@CollieWobble22
@AdoraBell
I thoroughly recommend the M and S perfumes. The one I wear is coconut but is a warm, amber sort of coconut. (I love coconut and would wear eau de Bounty bar but the M and S one is subtle). I have had loads of great comments about it every time I wear it and it's only a fiver or so for the 'taster' bottle. Lasts well too.

Gingerwarthog · 25/09/2022 14:02

@AdoraBell
Sorry to hear about your dogs. Heartbreaking when you have to say goodbye to old friends. X

Gensola · 25/09/2022 14:05

adora really sorry to hear about your dog 💔

Timetoswitch · 25/09/2022 14:58

Sorry to hear about your dogs adora

Weird week here, worked some extra hours but due to the bank holiday, it didn’t feel like extra.

Unfrugally I booked three nights away at a mobile home park over October half term. Seemed like a bargain, until I went to book the swimming pool sessions and the only ones left were at 8am 🤣 Oh well, we’ll shuffle out of bed to the pool and then have a proper breakfast afterwards. But it’s nice to have something to look forward to!

Timetoswitch · 25/09/2022 15:37

Spot the petrol prices has found us £159.9. Is that the cheapest around?

Timetoswitch · 25/09/2022 15:38

minus the £ sign 🤦‍♀️

AdoraBell · 25/09/2022 15:50

Thanks everyone, even when you know it’s going to happen eventually it’s just gut wrenching. Anyhoo, the old boy is chasing rabbits to his heart’s content.

Hope you enjoy the few days away Time

DH spent about £27 in Tesco on food for the BBQ. Then suggested roast dinner at the pub. Walked in and the barmaid was holding my jacket. Obviously I left it there on Friday, had no clue I didn’t have it, so I’m counting that as a win.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 25/09/2022 16:01

Afternoon everyone Smile
Just wanted to pop on to thank everyone again for the kindness and support you have all shown me re my Mum Flowers
I haven't had the time to come on and partake as l would do normally but l am very touched by all your comments thank you Smile
As for frugal news we have just had my Mum's Carers allowance taken off me , which is nearly £70 a week & my Mum has had her Attendence allowance taken off her , which is fair enough but the hastle we have to go through to reclaim if she comes home, is going to be a right nuisance .
Popped into Iceland this afternoon , they have bonus card price reductions instore & they have a lot of offers on what l would call Christmas sweets and chocolates like this . So they work out at £1.66 a box .

It seems like quite a few people are having a really tough time.
adora so sorry about the dogs, that is very sad
collie I don’t blame you, that’s a pretty tight budget you’ve been working with
mrs they are quick to take benefits aren’t they, not so quick to give them out
decaff the wait sounds very stressful, I hope you get a safe soob
gen- you don’t sound well enough really to go back, would you be able to have any longer?
glad the party went well em
Lots of spending on boring stuff. £66 Tesco online (the plan to keep the price down worked)
£77 Costco on loo rolls etc
£94 petrol in Costco (massive queue)
Had to dash from Costco to GP for joint flu and Covid booster (being over 50 and newly diabetic).
Football this morning, now sat under blanket feeling shivery and sorry for myself!
I did just cook Bhaji burgers - sorry I can’t remember who shared but they were lovely! I am trying to be low carb and gluten free so they got the bill

needastrongoneagain · 25/09/2022 17:50

Afternoon.

Adora - fellow dog lover here, I adore my boys. I totally understand. Ironically, one of our closest friends were in the same position too yesterday and are heartbroken. I would and will be heart broken.

collie hope the migraine eases.

Mrs - Pah! Re the benefits. The system is shit and unworkable and totally stressful.

gen second the idea that you might need a little longer.

Me with the bhaji burgers!

Big I'm the same, re the dogs. The thought of losing either of my boys. Cake sounds fab!

life Vinted is easy to fall into isn't it? I'm learning this! Although I've just paid £13 for a new pair of leather UGG boots like the black ones, which seems insane!

Just the usually flipping vending machine costs today. I don't resent it for DH's small pleasure, but £1.60 or WAY more if the cafe is open is such a rip off given its a bloody hospital.

Had a lovely early autumn walk with a friend this morning at a local country park. She paid for coffee and we both offloaded some shit. Very good for my mental health. And wallet.

Veggie bolognaise for tea. And probably for the rest of the week given how much there is!

