Nsd here as I've got a poorly toddler so let's just say the washing machine and tumble dryer have been on all day!

Should be a nsd day tomorrow aswell but I need to buy teacher presents etc so will probably do some online orders.

If I get chance I want to do a freezer audit tomorrow and see what we've got in to avoid getting as much shopping this week.

It's really cold here the last few days and I ordered some thermal type socks from Amazon as they were on sale thinking I would stash them away for the winter but I've got them on already and they are super toasty so that was a good buy I think, when we probably have less heating on in winter seeing as our monthly bill is going to be £299 from next month 😱

@Decafflatteplease why do you have to buy teacher gifts ? if you cant afford them, don't buy them. They are not a necessity.

Decafflatteplease · 29/06/2022 11:01

Congratulations wolf that is exciting!

Aww gen fingers crossed for a helpful doctor!

twobullets that's great frugaleering in Lidl well done and enjoy your meal out. I quite like wetherspoons cheap and cheerful and something for everyone.

Thanks for the well-wishers for my toddler they are a bit better today. They are currently asleep in the car (don't nap anymore so must be feeling grotty) and I'm sat in the front of the car having a £1.69 McDonald's latte although they don't do decaff 😂😂😂 well deserved I reckon.

Need to do a small top-up shop later, bread, veg, vitamins, calpol etc

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 29/06/2022 17:35

Afternoon everyone 😊
Well done Wolf this is a huge achievement 🤗
Decaff hope your little one is much better 😊💐
Spends today £16 in Aldi
Have been avidly watching the tennis , Andy Murray on next 🤗

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2022 17:50

@minesalargered have you asked the ward about a permit for visiting?

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2022 17:53

Do not get into the teacher gift thing u less you have 1-2-1 dedicated suppprt. A home
made card, a picture or email for their performance review is all that is needed

minesalargered · 29/06/2022 19:37

I'll ask re the permit, as I'm there every day and it's adding up. Today was extra as I had to park in the city centre. I had an appointment with a solicitor to understand how I might manage assets held in DH's name, or joint names. It's rather complicated, and not something I'd ever think I'd need to understand, but here we are.

So my spends today were £10, but I'm less anxious re spending from the joint account as it's completely allowed, apparently. I'm not deliberately deprecating assets,

Yes we have 1-1 support 🙂 thinking possibly a small plant as a gift?

Hi guys, hoping you will let me back in, been on here for years but the new platform doesn't like me much. Caught up on the thread, big wave to the new improved Mrs Evans, still loving swansea life this end. Lovely to be back. I retrained careers, went down to part time, but need to go back up to full time again now, cost of living is killing me. In other news we rescued a jagdterrier pup, he is the best thing,EVER 👌

Timetoswitch · 29/06/2022 20:35

Well done wolf, you have done so well, especially with everything that has been thrown at you in recent years!

Welcome back fear

I cannot wait for payday, although I’m sure the bank account will be looking sad once the bills go out.

It’s been a dull few days at work, I cannot wait for the week to end. I did improve this evening by finding a reduced finest cheesecake I only went in for rolls for lunch tomorrow 😋

namechangeanonymous · 29/06/2022 20:43

I've felt surprisingly well today and ticked a few little jobs off the list (replaced a bowl for my new set that my husband managed to chip straight away, took some parcels, popped to hospital and brought somethings I had forgotten for my hospital bag and pet shop) I planned everywhere I needed to go so I could do a simple loop around rather than Criss crossing which was more fuel efficient, didn't buy anything that wasnt ok the planned list.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2022 21:20

I have no experience of that but possibly you might have to keep receipts and stuff to cover yourself until it’s sorted. Not accusing you of anything but I know red tape.
sounds like he’s in hdu or similar and our trust do permits for those long term patients but don’t advertise.

welcome back fear.

a plant woulD be nice, trust me all
my teacher Friends like thoughtful gifts like notes and personal messages

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2022 21:23

gov.uk hospital car parking guidelines
voluntary basis for you possibly but I would definitely ask www.gov.uk/government/publications/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles

@Wolfcub . Huge well done. Not surprised you are emotional about it.

minesalargered · 30/06/2022 06:52

Thanks life that's really useful, and really kind of you. I hadn't thought to wonder about free parking. Will enquire.

The puppy sounds fun fear

Spends today will hopefully be hospital parking only.

Making a cauliflower and chickpea curry for tea, all the ingredients are in so nothing to buy.

Right, off to work. Have a good day all.

Wolfcub · 30/06/2022 07:45

Pay day thank goodness.

Several unexpected disasters last night which resulting in needing to sort some stuff out today and also, in a very clumsy accident, a fairly spectacular black eye and accompanying painful cut.

Great to see Laska and Fear again

Decafflatteplease · 30/06/2022 08:27

I've just tried to scroll back to find the poster but can't find it.

Who is it here whose son works on a construction site? Is it @TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans ?

Whoever it is was saying the son needs work shorts I think? Just seen the Lidl leaflet for next week and it says from sun 10 July they have work shorts for £9 I think. Lots of different builder type stuff.

Wolfcub · 30/06/2022 09:33

Budgets redone in light of increased pet insurance costs and the removal of the loan payment. Basically I'm doing anything to avoid studying Blush

PaperDoves · 30/06/2022 09:41

Can I join you? I've always been an avid budgeter since our income was tight, but DH and I have both been very lucky in that we've both had pay rises (well, income increases in my case, I'm self-employed) and I've been getting lax with my budgeting lately. I don't want lifestyle creep to eat into our ability to save and so would like some accountability!

I also have a very expensive four-legged habit 😳 so need to keep on top of my budget so I can continue justifying the expense!

One thing I'm struggling with lately is what to do with my car. It's 20 years old but in immaculate condition and I love it. I do not, however, love how much it guzzles petrol. Do I spend a lot of money on a newer car (I never buy brand new) to save money on petrol in the long run? I looked at a few recently that get 70mpg+ and it would take over two years to come out ahead assuming petrol prices stay the same. Or just hang on to my current car? It's not just the cost of petrol but also environmental guilt, but then I think if I sell my car then someone else will be driving it and it won't really make a difference to the environment anyway. 🤔

Anywho, would love to join in if you'll have me!
