How big are air fryers? I like to have a minimal kitchen so it would need to be put away!

I'm loving the idea of going to the supermarket in a milk float!

DH is the one in hospital sadly decaf, and will be for a while yet.

Enjoy Greece Gensola, DD's degree is actually in Archeology!

Good news re the extra pay namechange

Slightly spendier day as I was passing a Lidl and I needed chickpeas to make hummus. Bought two tins and some washing tablets as they are £2.50 there!

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 27/06/2022 17:40

Hope your DH I'd improving Decaff 💐
Greece sounds beautiful Gen
You deserve a great time ☺️
We have been having trouble getting wild bird seed lately , so DH found some in pets at home, 7.75 for 12.75kgs he bought 8 bags nearly £60. I don't know if it's getting scarce because of the Ukraine war , l hope not or l can see a lot of birds going hungry .
Do any of us here get wild bird seed online or from a good source l wonder if you could share please . We feed them up my Mum's at Bob's and ours so we use a hell of a lot .

minesalargered · 27/06/2022 17:48

Have you tried an equine type feed shop where they sell horse feed and bedding? Ours is always so much cheaper than anywhere. I get our chicken feed and bedding from there and got all the pony feed (years since we've had a pony though).

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 27/06/2022 17:53

No l haven't minesalargered
That is a great tip thank you ever so much 🙂

Probably not the cheapest but we get ours from rspb..we do the big garden bird watch with them every January and when you sign up for it you get a code for 20percent off. The pets at home one sounds good value though I'll have to take a look there

marthasmum · 27/06/2022 22:20

Wow the thread is moving fast!
Many congrats to your daughter mines
my frugal thing today is I’ve had a NSD - CPD my bum has barely left the chair - finished working at 9pm.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 28/06/2022 08:04

I got a bit muddled with my messages beg your pardon Decaff & Mines , hope YOUR DH is recovering well Mines 💐
Thank you Life will have a look for these animal feed stores 😊

Decaff the bird seed was 7.49 for 12.75kgs not 7.75 my DH made a mistake. So it's slightly better price 😊
Planning a NSD today hopefully fingers crossed 🤞
Have a lovely day everyone 😊

namechangeanonymous · 28/06/2022 15:22

Can't pretend today has been a good day here, but I'm aching crabby and in a horrible mood, could have been worse (much worse!!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/06/2022 17:37

£41 dog food

CurlsandCurves · 28/06/2022 18:52

@namechangeanonymous hope you’re feeling better now the day is almost over. Tomorrow’s another day and all that.

DS2 has come home wanting to go on a school trip to Belgium next year. They’ve managed to get a really good deal, they’re getting a lot and will be doing lots of activities etc. £400 for 4 days (3 nights). It’s first come first served so I’ve got to be ready with my card to log in to the parent/school website to pay the deposit on Thursday evening. Which also happens to be payday, thankfully!

Really busy productive day at work, getting ready for the summer sale next week.

NSD.

Decafflatteplease · 28/06/2022 19:03

Nsd here as I've got a poorly toddler so let's just say the washing machine and tumble dryer have been on all day!

Should be a nsd day tomorrow aswell but I need to buy teacher presents etc so will probably do some online orders.

If I get chance I want to do a freezer audit tomorrow and see what we've got in to avoid getting as much shopping this week.

It's really cold here the last few days and I ordered some thermal type socks from Amazon as they were on sale thinking I would stash them away for the winter but I've got them on already and they are super toasty so that was a good buy I think, when we probably have less heating on in winter seeing as our monthly bill is going to be £299 from next month 😱

namechangeanonymous · 28/06/2022 19:12

We've been to a food Warehouse for the first time tonight - it's part of Iceland. We've brought quite a lot of freezer stuff for easy to eat and put in the slow cooker meals between now and after baby is born, it'll save quite a lot as we won't be as tempted by takeaways.

northender · 28/06/2022 22:11

No spends again today. Trying to use up food in the fridge before we go away on Sunday.Carbonara tonight, stir fry beef last night, DD cooking tomorrow.

