Brilliant prime age for a craft party and they take the made item home with a bag of sweets, biscuits decorating, or if you have loads of beads neck less making,
Outdoor games are good at this age too. Pass the parcel, musical statues, bouncy castle though not cheap. Pin the tail on the (party theme item). Food box for food which they won’t eat much

Standby I will keep thinking

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/08/2021 14:39

Depending on the weather pic nic party at a park with a play area, bubble wangs and bubble generators are always fun, balloons if you can stand them, bit of dancing at the beginning aka charging round excitedly, decorate your own pizza then eat it for the food,

Hall, house and park can be done differently depending on your theme and location

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/08/2021 14:41

If you know any scout leaders we have lent out sports equipment for relay races or make your own with a few bits. I can give you ideas, nerf guns if you have loads though not all parents like them. Seed planting then they take it home depending on time of year.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/08/2021 14:42

Mostly I would say a bit of running about, couple of games, a craft, food, cake last games, home

Mrsmadevans · 22/08/2021 16:04

@Gensola

mrs Crickhowell is one of our fave places! We’ve stayed near there a few times.

I have to finish a presentation for my summer school tomorrow - left it to last min as always!

AHH that is so kind of you Gen l love Crickhowell . Thank you Martha 🤗 it's well worth a visit . The Brecon Beacons are just wonderful 😀

it's a special place ☺️

Mrsmadevans · 22/08/2021 16:16

Spent £40 in Tesco , lots of yellow stickers 👏👏👏👏👏

HumbugWhale · 22/08/2021 16:35

Good work Mrs. I did a big Lidl shop £70 and a further tenner in Sainsbury's for the things Lidl didn't have.

I have gone very tired, result of rubbish sleep all week. Dcs are being highly demanding want everything done now, won't help tidy anything up etc and I really don't have the energy for it. Reckon it's almost TV time while I make dinner.

Bit young for bubble wangs aren’t they?!!! 😂😂

Ds’ friends have just gone. Man they’re full on hyper kids! But so lovely with it. They had a great time. We’re all pooped.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/08/2021 18:30

Never too young for a bubble wang!!!! Can substitute for wellies if you want.
Luffs a good wellie wang Grin

Wtf a bubble wang is……. At least it was a
G and not a k!!

maddenlightfoot · 22/08/2021 19:25

Thank you so much for the ideas (and the lols - bubble wangs 😂) just catching up now but it's going to help me so much 🙏

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/08/2021 19:27

No problem. Take or leave as you wish. Shout if you want more ideas around a theme

Gensola · 22/08/2021 19:53

£6.50 taking a junior colleague out for welfare coffee. Walked there and back so saved £3.50 bus/£5 parking.

life bubble wangs 😂

Watched two episodes of shop well for less - I don’t think they got through to the family who buy new outfits for every wedding at all.

Mrsmadevans · 22/08/2021 20:32

Well done Gen 👏👏👏
Glad you all had a great time Em 👏👏😀
Humbug have a well earned rest when they go to bed. 🍰💐🤗

ememem84 · 22/08/2021 20:38

Exhausted now. Ds threw a wobbly earlier because he refused to tidy up. But he’s tired. I just said ok. And he went off on one. Literally kicking screaming and crying. Because I was tidying up. And said ok when he said no when I asked him to help.

DH is asleep on the couch downstairs (he said he was watching tv but I went down just now and he was sleeping). I’m in bed already. Dd asleep. Such a nice fun day

MeadowHay · 22/08/2021 22:04

DD's covid test was negative, phew. She hasn't had a temp since yesterday morning and spent this afternoon absolutely bombing it around the park with DH to the point that her suspected asthma started kicking off with the exertion, you'd have no idea she had been unwell yesterday!

Em gosh they do sometimes have the weirdest tantrums don't they?! My DD started crying earlier because she could still see the park through the railings as we were walking home Confused. Was literally just like "Is that the park?" And I said yes, and then said "I can still see the park" and I acknowledged it and then she started crying and saying "But I don't want to see the park"!!? I told her not to look at it then and she started saying about how she has to because she has eyes and it all got even weirder from there...

