Cost of Living 2nd payment

It feels a bit ridiculous that we are in October now and the ‘autumn’ payment date still hasn’t been released. I’m due my usual UC payment in a few weeks but I need that to buy food etc and I’m in desperate need of a coat as I don’t have one and it’s getting cold and very rainy.

I know it probably won’t come until the end of October or possibly November but I feel like by the end of September we should’ve known when to expect it.

And before anyone says something snarky I’ve been doing school runs in the pouring rain in a non waterproof (obviously) denim jacket so I 100% stand by that a coat is an acceptable use of the COL payment.

Everyone I know due it, has already recieved it.... I mean, fingers crossed for all of us tomorrow 🤞 but yeah, at this rate I'm starting to think next week xxx

Nottodaysausage · 10/11/2022 17:38

Yes I'm the only one without it in real life. Nice to have you lot for solidarity but hopefully we'll get good news in the morning 🥰

Zoomingo · 10/11/2022 17:39

I guess they want to make sure it gets to people just as it gets cold.

Tyrozet · 10/11/2022 18:31

Nothing for me yet - I got mine on day 4 last time so had been hoping it might appear tomorrow!

EarlofShrewsbury · 11/11/2022 09:57

I got mine in the 19th July last time, I only remember the date because it was 40 degrees and my train was cancelled. I'm not sure what number of days it was after payments started though.

Skyedart · 11/11/2022 14:28

Just posting in case anyone is in the same position. Got a letter this a.m. to say that I should get my COL payment in the week between 23-30 November (Wed-Wed). I receive legacy benefit Child Tax Credits.

I had this letter today too

It’s bloody ridiculous they are sending actual letters to tax credit claimants saying this when it has been so widely publicised and on the internet.

This is the kind of money the government doesn’t need to be wasting! I’m minded to send them a FOI requesting cost of this mail shot.

But you FOI request will cost tax payers money

CornishTiger · 12/11/2022 17:06

Yes but it will also highlight the cost of them doing stuff like this and I will challenge them not to in future.

It won’t, even slightly

Oddieconvert · 12/11/2022 17:08

It is dealt with administrative officers. Absolutely bugger all to do with DWP policy makers!

ArnoldBee · 12/11/2022 17:16

But DWP haven't been sending out letters...

CornishTiger · 12/11/2022 17:17

Actually it will. The contract for HMRC communications is held by an external contractor. Someone high up will have chosen to authorise this mail shot. It’s not a standard letter.

It’s really not needed. It’s paid direct to accounts and have been well publicised.
