Em l love both of the kitchens but the difference in style is a huge chasm Grin l love that ! Grin
Been to Aldi spent 7 , their tins of fruit cocktail in juice are 60p , same size 1.10 in Tesco Hmm
Meadow bless you sweet am sure you & baby will be fine SmileFlowers
Daisy Great stuff it's always a relief when the car passes Smile
We have had torrential rain here ! Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2021 18:07

Love both kitchens em
You are right meadow these can be just for caution and routine.

Sand away any other fakey bits so the remaining wall is stable then yes lots of layers. You might need a light sand between layers to get a good key (grip) for then next layer. When dry sand smooth then wash coat to seal before decor

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2021 18:07

Phew on not

Ooo thunder coming in here

HumbugWhale · 27/07/2021 18:07

Mrs we were told we would have torrential rain but have had wall to wall so shine all day. I risked putting the washing out after lunch and now I am watching the rain soaking it Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2021 21:05

Well that was disappointing but it a lot fresher

Wolfcub · 27/07/2021 21:12

We've had a tiny drizzle that's all

Happierwithouthim · 27/07/2021 22:01

We had a big cold shower earlier today but lovely since, I know it was cold because I'd to go out & close windows of the car when it happened!

€9.69 on rolls & fillings earlier in the day & €13.80 on dog food and a frozen pizza later in the day.

€35 on horse riding because she missed last weeks lesson.

Two extra children tonight so going to make pancakes in the morning, guaranteed everyone will eat them.

ememem84 · 27/07/2021 22:28

I e made a cake. And three different colour butter creams. And have dyed fondant icing. And my hands. But bunny cake is half done. Yay. Just need to assemble now. Woop.

Happierwithouthim · 27/07/2021 23:18

Em you're a determined woman when you set your mind to it.

So I've returns of €81 to go back to Dunnes & Penneys. I still want something to wear Sat night so I've ordered two dresses

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/07/2021 07:13

Absolutely happier I can sometimes have a "get shit done" mindset and just go for it. it's both a blessing and a curse.

dh did just say i'm doing too much - i have asked him if he'd like to bake the birthday cake, and make sure presents are wrapped up and collect the balloons at lunchtime. suddenly he's busy.

I have an appointment with my GP this afternoon - so am leaving "work" early to get there so needed to start early to make up the time. dh not at all comfortable getting the kids up dressed and off to nursery. but he did it because mental load.

this evenings cake assembly should be relatively simple if i'm just left the hell alone to do it. i am so so glad i have my stand mixer. it took less than no time to whip up the sponges yesterday and the frosting. no idea how dm used to do it without one.

one of my most best birthday cake she made was a pirate and mermaid cake. like peter pan. the entire boat was carved from sponge. it was set on a "sea" of blue jelly. chocolate mini rolls for cannons, maltesers for cannon balls, boot laces for rigging. play mobile pirate mens. Smile probably took her hours.

in other news i had a message from my assistant today - he's not logging on as his gf had their baby last night. so if ever there's an excuse not to do any work...! Grin so happy for them!!

Gensola · 28/07/2021 09:54

em that cake sounds amazing! My granny made me a cake in the shape of a fairytale cottage once with a chocolate lattice roof and all the doors and windows done in sweets, it was the highlight of my childhood birthday cakes for sure!
I am waiting impatiently for payday, bills are piling up and I feel a bit out of control of it all. Just need to sit down and have an admin day.

SingToTheSky · 28/07/2021 10:38

Loving the cake talk! My mum used to make lovely ones - I’ll always remember the “three bears” one she made (I was an only child and our surname sounded a bit like bear)! I’m rubbish at both baking and decorating sadly.

The cake talk is making me miss @ChristmasSeacow 😭😰 if you happen to read this, I hope you’re all ok.

Just had another online lesson - went really well. I’m so glad my friend was happy to try online when we were isolating the other week, as that gave me the confidence to then offer tuition to others! I’m not charging quite as much as my face to face rate ATM, I feel that’s fair to recognise the fact that I am new to this format. However if I get new pupils from September onwards I think I will increase that. TBH though I’m loving the online teaching as it also means I don’t have to worry about tidying up 🤣

Saw two vacancies come up on the page of another local charity so I’ve emailed the address they gave for job specs. Both part time and mostly from home. One is specifically autism related. :)

SingToTheSky · 28/07/2021 10:40

I remember making a jelly aquarium once. Must try that with Cagletini :o fizzy fish anyone?

daintydaisies · 28/07/2021 13:28

Booked 2nd vaccine today 😊

Spent £5 on sweets yesterday but redeemed £1.50 back with Shopmium. £300 on car insurance which was £100 cheaper than I budgeted for tbh. 😊 got a few things up on eBay - one posted today. Aiming for no spending for the rest of today and tomorrow

MeadowHay · 28/07/2021 13:58

Scan was fine, phew. They've booked me in for another one in 3 weeks time - not sure why when everything looked fine but am not going to complain about extra care Grin. Feel really reassured on that score, they're looking to be a very similar size to DD - fairly small, but with a massive head! Basically the same build as me tbh Grin. I'm convinced it's another girl! Also spoke to a MH midwife and I've self-referred to our local IAPT service.

Spends: £4.40 bus day ticket for my hospital appt. £2ish on milk.

Mmmmm cake! All sounds delicious. I'm not a baker at all unfortunately! Just an eater Grin.

We've got thunderstorms here atm. I got home just before the torrential rain started before, phew.

SingToTheSky · 28/07/2021 15:05

Fab news meadow and well done for speaking to them about the anxiety ❤️

I’m currently feeling a bit overwhelmed looking at all the books DS needs from September. I’ll have to space the purchases out. Also we’ve basically decided on our new sofa. Anyone else find it a bit nerve wrecking choosing such big items - TBH we have always gone for the cheapest/second hand everything. It’s so bloody comfy though.

Mrsmadevans · 28/07/2021 15:28

So pleased everything is fine Meadow 🤗👍👏❣️

Yes. I paid the deposit for kitchen today. Second guessed myself and had a bit of a flap before I pressed the button.
