not eligible right?

Wafflefudge · 15/02/2023 15:58

@Calmdown14 think you would be eligible.
@Qqbank01 if you use gas for heating you won't be eligible.

Wowwellokthen · 15/02/2023 17:25

Anything from EDF for anyone yet?

lardass88 · 15/02/2023 20:38

So I'm with SSE and don't use alternative fuel ( I have a log burner and electric heaters) but have had a credit of £200 appear on my smart meter, I've had no email or letter from SSE saying what it's for and I'm a bit scared to use it just in case it's a mistake and I have to pay it back 🤣

Diversion · 15/02/2023 21:05

@Wowwellokthen I tried asking on chat again today and got the same response, there were no customer service agents available to talk to me. There is absolutely nothing on their website and if you do a search for alternative fuel payments nothing comes up.

Kentishbornknitter · 15/02/2023 21:16

Ours went into our Octopus account yesterday.

Your log burner is your alternative fuel. It includes LPG, heating oil, logs or coal.

lardass88 · 15/02/2023 21:44

@Kentishbornknitter ah course it is! 🤦🏼‍♀️ thank you

FatSealSmugSoup · 15/02/2023 21:45

It includes ANYONE without mains gas - ie huge swathes of Scotland.

You ll get it, they are working from a list of post codes that are not on gas grid.

yellowspanner · 15/02/2023 22:16

I'm with Octopus and my £200 was showing in my account with the option to withdraw it. So I did

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 16/02/2023 12:44

It seems Utility Warehouse aren't giving the option to withdraw the AFP, only to have it credited on the March bill (and withdraw the difference). I think this means they get to hang onto it for a few weeks....
It's not good - and they're usually great on customer service. Bulb and Octopus have been making payments direct into bank accounts if customers request it. Why aren't all energy providers doing this?

Alexandra2001 · 16/02/2023 13:10

Mine will stay in, electricity is going up 40 or 50% in April......

Alexandra2001 · 16/02/2023 13:12

Having said that, i don't agree with all this universal help... people are getting it when they are minted.... meanwhile the very poorest, have a keymeter forced upon them.

I thought about that, but I really don't use much electricity.
I do, however, need to buy heating oil!

Sushiqueen · 16/02/2023 14:46

Re EDF - just seen on Twitter that the payments will go on to the accounts between 20th and 28th Feb

Badbudgeter · 16/02/2023 14:49

@Sushiqueen that is really helpful thanks. I tried their chat a few days ago and the chat bot suggested WhatsApp but I got nowhere.

WednesdaysPlaits · 16/02/2023 14:52

Anyone heard from british gas yet? My electricity is with them and we heat using oil.

Wowwellokthen · 16/02/2023 14:58

Thank you sushi queen!
