Thank you Mines l had a much better day today ☺️
Sounds as if we are all feeling much happier without this intense heat thank God 🙏
Another NSD for me today thankfully ☺️

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/07/2022 07:32

I’ve done the 65% off gusto for next week. Still need some odds and sods from Aldi

BigSkies2022 · 21/07/2022 07:56

Off to Devon tomorrow! Whoo!! packing today, and filling the fridge and freezer for DS, who will be hosting his GF for at least part of the week. Don't intend to impose my frugality on them, so expect to spend a fair bit today and will leave him some housekeeping as well. But budgeting has gone quite well this month, and - so far - no unexpected expenses.

Been out in the garden this morning. Not sure how the Japanese anenomes are going to fare - looking pretty dry and crisped up. Usually they are reliable autumn flowerers, but I don't think they are coming back from this baking. Everything else OK.

minesalargered · 21/07/2022 09:45

Have a fabulous time Skies. Enjoy, you've earned a break.

Well, one of the dogs has eaten something they shouldn't from DD's bin (sanitary product). So BOTH are now having to go to the vet for a scan as we don't know which. Both insured, but one had a major operation last year so used up all the cover. Just feeling like there's one financial thing after another at the minute. Mildly frustrated with DD (internally of course, I've been totally supportive outwardly) as I've reminded her before to put things like that in the main bin.

So whatever the vet bills will be!

Aaargh....

minesalargered · 21/07/2022 09:46

To be totally fair, she usually does empty her bin daily, I'm more frustrated in general. She's a fabulous person. Just another bill I wasn't expecting and didn't need, plus vets trips etc.

minesalargered · 21/07/2022 12:29

Thankfully, the vet just wants us to monitor the dogs at present, as both are currently well, pinked gummed, normal HR, not being sick or displaying signs of pain or distress, so things may pass naturally. I'm an old hand at dog medical issues, so she thought it not worth the expense or stress to ddog1 (who has a 28 page medical history, mainly of his own making being a Spaniel) and gets quite stressed at the vets anyway when I'm experienced enough to spot any signs.

Phew, for now!

xogossipgirlxo · 21/07/2022 14:43

NSD for me today, but I am really waiting for my payday tomorrow. I had to move some cash from savings account to cover DDs. I will pay them back and will leave the rest for grocery shopping. Cashflow issue still persists, but I am managing just on my income. Husband didn't transfer me any money yet, because he needs to pay his direct debits too. We will get there, but with huge delays on the way.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 21/07/2022 18:34

Fngers crossed for you and your Ddogs MIne Flowers
Bigskies have a wonderful time on hols Smile
Am sure you will get it all sorted Gossipgirl it's knowing what needs doing and doing it that really helps and you are so on point with your finances l am sure you will be fine Smile
Life that is a marvelous offer very frugal and sounds lovely , enjoy! Smile
Spent 20 in Morrisons , Pizzas, salad bar in the meal deal offer , a Massoman ready meal that was yellow stickered to half price for Dd to have when she comes home from work . Grated cheese on offer 1.25 on offer for 180g , which is good for Pilgrim cheese.
Petrol down to 169.9 a litre here now Smile

Taytocrisps · 21/07/2022 22:49

Hope everyone's keeping well. I've been thinking of switching my electricity supplier. I was checking out some competitors via switcher.ie and another company offers savings of €320. However, this company has a message on their website to say that their prices will change from 1st August. So I think I'll wait until then and see if it still works out cheaper to switch. My current electricity bill is €231.98 as compared with €165.55 in March. I'm billed every two months.

The ECB is increasing interest rates which will have an impact on my mortgage, because I've a tracker mortgage. So I'll be looking at a higher monthly mortgage payment from August.

I've just priced 1,000 litres of home heating oil (a full tank of oil) and it's €1,340. I don't need home heating oil now but I'm thinking ahead to October. Iirc I paid €800 for a full tank of oil in February so that's a massive increase. I'm thinking it might be cheaper to get a few plug in heaters for the sitting room and bedrooms. I might put the heating on for one hour a day just to warm up the whole house and stop the pipes from freezing over. A pity we couldn't store the heat we had recently for use over the winter Smile.