Diversion · 28/06/2022 22:15

Suggested that as a family we do a secret santa for all of the adults this year. Our family is growing quickly and I would rather that people do not feel under pressure to spend money on gifts which could be better used elsewhere with all of the price increases on just living.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2022 06:17

Did some juggling of accounts yesterday. Shut a saver that had very little in it and was paying little interest. My limited saver matured so I moved that and I paid off my remaining 7 months of loan payments from the little bit left in my ISA saving me £19 in interest which is more than I'd earn in the same period. Apart from mortgage payments I'm now officially debt free. It has taken a very long time to get here, when I think about where we (at the time) were when we hit debt crisis 11 years ago and everything I've done since then to dig my way out of it, even with the set back of divorce costs (huge) and buying ex out of the house I can't believe I've made it. Quite emotional really

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2022 06:21

Wolf that is amazing. Wel done you. No wonder you are emotional bits been a long road.
i wish I could give you a big hug 😍

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2022 06:22

Oh for an edit button

well done you. It’s been a long road.
((((( hugs))))

minesalargered · 29/06/2022 07:30

That's really incredible wolf, you rightly should be proud and emotional and relieved and happy and anything else. ❤️

Hope today is a better day namechange

Hope the poorly toddler is on the mend decaf.

Stocking up the freezer sounds a good idea too, never heard of the Food Warehouse.

Spends yesterday were hospital parking and some batteries. I'm going to bulk buy some AA's, much cheaper.

Made an absolutely huge veggie chilli yesterday, it'll do another two full meals for the 3 of us. We had it with sweet potato wedges last night, probably do rice tonight and then wraps the night after.

Spends today will hopefully be just parking.

Got 35p paid into my PayPal from surveys, and going to list a couple of Hush dresses I don't wear.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2022 07:52

I noticed one or two of our new folk were in the Yorkshire area. If you're not already aware of Surplus to Purpose check it out. It's a zero waste service run by Arcadia group. You can fill a crate with food for £10 or half a crate for £5. Some things are past best before but some is overstock including fruit and veg etc. stock changes often and there's a useful Facebook page which highlights what they have and how to get there

namechangeanonymous · 29/06/2022 07:57

Well done @Wolfcub it's so easy to get into debt but so difficult and requires dedication of steel to get out of it, my Dad had an awful lot of debt and I've seen how difficult it is.

Morning all, hope today is a frugal day for all :-) I've got a couple of jobs to do today, so I'll be taking my chilly bottle out to avoid buying a drink.

CurlsandCurves · 29/06/2022 08:25

Congratulations @Wolfcub that is amazing, well done!!!

Gensola · 29/06/2022 08:50

wolf well done that’s absolutely amazing!
I have tonsillitis and due to go on honeymoon on Monday. I had it in December and it was bacterial, needed antibiotics to shift it so waiting to call GP to beg for meds. 😱

northender · 29/06/2022 09:06

Fantastic news wolf
DH & I demonstrated commitment to the frugal cause this morning packing our tubs & bottles to take to work. Satisfying to think how much you're saving by doing it

TwoBulletsFiveZombies · 29/06/2022 09:15

I had two vouchers for £5 off a £25 shop at Lidl, so yesterday sent my stepdaughter round with a basket and a list and I had another basket and added up as we went along so we could use both at the till. Couldn't get everything I needed so will have to go to Tesco later for the other bits - I'm passing anyway so no extra petrol.

Wetherspoons later for tea with friends - will be able to keep that under £10 including drinks. I'm meeting my two best friends of about 15 years and telling them about my pregnancy - I can't wait, they know how long I've wanted this and will be made up for me! 🙂

Might try to list a couple more bits on Vinted and Facebook selling groups if I get chance today.
