£125 on 2 pairs of school shoes fml bloody half sizes and awkward kid’s.
£64 Sainsbury’s but lots of bakeware.

CamdenLurker · 31/08/2021 16:07

@Unescorted

Moi has the 2 I think. Camden what number are you trying to make?
I'm attempting to make a 16, I've printed off a couple of number stencils and will give it a bash. It's not a huge deal if it doesn't look great - I've got about a tenners worth of chocolate to stick on the top Grin I can bake a decent enough cake, I'm just not the best with any kind of decoration.
Lovemaltesers · 31/08/2021 16:09

Back to work here today, although off tomorrow. Have fallen off the thread as was busy writing a job application, and then got an interview for a different job tomorrow 😬

Will get back on the frugal once tomorrow is over!

Unescorted · 31/08/2021 16:55

I would cut around a template. It is worth putting a crumb coat on before putting the real icing layer on. It makes a huge difference for not a lot of effort.

Love good luck for both of them.

Good luck Love!

Nsd, been at the park with friends most of the day. We have spent most of almost every day outdoors over the holidays. I'm going to find it hard being cooped up in a classroom I think.

Wolfcub · 31/08/2021 18:53

Good luck Love

Dammit, have added ingredients for meals to my shop, die tomorrow, and can't remember what one of the meals is. Ffs.

Life I feel you pain in school shoes. Our school rules are so ridiculous that you technically couldn't have anything made by Clarks or start rite or any other "proper" shoe shop shoes that emboss their name on the leather . I am ignoring this rule. I am prepared to have the fight for the fourth year running.

Unescorted · 31/08/2021 19:01

We are uniform free WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO! DS's travel card made me wince a bit mind.

mrs we pay £156 for a years membership (I think). Considering it’d be £18 each for DH and I to go and then £12 for ds (under 3’s are free) it makes sense to get the membership.
ememem84 · 31/08/2021 19:05

Wardrobe declutter done. I need a couple of cardigans for work. And a pair of black ankle boots.

Mrsmadevans · 31/08/2021 19:42

Love good luck for both of the interviews Flowers
Crikey Life that is a lot for 2 pairs Shock
Em that is an excellent saving for you as a family over the year ! Grin

Gensola · 31/08/2021 20:13

I’m watching Marie Kondo’s new show and contemplating throwing out my entire wardrobe as not much of it sparks joy 😂

Happierwithouthim · 31/08/2021 20:24

Beef used up in one pot curry from the spicery & made creamy tomato chicken too because oven was on using Cali Cali seasonings & a SuperValu recipe. Smells amazing & makes me feel on top of things

Back to school today, made lunches last night, gotta do the same tonight to make morning run smoothly but motivation is low!

Just having my last cup of tea in bed for a while, back to school tomorrow. Going to one of our favourite NT places today to make the most of it, I am planning ice creams this afternoon.

Do a declutter. It’s quite cathartic. I emptied all the clothes shoes accessories. Everything out onto the bed. And sifted through it. If I hadn’t worn it or it didn’t fit then off it went.

Forgot the broccoli will put it with the chicken I think! Thanks Grin

£5.15 coffee shop. Am sat here with a yum flat white and a danish. And am meal planning. Dropped the kids at nursery and have the builder coming round at 1015. DH is home so it doesn’t really matter if I’m a bit late back.

Hawaiian chicken is on the menu.

As is veg satay noodles. Or tofu satay.
Frittata
Pizza - homemade on Friday. That’s the tradition
Hawaiian chick on Saturday with pitta and salad
Mac and cheese pasta bake on Sunday
Spicy honey salmon Monday
Something on Tuesday
Jacket pots on weds.

I’m going to do a huge shop today to stock up freezer too. We’re experiencing delivery issues here (thanks brexit and lack of hgv drivers in the Uk). And also winter is coming which brings bad weather which stops the ferries coming in. So it’s sensible in my mind to create a stock pile.

I’ve been watching you tube videos of women in the USA who only shop once a month for their families of 16. (!) and have learned that freezers are your friends. So I’m going to buy one for now and one for the freezer. Of certain things - cheese butter etc.

Am also going to re organise the freezer….because it’s a mess.

ememem84 · 01/09/2021 09:22

Yum.

According to my much younger colleagues this type of picture is called a “flat lay….”

Lovemaltesers · 01/09/2021 11:21

Totally tanked my interview. It would have been quicker and much less painful to have just said “please don’t employ me, I’m rubbish” Grin.

Gensola · 01/09/2021 11:25

love hopefully it wasn’t as bad as you think.

I had 12 eggs collected today, last time I had a lot more so slightly worried we won’t have any embryos to transfer. Just have to hope that they are better quality than last time.

Lovemaltesers · 01/09/2021 15:29

Needless to say, I didn’t get the job 😂

HumbugWhale · 01/09/2021 15:50

Bad luck Love, sorry it didn't go well.

I have my fingers crossed for you gen

northender · 01/09/2021 18:13

Sorry to hear that love onwards & upwards.
Keeping fingers crossed for you gen
Loving all the meal planning. I need to join in
First day at uni was ok, but all online so a bit weird. Is going to be hard work. Not under any illusions. Will have a bit more money thanks to going from 30 to 37.5 hours a week. Need to be very organised
Dd's prom tonight with a frugal vibe. Dress £25 charity shop, £12 dry clean, shoes £23 Next, bag borrowed, transport free in my aunty's 2 seater sports car, hair & make up done herself, silver & moonstone necklace £29

Alfiemoon1 · 01/09/2021 18:57

Aw sorry to hear that love. Work is mad busy at the moment and had a busy weekend we finally did my mums 80 th birthday afternoon tea celebration only 18 months late due to covid so it was an expensive weekend but she really enjoyed it and loved seeing her old colleagues and relatives who don’t love locally