Not such good news on the financial front but on a positive note, tomorrow's Friday and it's almost the weekend. Anyone got anything nice planned? My brother is coming up on Sunday to do a few maintenance jobs for me (nothing too major) and in return, I'm going to take him out for lunch. It will be nice to have a good catch up.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2022 06:49

&860 election bill paid: we now have safe electric

nsd planned today but I need the cupboard full shop

sounds nice to see your brother. Will the oil keep rising to? I’m imagining yes

weekend depends on Covid symptoms here

minesalargered · 22/07/2022 06:53

Morning.

Hooray for payday gossipgirl, well done on managing on your income.

Thanks Mrs,

Well, in dog news ddog2 had an interesting poo last night, shall we say!! Phew. All is well, and cheap...

Got Ocado coming this morning and I'm all set for next week, bar possibly some fresh items. £40.

Found a street near the hospital that I can park on free, so that's a good saving each week.

Nothing much planned for the weekend either.

Have a good day folk. 🙂

minesalargered · 22/07/2022 06:55

Sounds like it might be a good idea to buy fuel now tayto, if you can?

xogossipgirlxo · 22/07/2022 11:25

@TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans wow 169.9 for petrol, this is good news we all want to see. Where I live, it's still over 184, although I saw one of Shell stations had 175.9. This whole petrol thing is so dodgy. When watchdog started their investigation, prices started to drop so suddenly. It's got nothing to do with war. Price of crude oil did not fluctuate this much. Someone is making a lot of profit out of it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2022 20:07

££££ on food. It’s rocketing

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 22/07/2022 21:06

Evening everyone 😊
Have downloaded the Trolley app. On it you can see where the groceries are the cheapest .
Today l needed Anchor spreadable 500g tubs and some braising beef for a stew for MumBobs tomorrow.
Trolley app said Anchor butter was 3.75 in Waitrose and Iceland and Waitrose essentials braising beef chunks 400g were 4.10 or 3 for 10 . So 3.33 a container. Which was cheaper than anywhere else l could find it . Also tbf it looked very lean and fresh .
Who on earth would think that Waitrose would be the
Cheapest ! So by looking at the app l saved 2.25 on the butter and £2 on the cheapest frozen beef or fresh .
Hope everyone is ok 😊
It rained here today and it was heavenly 😱😀 l never thought l would say that! 🌧️😂

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 22/07/2022 21:11

Tayto l go on a price comparison site for oil prices , it's called Boilerjuice l don't know if you have anything you can access where you live like this though 😊

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 22/07/2022 21:17

Oh yes Gossip girl petrol , it's down to 167.9 today . Someone is making big profits 🙄

ememem84 · 22/07/2022 21:19

unescorted ds is fine now.

Monday was hot. 39 degrees. Oof. I did not cope in the heat.

spends today. £64 cleaner. £21 window clean. £5000 paying off credit card. DH got pjs and had his mega bonus. Included a pay out of shares in his company. So he threw enough in joint account to pay off most of my credit card balance. Phew. Takes the pressure off somewhat. this comes from shares he was given as a bonus four years ago.

took kids to library today so we have 14 new books in. But I did manage to persuade them to get rid of two bags for life of toys.

minesalargered · 23/07/2022 06:02

Fuel closer to £2 per litre here (diesel).

Trolley app sounds good.

Agree life, food is insane.

Hoping for a NSD. Thankfully. Quiet weekend planned. Jobs to do so up early and will crack on.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/07/2022 07:52

That trolley app does sound good
at least with library books they go back, yeah to the bonus

out for lunch today £££ but seeing my besties.

ememem84 · 23/07/2022 08:05

It’s my wedding anniversary today. 11 years.

wasn’t there a poster on here (Seacow maybe?) who used to wear her wedding tiara on her anniversary?

im up with the dc. Have been since 6. DH said I could have a lie in….but he rolled over and went back to sleep. I’ve sent the kids back upstairs to play with noisy toys. 😂

riding today then need to go up on the loft to get the “party” box so I can see what balloons and party bag stuffers I already have.

dds birthday party is next week. May need to order stuff.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 23/07/2022 08:10

Woke early this morning so DH popped to the local garage with the cheaper fuel and filled up the cars . It's been chockablock for 2 weeks with a huge tailback in the day so he was glad to get that done .
£41 for Dd2 car , £62 for ours .
Life it's not perfect the Trolley app but it does help 🤗
Em that is wonderful to clear your CC such a relief for you 😊
We used to love going to the Library when the DDs were little 🤗❤️
Only trouble is the books went AWOL sometimes 😂

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 23/07/2022 08:11
