My Lidl / Tesco shop for a week for six people was only 3.52 cheaper in Lidl

I know, I know I'm going to get how can six people live off this a week, that's not my point.

I did a online basket with Tesco then bought most of it in Lidl today. I'm quite surprised the difference is so low. A few things in Tesco are always out off stock online and there's no direct comparison for a few things.

However its 2.50 to get it delivered to my door from Tesco.

I'm seriously wondering why I shop at Lidl now except for top ups. Plus my cucumbers looked dodgy. Not sure they will last or if they just paler.

For £6 more delivered, it's not much saving for the hassle

I’ve been following the price of chicken in Lidl v Sainsbury.

3 or 4 weeks ago Sainsbury was cheaper. Yesterday Lidl was 4.06. I checked at Sainsbury- same price.

Today it was 4.08 at Sainsbury.🤯2p in a day.

Anyway, I don’t really find Lidl much cheaper. It’s good for stuff like cans, dried goods and bin liners.

But the rest isn’t brilliant. And the choice of yoghurts is crap.

Aldi is good for canned and cereals etc but rubbish for veg etc

Is that still the case? We don't have Aldi, but it used to be a problem in Lidl. The last few years though Lidl veg is fine, in fact in many ways is better than the other supermarkets. There are often more interesting varieties and peaches etc actually taste of peaches.

I used to love Lidl but the one near us now has mostly empty shelves and what is there is usually more expensive than Tesco/asda. Our Aldi has got better over the years but even there on most items that I buy (can’t speak for the entire range) the price is the same. I do go there for the things that I know are better/cheaper but rarely for a full shop.
