Been to Iceland and £ shop as passing. Bloody hellfire.

Defo get the freezer on.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2020 13:02

wonder if I should go to a paint shop then if we have to self isolate I can do some much needed decoration….Hmm

Wolfcub · 15/03/2020 13:08

I've been thinking that too Life and have a few friends doing the same

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 13:12

Wolf & Life have done as you said, l totally needed your encouragement, thank you both Smile
Freezer has been cleaned and turned on for a 24 hr period & l will do a massive shop in the morning for Mum and fill the damn thing up Grin
Went to Morrisons did a huge shop for Bob and his cats , they should all be ok for couple of weeks now. It was manic in there but l did manage to get everything . My Mum's NDN is in her 70's so have got an order for her as well, will drop it off for her tomorrow mornign , we will hit Morrisons running at 7 in the morning Grin
I hope everyone is ok Flowers , try not to stress too much if you are worried about it . l am sure things will be ok after a period of time. I am not sure how long it will be before some semblance of normal but My Mum's dentist said he was told by the powers that be there should be a respite from it during the Summer months . He thought Mum would be ok for an appt in June so l am holding him to that Grin
Take care everyone Flowers

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 15/03/2020 13:39

I don't really like being inside for more than about 3 days, then start to get cabin fever too Wolf.
Did manage to get some loo roll yesterday at poundstretcher, they were only allowing people to have 2 packs of 24 each, or 4 packs of 12.
I only got a pack of 12 because I already had some at home.

Anyway going to wanstead park/epping forest for a kick about and hopefully the bluebells will be out!

Have a good Sunday all.

Taytocrisps · 15/03/2020 13:47

Better weather today so we drove to the gardens and got our walk in. The 'gardens' are tiny (a small walled garden) and not likely to win any awards. But there's a lake and a woodland walk. There was only one car in the car park when we arrived and a handful of cars/dog walkers arriving as we were leaving. We'd blue skies and sunshine while we were walking and it made such a difference. There wasn't much flowering in the gardens but it was nice to see some snowdrops and lenten roses.

There's are rumours flying that our Taoiseach (prime minister) will announce a full lockdown later.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 15/03/2020 13:55

Well we got to the forest, but it was way to boggy for it to be safe, so are now heading to a park.
I will have a kick about with dd today!

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2020 14:02

Well done Mrs. Even if it's not needed they can just use the food over the next few weeks and ease some of the burden on you.
I'm the only one left at home so I'm washing bedclothes, cleaned an overflow drain and swept my lawn. (Artificial grass)

Beef in the sc.

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 14:51

Thank you Life Smile yes, I will feel a lot happier knowing she has plenty in if l can't get to her . l will get the frozen stuff in tomorrow, the freezer should be fine by then. I know you have to have it on for a certain amount of time before you fill it . Well done on being so proactive Smile

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 14:54

My D2 sent me this haven't seen it here but l may be mistaken, forgive me if you have seen it.

ememem84 · 15/03/2020 15:17

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 15:47

I know EM GrinGrin
l love the poster it's so real and easy to understand Smile

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 15/03/2020 15:50

Great poster Mrs!

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2020 16:25

Ha, we do need the toilet paper...... Great poster

Wolfcub · 15/03/2020 16:58

I had some eggs on the turn so I'm making Yorkshire's for the freezer, combining frugalism with preparedness

Unescorted · 15/03/2020 17:21

life next time you are in Iceland can you do me a huge favour..... We get given this type of orange juice assets.iceland.co.uk/i/iceland/iceland_pure_smooth_orange_juice_from_concentrate__1l_53480.jpg?$producttile$ at the food bank and we aren't sure if it needs to be refrigerated or it lives on the shelf. The label says keep refrigerated but is unclear if this applys before opening as well as after. Next time you are in can you just check for me.... Thanks

Unescorted · 15/03/2020 17:22

applies not applys….. doh!

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2020 17:28

I've seen that one in the fridge in sure. I will check next time I'm in but it won't be for a couple of weeks.

Oh actually there is a little one in town. I will pop in tomorrow

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 15/03/2020 18:57

Mrs I have literally had every symptom on that poster, seriously wondering if I have had it!!

Spent £43 in pets at home, stocked up on the pets food plus a few extra bits.

Took the dog for a long walk, I'm tired now but generally feeling loads better.

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 19:07

Girlfriend l had a feeling earlier in the week you had it from your symptoms. I wouldn't have dreamnt of saying it to you but niw you are better l agree with you. Thank God you are better. The other conundrum is where on earth did you get it from? So glad you are better now Flowers Take care see how you go for work

Lovemaltesers · 15/03/2020 20:08

Toilet roll update:
DP found 2 packs of 9 rolls up in the loft Grin

DP said there were approx 50 people waiting to get into the supermarket this morning. And it was like food shopping at Christmas,

I took the DC to spend their world book day tokens and to return some clothes. We went shopping where there are no big supermarkets.

Glad you are on the mend girlie. You have been rather poorly.

My neighbour has collected all the phone numbers of 6/7 houses near each other and shared a list for us all. I think we are being eyed up as we are younger, and lots of retired folk in there. Lovely idea I thought.

Dreading work this week. I sort out cover for staff absences.

Our plans if we have to stay home and everyone is well. Decorate hallway and downstairs toilet. Sort through the loft. Do some gardening if the weather improves.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 15/03/2020 20:10

Unescorted, life I buy that one sometimes and it lives in the fridge in store.

Spends today
£4.78 in local mini market. But I was upset with them, they are selling tiny bottles of hand sanitiser for £5.99!
£3.85 in co-op on spinach, mushrooms and tofu.

Girlie, glad you are feeling better Flowers

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 15/03/2020 20:42

God knows mrs my dd had something very similar two weeks ago but slightly milder (her temp didn't go as high and she was able to function more than I was.) I haven't heard of any other cases locally at all and dd must have picked it up from school. What worries me is when I think about the vulnerable patients I saw the week before I became ill ☹️

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 20:50

Girliefriendlikespuppies they say the virus is infectious for 2 days before you have symptoms and 7 days after the symptoms start. So hopefully you won't have been infectius when you saw your patients Flowers
I know how you must feel but l am sure you took the proper precautions before seeing them. It is ingrained in us who work/worked for the NHS or in health when dealing with the vulnearable, try not to worry , easier said than done Smile
