Forgot to add if the sauce is a bit thin thicken with slaked cornflour about an hour from the end of cooking

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2021 11:41

Giving the house a thorough clean today ready for cleaner back from her holidays next week
Doing some more declutter and rescued some of my clothes from dd out pile

Wolfcub · 29/08/2021 12:20

Another interesting point adding my recipes to ocado (for those that remember the theme that too many meals were over £9 for ingredients) is how many of the recipes that I like have the same fresh ingredients. I probably need to set some time aside to having a real think about how I stack and plan my meals to get less waste.

For those interested in the Hawaiian chicken 1kg of thighs has done enough for 10 generously stuffed sandwiches.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2021 12:29

Has anyone tried the mob books feed 4 under £10. I can’t compute if that’s too expensive?

Wolfcub · 29/08/2021 15:21

Tayto your holiday sounds fabulous. I'm sorry dd is so stressed, I really don't think the teachers should be bothering them on holidays though. They are on holiday for a reason. I think seeing her counsellor is a great suggestion

I'm feeling really down and blue today. Everyone in town is at several different events that are going on. I really wanted to go but have no one to go with. And I can't go on my own because then friends who have gone without me will think I'm trying to crash their day (small venues can't be incognito). It really really shit being on your own sometimes. And ds has come back from his week away from home being a git so I just want to cry.

I have the veggie book and I love it. Some really different recipes including good fakeaways. I think the recipes often work out cheaper as we are well-stocked with spices and herbs and always have things like onions, garlic, lemons, chillies etc so we don't buy them especially.
Mrsmadevans · 29/08/2021 16:13

life that festival sounds brilliant 😁
Em not heard of Bird box will have a look at it You have a very busy week!

Mrsmadevans · 29/08/2021 16:34

Wolf that is awful for you , bless you lovely . I don't know if your friends would think you are trying to crash their day.. Do you really think they would be thinking like that about you? Or are you just on a real downer and everything is pants? Flowers l am sorry lovely .

Mrsmadevans · 29/08/2021 16:42

Crikey Happier that IS expensive for the drinks!
Thank you for the sofa love, you know what it is like you buy it then you doubt yourself Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2021 16:43

It as Mrs. The town is good at putting events on.
If I saw you wolf I wouldn’t think you were crashing

HumbugWhale · 29/08/2021 16:54

Wolf I'm sure if you ran into friends they would ask you to join them. I know what you mean though, I don't like going to events, pubs etc on my own. Hope you are ok.

ememem84 · 29/08/2021 17:40

Making seven veg sauce this evening for dinner with mixed pasta. Didn’t have enough of either spirals or tubeys. So both. DH will flip. This is a pet hate of his Grin

Happierwithouthim · 29/08/2021 17:59

I don't often side of your dh em but this would bother me too Grin

Went to Aldi for a sandwich spent €40 ShockHmmin fairness I won't need much more for the week just getting sorted for school lunches

Wolfcub · 29/08/2021 18:58

Yup I'm so in rare agreement with your dh Em, mixed pasta shapes is wrong (which is why I have a cupboard full of random handfuls of pasta shapes that are good for nothing)

ememem84 · 29/08/2021 19:52

Well he ate it. As did the dc.

There was literally a handful of spirals. I don’t mind the mixing personally but DH is a stickler for non mixed pasta. To the point where once I accidentally mixed spaghetti and linguini in the same jar. He separated it.

HumbugWhale · 29/08/2021 19:56

Our dcs love getting a mixture of pasta! It doesn't bother me either but I can't bear it when they mix up two different types of cereal!

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2021 20:04

Doesn’t bother me unless they have different cooking times

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2021 20:05

I’m visiting dbro on 4 dec near cov, hit me with Christmas events pls

ememem84 · 29/08/2021 20:53

Oh god. The cereal mix…no. Just no.

Mrsmadevans · 29/08/2021 21:56

Mrsmadevans · 29/08/2021 22:04

Kellogs are doing an offer

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/08/2021 10:21

The Kellogg’s offer doesn’t save money unfortunately as they up the add on prices for skate and lights. Just gonna have to suck up the £168
