Yes a significant salary rise. Thankfully.

ememem84 · 10/03/2020 19:15

We have Coronavirus here. Not actually us. But here on island.

Apparently we’re going into lockdown mode if we hit 40 cases.

Lovemaltesers · 10/03/2020 19:19

Great news life 🍾

Thanks for the new thread

Lovemaltesers · 10/03/2020 19:24

Someone at the uni which is effectively next door to work has coronavirus.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/03/2020 20:32

There is a confirmed case here but no other details than the person self isolated.

Wolfcub · 10/03/2020 21:13

Life that's absolutely fantastic congratulations Ginseasalt have a great sale at the moment if you need work dresses

Happier what a tosser, hopefully he does pay up but I appreciate the likelihood is he won't

We have a confirmed case locally given I've spent the last two days and a good chunk of last week on London public transport I don't think this puts me at any greater risk. Ocado shop just arrived with that and what's left of my brexit stash we will be good, although eating some odd meals, for at least two weeks. I am expecting work to ban all but essential travel soon and anticipating being deployed to other essential public services at some point in the next few months

I also expecting our Easter holiday to be cancelled

Work a bit fraught at the mo. I am a bit fed up

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/03/2020 21:16

Thanks wolf. I will pop over to sea salt.

We have been prepping for covid19 at work too. Obv it's big news for us given who we are. Not my bit though I'm in data.

AnUnlikelyWorldofInvisibleShad · 10/03/2020 21:42

Hi lifelong the clothes are just perfect. Soft and stretchy trousers with waistbands that dont dig in, very soft long tops that I wont have to keep trying to pull down because the riding up irritates me so much and a hoodie that feels as light as air. I can barely feel it on. All the clothes feel like I'm wearing pyjamas but are I think smarter. Exactly what I wanted.
I want the noise cancelling ear plugs because my two youngest children are getting older and I find them so noisy. When the children are playing or want my attention and possibly the tv is on or I can hear the washing machine or any number of things going on I cant tune the noises out. They just seem to get louder and louder and I get snappy. I'm finding I have to come out the room so often now in order to calm down and be able to go back in and cope with it. I think I should be able to afford them.
Congratulations on the job by the way.
I dont think we have any cases of coronavirus here yet but it's definitely in the county so only a matter of time.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/03/2020 21:55

Sounds great unlikely. And a good reason to get the headphones.
Hope it didn't come across the wrong way btw. We do often challenge each other on spends.

Where are you for the frugaleers map. I'm NE England?

Mrsmadevans · 10/03/2020 22:39

Congratulaions Life great news! Smile
Spends were 15 in Home Bargains, 21 in The Book People who have the most fantastic sale . 43 in Tesco. I bought 40 pkts of curry noodles for Dd1 , she's vegan and in case of lockdown she told me she will live on those ! Grin

AnUnlikelyWorldofInvisibleShad · 10/03/2020 23:37

I'm East Midlands Smile
No it didnt come across the wrong way at all. I think I need to be challenged on my spends really.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2020 06:21

Thanks everyone. And for your support.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 11/03/2020 06:25

Hi all, not been posting, things have just been so busy and a bit stressful here.

So will just keep up from here.
Spends yesterday
£14 something in morrisons on fruit, veg, eggs and some meat.

Welcome to any newbies.

Hope everyone else is ok?

Wolfcub · 11/03/2020 07:28

Lovely to see you Curvy

On the noise cancelling headphones they are great but if you are noise sensitive be careful that the counter-sound that's played doesn't bother you. Mine sometimes irritate me on trains or standing in a windy place

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 11/03/2020 08:17

Welcome unlikely sounds like you have SPD? My dd is very similar with clothing textures and too much noise.

I'm still feeling rough, got stuff going on with dds school that I could do without as well.

Did an online Morrison's shop Ystd but there's no delivery available until next Monday evening!! I'll probably end up booking it but Sod's law I'll be better by then and would be able to get everything for a lot less In Aldi.

Happierwithouthim · 11/03/2020 09:18

girlie when is last time you can cancel Monday's morrison's order?

unlikely sounds like you've sensory issues which I didn't realise when I suggested returning some of the clothes too.

Today will be €150 on spaying dog, necessary expense.

Dd is unsettled at the moment, spent last two nights in my bed.

Ds was within earshot when ex verbally attacked me over the solicitors letter, and spent 1.5/2 hours crying/shouting/hitting/speaking vulgarly to me, dd sensed it coming and took herself off to car.

Thanks wolf

I've replied to solicitor stating that I cleared the house and rest was ex's responsibility and that ex would be in touch, ultimately this will be futile as it'll come out of house proceeds regardless of ex's attitude. He made aggressive threats to me about purchaser too that she's starting off on the wrong foot around here, the purchaser is completely in the right and I think he'll face a visit from guards if he rocks the boat there. Glad to be out of there.

Hi yes I do have sensory issues. I'm currently waiting for a date for an autism assessment. I've been really struggling with my clothes for a long time and finally decided its time to tackle it and get something I can cope with wearing.

Happierwithouthim · 11/03/2020 09:55

unlikely that's a very worthwhile expense.

Happierwithouthim · 11/03/2020 11:03

Need a new Fitbit charger mine is missing, I spent hours looking for it on Sat with no joy. We've moved house, I've an entire room filled with stuff that will not be unpacked until I move again, it's possibly in there by mistake.

with postage from amazon it would be €14 but they were doing free delivery if you added £10 of books from amazon. For €20.42 I got charger, Fearne Cotton's Happy book for me, Dustbin Dad(fun play on topic of avoiding wasting food) and Backyard Hacks(science type book) for ds and the worst witch strikes again(fiction) plus Don't worry:be happy, a childs guide to overcoming anxiety for dd. I hate paying postage Grin

Had a nice visit at work before lunch, customer's wife came in and asked if she could speak to me outside. Said she called the day we got Christmas hols and I was already gone away, and she had just found the voucher she had for me while tidying today Grin she also had a big tub of quality street and heroes and said I could have them myself or share them out with contractors at work. Seeing as we are putting efforts in place next week for preventing spread of coronavirus I decided sharing them wasn't the best plan. Gave one tub to each of my colleagues I work with daily.

I've got a €40 Centra voucher Grin nice boost to the day. Will save it for something worthwhile for new house I think, rather than put it into daily spends.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 11/03/2020 16:01

That altercation with ex sounds horrendous happier, did that happen recently?

I've spent a bit online today, my dmum did some food shopping for me so put £40 across to cover that, £10 on 3 dvds on Amazon (all for dd as she has had a terrible week so far bless her) and £10 to the dog walker.

My puppy is now 9 months old! He's been a good boy this week keeping me company and seemingly not been too bored.

Happierwithouthim · 11/03/2020 16:50

It was yesterday evening when I picked them up and gave him solicitors letter from purchaser. He clearly didn't empty shed and tried to prove he did by showing me his van filled with bags of rubbish, I said sure that proves nothing have you photos of the shed completely empty?

Wow 9 months that's amazing!
