Collie are you still in the same area as when you were last posting? I often wondered how you were doing, your seasonal activity lists we're the stuff of frugal legends!

ememem84 · 27/08/2022 07:31

@northender oh I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending lots of love.

you know we’re here if you need to chat things through

ThisisCollie2022 · 27/08/2022 07:38

north Yeah still down in the SW! It's a beautiful place but life is difficult with property prices so high and wages still about £18k for a professional job. I remember when DS was little we were really keen to move to Durham / Newcastle area.

We never made the move in the end but I really wish we had!

I was going to crack on and post some activity lists. That's my weekend job. I love doing them. A day out at a local attraction here costs about £40 for a family of 3 so they're absolutely vital 🤣

I'll do an Autumn list and a Halloween & Bonfire night list.

It's very autumnal here now. Evenings are chilly and mornings have an autumnal orangey glow 🧡

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 07:40

North 💐

Timetoswitch · 27/08/2022 07:42

Sending lots of love need Flowers

Timetoswitch · 27/08/2022 07:44

Sorry I mean north Flowers

needastrongoneagain · 27/08/2022 07:44

North. I'm so deeply sorry. So so sorry. Although it has happened to DH and not me, so it's not the same, I know a little of what it is like to be living through life changing health events. It will natural to worry, but the next two weeks you can do nothing to change the outcome, and so concentrate on healing, you'll be stronger for it. X

needastrongoneagain · 27/08/2022 07:47

Yes please to a list collie, I'd be grateful for one and I love autumn.

We've lots of things to eat up in the fridge for tea tonight and I'll make wedges in the air fryer, teas where there's one portion to use up etc.

Now to menu plan, but it will definitely be a LSW.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 07:58

nsd planned today. I have teenagers asleep on my living room floor but they might go to a free music even in town or just hang out

got some free plums so will make a flapjack

who had loads of apples: flapjack, apple cake, apple and almond slices,

have to do dd bedroom ready for her wardrobe next week

needastrongoneagain · 27/08/2022 08:01

You'll get lots of giggling amongst themselves when they wake up. Birthdays are definitely easier in the teenage years!

DD needs a new phone, so that's Christmas sorted. I'll buy a refurbished one from Loop mobile but at least that allows me a budget to work from. She's never bothered about anything flashy, just functionality really.

Wolfcub · 27/08/2022 08:01

Lots of love North, in your corner for whatever you Need

Looking forward to the lists Collie

Have an all day activity today which is going to be quite hard work and quite tiring but good fun with good people. Might be hobbling around like a crone afterwards mind

Didn't get quite as much tidying as I wanted yesterday as the shredder kept getting too hot and stopping but I made a dint. The aim is to be back in my home office before I go back to work as sitting on the sofa is doing me no good. Also need to test that, now the bathroom is refitted, nothing leaks before the ceiling is repaired.

flowerycurtain · 27/08/2022 08:06

Oh North, what shitty shitty news. I hope you have a good recovery from the op.

@lifelongfrugaleer do you have recipes for your plum flapjack please? We're lucky enough to have an orchard with loads of plums and apples. But our elderly neighbour farmer also has an orchard and brings me fruit so I'm inundated!!!

LSD for us yesterday. Just £2.49 to rent Top Gun in the evening. We're planning to buy Top Gun Maverick tonight. We've been wanting to see it for ages and ages. Kids party today and DH and DS off to the rugby. So begins the rugby season!

Have a good day all x

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 08:12

Yes need there was lots of giggling in the night 2. They are a nice bunch of girls.

it’s a base flapjack recipe that I interchange the fruit, I will find it and post it

northender · 27/08/2022 08:18

For those with a glut of apples, if you have freezer space this is great. Peel core & slice apples then dip in bowl of salty water (stops browning) lay out on trays & freeze. Once frozen they can be moved into freezer bags or carrier bag & used through the winter as needed. They cook just as they would normally.

Wolfcub · 27/08/2022 08:19

Also apple butter which can then be stored in jars and spread on toast

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 08:26

Apple butter. What witchcraft is that?

need yup total support here for you too

Timetoswitch · 27/08/2022 08:27

We joined the NT earlier in the week (first time), not cheap, but we had a lovely day out and there are lots of places we can go too. This year will be lots of walks! I’ve diarised cancelling the direct debit at the end of the year (did this for the gift voucher offer).

DH didn’t get the job, but passed the board (which I thought was great as an SEO job) and he’s not done an interview like that for years.

DH has got a few DIY jobs done which has been great for sorting the house out. We’re always like “why have we put off doing this job for so long” 😂

We’ve done pretty good on food shopping this week. Spent about £105 since returning from holiday, and we’ve resisted food out (as we ate so much on holiday). We ate some frozen scampi that was a year out of date lurking in the freezer. It was fine, which is fortunate as I found a couple more bags too!

We’re now on the run down to returning to work. Boo.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 08:27

I have to ask the important questions sorry

laska what color is your hair at the minute?

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 08:29

If he passes the board time have they run a merit list? He should ask them if they haven’t said though I think it’s std for most recruiting now. Means he is held on file
if a similar job comes up in the next 6 months.
well done on passing the board

CurlsandCurves · 27/08/2022 08:30

@northender so sorry to hear your update. Here for you xx

Should just be £20 for the boys haircut today spend wise.

ThisisCollie2022 · 27/08/2022 08:39

I love our NT membership. It saves us about £80 a month as carparks here are £5 and the local gardens are £35 entry.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2022 08:42

Just lost a long post
can you read my writing? If not I can type it from laptop

cocunut is optional as it soaks up the fruit juice
