Cost of Living 2nd payment

It feels a bit ridiculous that we are in October now and the ‘autumn’ payment date still hasn’t been released. I’m due my usual UC payment in a few weeks but I need that to buy food etc and I’m in desperate need of a coat as I don’t have one and it’s getting cold and very rainy.

I know it probably won’t come until the end of October or possibly November but I feel like by the end of September we should’ve known when to expect it.

And before anyone says something snarky I’ve been doing school runs in the pouring rain in a non waterproof (obviously) denim jacket so I 100% stand by that a coat is an acceptable use of the COL payment.

Not everyone on UC got paid today, but those that did were in the majority of cases on UC. There are 9+ million claiming that benefit, no chance they'll all get it in one day. The computers would croak.

Last time it was mostly ESA that got it on first day, around 60% I think.

Mine landed today. I've still got the last payment kept to one side against the increased electricity/gas costs which was what I thought it was for. It's money I never had and there was a massive fuel problem in the near future so of course I wasn't going to spend it

Happy to here that some have recieved them. I've not got mines today despite some hopeful checking of acount.

Same here it going on Electric meter so I don't have to top up for a few months. Sod Christmas it not a priority for me. My kids have left home anyway

My mother who got hers on the first day last time is waiting still. Wonder if they are paying it out in reverse for the second go.

UC. First payment received 3rd or 4th day (can't remember), second - still nothing. I really don't think they'll pay it on one or two days. There are millions people claiming....

Agree with the posters who have suggested you go to a charity shop and pick yourself up a coat in the meantime. And yes, a man's coat would probably be better. Men's clothing, footwear and umbrellas seem to be designed with the concept of resisting rain, wind, puddles and rough ground. Bizarre but true.