NSD for me today as got DH doing all the spending for us instead Wink

Mrsmadevans · 22/08/2021 22:22

Have a good sleep Em 💤😪😴🛌🛏️ fingers crossed for you not to be disturbed 🤞🤞🤞
Meadow that's smashing your Dd test was negative 🤗👏👏
Aren't the DC funny 😂 why on earth she didn't want to see the park is anyone's guess bless her🤗 😃
I am off to bed early have a good night sleep everyone💤😴🛌🛏️✅😃

Haha! That’s funny re the tantrum. It yes the weirdest things. Ds got upset the other day because he didn’t want cereal. Despite asking for and then eating cereal. “But I don’t waaaaaaaant it”

Then there’s the “dds looking out of my window” one in the car….

Good news re your dds test. Phew! That’s probably the last thing you need!

Dd went to sleep at around 730. And woke up at 5 that was it. So we’re counting that as sleeping through. Ish.

ememem84 · 23/08/2021 07:06

Today I’m working but DH is off. I’m hoping he’s going to sort his life admin shit out.

I’m going to take lunchtime to sort some of dds clothes for charity bag then alder what she has and what she needs. Same with ds.

HumbugWhale · 23/08/2021 07:10

Great news Meadow!

ememem84 · 23/08/2021 14:09

RANT ALERT - SCROLL PAST IF YOU WANT!

dh is trying to do his tax form - deadline for this is 31 August. because of our archaic tax system a our tax department will not look at my return until they have seen dhs. because the wife is legally the property of the husband. this is all changing soon. so as of net year should be able to submit my return and have it assessed.

dh is struggling to submit his return. the deadline to file the paper form was the last Friday in May. online deadline 31 July. this was extended to end of august.

dh cant work the app - which you need to sign in. there is a 5 working day delay on getting an account set up. he hasn't got time to wait for this. etc. he's blaming me for submitting my return in January - when we received notification that we could do them online. apparently if i had waited then he wouldn't have this issue now (unsure how...) all the white, i'm paying a higher amount of tax than i should be because they won't look at mine without his.

this means that he's wasted his days holiday. will have to now write a letter the tax office explaining why he wasn't able to submit the return earlier. and ask for an extension. only he has no legit reason other than laziness for not submitting the return. he has the information he needs. he just couldn't be bothered to do it.

oh the aggravation

Wolfcub · 23/08/2021 17:18

Em I'm afraid again I'd have sworn at that. This is not your fault nor is it anything to do with you. He's had eight months to do it and hasn't. His problem. I assume you will get overpaid tax back once he gets round to it. No less annoying but if you were permanently out Of pocket I'd be charging him

Dog is being an arsehole

Alarm service £75 for one tiny job I could have done myself and a 30 second bit of reprogramming. Bloody expensive 30 seconds

Need to clean bathroom in the morning before window men come to fix defect

Am a bit raaaaaaah with everyone. Work is bollox and I've got no patience with the bollox any more

Am Inputting recipes as meals/lists on the ocAdo app. I worked out my shopping needs to cost less than £9 a day for 3*2 meals, snacks and toiletries to keep in budget. It's amazing how many of our evening dinner regular recipes are over £9 on their own. Programming them in has been eye opening

Wolfcub · 23/08/2021 17:26

I misquoted the alarm costs. Apparently it was £115!!!!

marthasmum · 23/08/2021 17:28

Ooh em and wolf I think you both have good reason to rant. Blimey I'd be furious about the tax thing...it is the sort of thing DP might do hence why I am finance control
queen in our house.
wolf I hear you on the raahhh...I often think, why can't other people around me just do what they're supposed to do? And have less and less tolerance these days for laziness and flakiness especially if it means dumping on others.
Bit horrified by recent spends and upcoming expenses so I've just rejigged things so I am saving an extra £100 a month. Got small pay rise of about £50 pm which helped.
Less good, I paid £60 to have a super valet of the car - normally it's spotless so I feel it's worth it. This time it seems to have stirred up a stinky smell which I fear is the spilled latte of about 3 months ago resurfacing 😱 so I have scrubbed it again with pet odour carpet cleaner and going to spray loads of disinfectant spray on. Not v environmentally friendly but hopefully less stinky.
DPs birthday so about to make a cake. We are 50 and 60 next year!

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2021 18:16

Rant away em I would be fucking annoyed too
I hear ya wolf.
Bad but need to meal

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/08/2021 18:16
