Yep I have lots of days like that at work kessie! I think you’re absolutely right, that panicky feeling that it’s all getting on top of you is often PMT. Logs sound a bargain
Excellent shop em hope the birthday goes well
decaff sending love your way, definitely use the nursery hours to rest up
Rather boring weekend planned of football (need to nip into Costco as it’s nearby, for loo rolls which are apparently their best seller!) Then flu and Covid jab. Then football again (if I’m not wiped out by the jab)

CollieWobble22 · 23/09/2022 07:27

Omg @kessiebird what an amazing saving on the coal and logs!! 😍
Hopefully today is much better for you.

Hugs to all the frugaleers. Such a stressful time at the moment.

I'm going to do all the washing as it's sunny today 😊

I found DS's coat but the next size up on Vinted for £4! So I'm going to get it if I can as they're £20 (on sale) new. Although my last Vinted order has gone missing and they won't refund me until the seller has confirmed its gone missing. It was £15! The order before that had clearly shrunk in the wash :/ not getting much luck out of Vinted atm.

Sounds like birthday boy is going to have the best day Em xx

Wonder what the mini budget will announce.

CollieWobble22 · 23/09/2022 09:35

Has anyone else got Scottish Power? They've just uploaded this new August Insight thing onto my account. Quite interesting but no clue on how they worked it out. We have a smart meter but I didn't think they'd actually be that smart 🤣

BigSkies2022 · 23/09/2022 14:58

Ooh, Collie, that is useful intel from that app. I still don't a smart meter though.

£9 today in one of those savers shops for household goods. Bought Fairy rince-aid for £2, and a bargain tube of ceramide moisturiser (currently favourite ingredient of posh brands) for £1.49!

Dinner tonight: leftover chicken and ginger stirfry with rice. Baking tomorrow.

Parents will benefit from the stamp duty changes, so they are happy for the boost at an expensive time for them.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/09/2022 16:35

£11 back Amazon refund, £30 random energy co Cheque paid in, £9 posting rain coat to be fixed which will cost about £60 but I love it,

Socathe · 23/09/2022 17:36

Bit spendy today, £22 hair cut (that was for me and DS so pretty good!), £14 Tesco on some last birthday bits for DH, £25 birthday present for DBIL, plus filled up the car.

BUT DH has had an unexpected pay rise (well, not unexpected exactly, but didn't expect it until December) so pretty pleased about that! He celebrated by buying himself a new £30 pair of walking boots 😂 he has needed new walking boots for about three years and kept putting it off.

Hopefully a more frugal day tomorrow, I'm at work and DH is home with DS but think they're just planning to go on a little bike ride and play at home the rest of the day.

CurlsandCurves · 23/09/2022 19:22

Great saving on the coal and logs @kessiebird ! That’ll keep you warm for a while.

@ThisisCollie2022 the interviews sound promising, fingers crossed.

£32 top up shop.
Busy busy day at work so £3 of that shop was some scented Epsom salts for my tired achy legs!

WeightoftheWorld · 23/09/2022 21:02

Had an awful week so far. Had to bring DS to hospital late afternoon as his bronchiolitis got too bad. He's doing a little better now after a few hours of oxygen but we will be staying the night. Got the impression it could be many more hours until they sort a room on the ward though. Hardly slept in about 4 nights with him being ill anyway so what's another one...?

NSD for me today unsurprisingly.

Hope everyone is well.

CollieWobble22 · 23/09/2022 21:18

Omg weight - poor DS. And poor you. My DS had the same 3 years in a row so I fully get it. Sending you hugs x

@Socathe wooow congratulations to your DH! Walking boots to celebrate. Love it!!

We're intrigued by the new Scottish Power Insights, especially the Standby bit. It's high, i think!!

We had to buy DS PE trainers today. Asda sell some Kids Nike Star Runner dupes so they were £20 cheaper! Pleased with that.

NSweekend here as we're desperately trying to save as much as we possibly can this month.

Baking fail. Tried to bake coffee cake. It tastes like burnt crap. never in my life have I made such a terrible cake 😆 however, once mixed with clotted cream it's amazing!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/09/2022 05:57

Oh weight hope you got into a ward and a comfy chair, big hug

great news for your dh socathe. Hope he enjoys his comfortable walks

happy birthday em ds

Amazing cake em

needastrongoneagain · 24/09/2022 07:59

Weight. Poor you and poor DS. You must be exhausted. How is he (and you) this morning?

Great news re your DH Socathe

Great saving Kessie re the logs.

Woke early, like life, it's my norm these days. So I've spent a couple of hours doing life admin.

Insured myself for DH's car, which is sitting on the drive and desperately needs using. I never liked driving it, he's a petrol head and loves cars, it goes too fast too quickly for my liking! Anyway, circa £600... I've cancelled mine and DD's gym memberships which came to £564 pa. Just had to accept we don't have the life anymore to have the time to use them, was sort of clinging on to the idea we might. But now have the Meerkat offer. Hopefully be about on parity for the financial jiggery pokery there.

Meal plan.
Thai chickpea and aubergine curry.
Bhaji burgers
Roast veg pasta
Gnocchi and garlic mushrooms
Halloumi wraps
Squash dhal
Veggie sausage and mash.

Just about to head out to Lidl but only need fresh things, possibly wine, so won't get to the new £250 target per month to get 10% off, might have made the £200..pah!

CollieWobble22 · 24/09/2022 08:04

need bhaji burgers sound amazing!! When I lived in Exeter there was a kebab shop that would do bhaji kebabs as a Veggie option. My absolute fave takeaway of all time.

Oh how I miss living I'm Exeter :(

em that cake is awesome!! Hope he has a great birthday x

mustbefunny · 24/09/2022 08:07

The Scottish Power info is so interesting! How many fridge/freezers do you have? We kept our old ones as spares in the garage but I'm wondering if they're costing more than saving (in batch cooking)?

CollieWobble22 · 24/09/2022 08:13

@mustbefunny we only have 1 x freestanding fridge freezer. Just a standard size one in the kitchen! New in Summer 2019 so not too old.

Interesting isn't it!

needastrongoneagain · 24/09/2022 08:24

collie. Lots of recipes online but this is a nice one, I just sub in plain flour if needed. They air fry well too.

I will be making those Need. Love making bhajis

ememem84 · 24/09/2022 09:02

Oooh I love a bhaji.

that was a blatant showing off post re the cake. If it fell apart it’d be a hulk smash cake.

needastrongoneagain · 24/09/2022 10:16

It's a great cake - full entitlement to show off!

My new Seasalt coat arrived this morning from Vinted, only bought it Wednesday so a great seller.

£60 Lidl, but included two bottles of wine for the week. Would have been nearer £50 otherwise and also included stocks of Dh's favourite chocolate and two packs of gnocchi that can go in the cupboard, we usually have gnocchi once a week.

I have that coat. It’s a win in my book.

CollieWobble22 · 24/09/2022 11:53

Oh I love that coat!!

We just had another epic walk down a bridleway we've never been down before. Found a lake and a river full of fishies.

So weird having all this stuff near home that we've never seen!

Came home and received DSs Vinted Converse had arrived. Practically brand new and I'm buzzing. He loves them because Ron Weasley had the same!

My replacement university transcript arrived. Embarrassed to say I never knew I scored so highly in my modules. I literally cried with shock! My original degree transcript didn't have grades on it so I never knew! I feel amazing and TBH it was the best £15 I've ever spent... better than any therapy I've had for low self esteem.

I could have done so much more with my career though.

Anyway, NSD and battling with DS and his silly science homework. Sigh!
