Cost of Living 2nd payment

It feels a bit ridiculous that we are in October now and the ‘autumn’ payment date still hasn’t been released. I’m due my usual UC payment in a few weeks but I need that to buy food etc and I’m in desperate need of a coat as I don’t have one and it’s getting cold and very rainy.

I know it probably won’t come until the end of October or possibly November but I feel like by the end of September we should’ve known when to expect it.

And before anyone says something snarky I’ve been doing school runs in the pouring rain in a non waterproof (obviously) denim jacket so I 100% stand by that a coat is an acceptable use of the COL payment.

A FOI for a mail shot will not do anything. We all know that.

and there will be some tax credit claimants who do not have regular access to the internet

Actually it will. The contract for HMRC communications is held by an external contractor. Someone high up will have chosen to authorise this mail shot. It’s not a standard letter.

It’s really not needed. It’s paid direct to accounts and have been well publicised.

Do you truly believe that your FOI is going to do anything other than cost? Truly? If you’re honest with yourself

Depends what you do with the information. Complain to HMRC /MP.

Apparently DWP predict 880,000 families will be affected by managed migration. If the same number of families all received these letters can you imagine the cost to the tax payer. How many of those families ( mostly having already received the first one) needed to receive this information and didn’t know it already?

I might not FOI. I might just compare to my ( conservative 🤬) MP.

*complain.

Good luck with that!