CollieWobble22 · 25/09/2022 18:04

So sorry about your dogs @AdoraBell that must be heart breaking xx

My migraine has really eased but I was vomiting, blind and couldn't even walk. Absolutely horrendous. I cried most of the afternoon. The whole day ruined.

DH just cooked a roast but all I could eat was roast veg & Yorkshire pudding. Might need another hot bath to settle the body.

I also LOVE coconut. I love it so much even our detergent and loo roll is coconut scented! I'll deffo be getting the M&S one. 😋

Took gas meter reading. Still only used £4 inc VAT of gas in a week inc showers, 1 x bath, dishes and heating. Not bad!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/09/2022 19:13

Sorry to hear about the doggies adora, I know how much you love them and how stressful it was when T had his accident ❤️

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/09/2022 19:18

Hospital food and drink is extortion, might be cheaper for you to buy a pod machine for the ward given he will be there months,

Spends day today

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/09/2022 19:19

Pleased the migraine is settling collie

Hey Mrs just keep popping in so we know you are ok though. Bloody bad news about benefits

kessiebird · 25/09/2022 20:06

So sorry to hear about the pooch Adora

Thats rubbish about the benefits mrs..

I seem to have reached a state of 'freeze' for work and lost of things to do.. I'm going to tackle it all tomorrow!

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/09/2022 06:52

Bulk waste collection booked £19.50

CollieWobble22 · 26/09/2022 07:20

No Spend Week.

I dont know how to remain motivated! But we have to get to Fridays payday with our last £50 in tact as we're trying to save every last penny for DIY jobs & Christmas.

It'll be worth the effort.

It's quite chilly already today. Lots of Icelandic air. Brrr.

I need to find a nice autumnal nail polish and a very good hair conditioner which I want to add to my list for payday. My hair feels dry and odd. I've already earmarked some stuff on Vinted!

I am also waiting for a £15 Vinted refund :/

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/09/2022 11:24

You got this collie.

Bornlazy · 26/09/2022 12:35

Freezing here 🥶 I've got a blanket over me but it's not thick enough and I'm cold. Maybe I should do some housework to heat myself up.

Adora I'm so sorry about your lovely dog/s Flowers

Mrs as if you've not got enough going on without the worry of them removing benefits. I hope your dm is improving.

Five week month for me so eeking it out until Thursday or tomorrow if I cheat and count DH's payday. Need bread today but hopefully that's all.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/09/2022 13:13

I’m cold too, 2 jumpers and hideous fluffy crocs likes on my feet….mmm fake fur lined plastic, but warm

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 26/09/2022 15:29

Kessie & anyone else who suffers with Cramp . My DH suffers with it terribly, he used to have Crampex OTC for it but they haven't been sold for ages now. Anyway he asked his Dr who told him to take Magnesium tablets daily . He has been taking them for a few months now and he finds them really good . They were just the cheap Magnesium tablets from Home Bargains/B&M . Really worth a try 💐
Adora bless you. l am so sorry 💐

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 26/09/2022 15:35

Born thank you so much ☺️Mum seems a little better today, eating & drinking for me , talking to the other patients and reading the paper . She hasn't done this for ages 🤗
Lady rang me after assessing her today and said she wants her to go to a rehab ward asap to give her a good chance of recovery because it could just be a matter of time and perhaps she could go home with this input. So it's good news for me today and l feel lighter in my soul 🤗
Hope everyone is ok and looking after ourselves 😊

WeightoftheWorld · 26/09/2022 16:27

DS discharged from hospital this afternoon. Just feel so exhausted after it all and shook up now I'm home and keep having the images of how poorly he was on Friday flashing in my head. It was so scary.

In frugal news, NSD today. Checked all my bank balances and they're all looking healthier than expected actually, so that's good. Got my last pay cheque from my old job a few days ago which was also more than I was expecting but it makes sense as it's just a load of holiday pay. I should be paid in one of my new jobs today or tomorrow too I think, not been paid yet though, and hopefully will have that extra amount of money in it from last month that they erroneously deduced for pension contrib.

CollieWobble22 · 26/09/2022 16:46

weight so glad he's home. We've been through very similar and it does stick with you. Look after yourself xxx

Gensola · 26/09/2022 17:12

That’s great news mrs , I’m so glad to hear you are feeling better. MIL is still in hospital so I know how stressful it is to be the family having to manage care and visits.
weight I’m so glad for you too and I hope you get the chance to rest and relax and start to get over it, sounds horrible.

Just made a huge curry with leftover chicken from Sunday dinner plus veg. Will be freezing a lot of portions!
