Ooh the “thou shalt not have fun whilst locked down” talk has started here too. And lockdown hasn’t officially begun...!

Appparently someone is being shamed on fb for daring to venture into their garden. And not sat indoors in a hazmat suit having a panic attack.

We need to treat this like the nazi occupation according to som of the fb idiots. To honour our ancestors. Er. No.

Wolfcub · 30/03/2020 07:31

There's nothing like a crisis to bring the loons out of the woodwork

ememem84 · 30/03/2020 08:02

Decided last night to start couch to 5k. Went for my first run this morning.

“You should be indoors” was yelled at me from a window.

I just waved and cheerily shouted “moooorrrrrrrning!”

Exhausted now. I prefer the couch

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/03/2020 08:03

Just turn the music up louder unescorted. Sorry you feel grumpy. Rant away lovely.

God the fun police boil my piss. Fuck off. Yes it's shit, yes it's stressful but we need to find ways to cope. Gah.

And breathe

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/03/2020 08:53

Em people are crazy, it scares me a bit how readily accepting and willing to (in some cases) forcibly enforce 'rules' people are. You can see how certain things in history happened... not saying the rules are wrong but it does seem to bring out the worst in some people.

I'm wfh today which means falling out of bed at 8, quick shower and breakfast and I'm in the office!!

Forgot to say I spent £30 on Amazon Ystd on some puzzles for dd and some gifts for best friends kids bdays.

LaneBoy · 30/03/2020 09:00

Gaaaaah don’t get me started on the “you shouldn’t be outside” lot! We (can’t speak for outside U.K. obv) are literally being told to exercise outdoors once a day. It is IN THE RULES. It’s not even that it’s fine if you need to, it’s encouraged because it’s good for you. Stagnating in poorly ventilated homes with no sunlight is not. Vitamin D is good for respiratory health apparently.

Muppets. 🤬

Oops. I guess I got me started. 😳😂

Thanks for the well wishes - definitely on the mend now, getting stronger and I can eat properly etc. Still worrying about symptoms worsening again (having read that the scary bit can take you by surprise) but I’m on day 13 now so fingers crossed whatever it is has left the building!

Wolfcub · 30/03/2020 10:05

The filthy looks when out walking really annoy me. Also people who make no effort to keep distance. We had to cross the road so many times on Friday to avoid (usually old) people who were determined to walk at us like Exocet missiles

Bornlazy · 30/03/2020 12:20

Lane I think you should be fine now. I know you will be wiped out for a while yet (as am I) but that’s doable.

I too am astounded by how easily most of us have just accepted these rules. I’m not saying we shouldn’t but It still amazes me and slightly concerns me too if I’m honest at how ordinary people are almost becoming vigilantes in their quest to stay safe.

Taytocrisps · 30/03/2020 14:33

I mowed the front lawn but I think I broke the mower Confused. It made a weird noise and then it wouldn't start again. I wonder how long it will be before I can buy a new one?

Mrsmadevans · 30/03/2020 17:06

Busy work day. Had to be late to a meeting in order to have a wee. No different to a Monday in the office Confused

Ocado shop arrived £195, £30 of which was for dparents. I've delivered that and sat at the opposite end of the drive to have a chat for 5 mins and cuddle the dog who is clearly v unwell. I cried on the way home (about the dog). Slightly annoyed with ocado as something just didn't show up - paid for, said delivered but not there and website doesn't allow for refunds. Also several items that I replaced yesterday because they were out of stock showed up as well as the replacement item. I thought I'd removed everything that was out of stock from my trolley.

Will catch up with the thread in a bit. Just watching today's govt doom forecast on tv

Happierwithouthim · 30/03/2020 18:05

I'm home from work due to lockdown luckily were being topped up for first two weeks and it'll be reviewed then again so that paycheck is 4 weeks away

On Friday I received proceeds from sale of house & over the days since I've paid off all 3 credit cards as there was a limit to how much I could transfer each day. Will pay off car loan tomorrow. Then I'll be debt free.

I got stung for cost of separation plus other stuff that I shouldn't have. Have it typed up & once I'm back to work I'll post it to ex, if I do it now there's too many opportunities for him to bring it up in front of dc.

Wolf sorry to hear about your parents dog

Tayto out with the scissors GrinIf Disney offer is still there I'll do it when we move to bought house with internet Grin love Disney

Only caught up to yesterday so far, I need to go home from my walk pee & then come down to where I've reception & read the rest Smile

Happierwithouthim · 30/03/2020 18:55

Tayto I've a rotary line that won't stay standing up so I've only use of some of the lines! There's one at house I'm buying too, I'll see how it goes. I'm used to fixed lines.

Covid baking has included scones & flatbread so far, going to try bread rolls with yeast tomo evening as I've got stove so will have heat to rise the dough. My last house had neither hot press or stove for warmth like this. Been acquainting myself with some of my Easy Food magazines as I've not got internet or channels so iPhone is just a borrow box app now as I've read everything I had downloaded to kindle.

Wow reading about life & wolf having sleet & snow! It's been cold crisp and beautiful here.

Tayto it's crazy how the Tesco slots are gone but luckily SuperValu aren't, just thinking if I needed to self isolate & get a delivery. Au pair has never done the shopping.

Delighted that my newly discovered cliff walk across the fields is within 2km limit, great to be out in fresh air & not meet a soul, I was very tired this weekend possibly all the fresh air Hmm

Yoga that was lovely of your garage

Unescorted just screenshot your sourdough instructions so from starting starter to making first loaf, seven days am I reading that correctly?

Wolfcub · 30/03/2020 19:19

That baking looks beautiful Happier

We've double home economics here tomorrow apparently. School have no sense

Unescorted · 30/03/2020 20:03

Happier so long as you get a really active yeast culture developing. leave the flour water mix un covered and somewhere that isn't overly clean. It will be ready to make the first loaf in 7 days ish…. but you will need 2 days for the bread making usually.

Wolf that is so sad about the dog. I know what you mean about it being no different to being in the office. I have been sooooo busy. Year End Joy!

Today I have avoided the Hairshirts so my humour has improved. Although we can say with certainty that it is locals who leave the bags of dog shit about.

Mrsmadevans · 30/03/2020 20:09

Love the baking Happier the cliff walk is absolutely beautiful , you must have loved it Smile, Marvelous news re you being debt free it such a relief and a weight off your shoulders Smile
Wolf l totally missed your parents Dog l am so sorry Flowers

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/03/2020 20:38

Stressful day of no internet. Apparently my IP address was blocked. They sent me loads of things to try which didn't work. Got it back randomly at 1500.
It keeps dropping in and out though. Bank on the phone to them tomorrow

Wolfcub · 30/03/2020 21:26

Life can you use your work mobile as a hotspot - that's our back up option if home WiFi goes down

Wolfcub · 31/03/2020 06:43

Pat day. Finally, March has been loooong.

Paid myself first. Also worked out everything I wouldn't have to spend with the lockdown in place and moved that to savings too. Made an overpayment to credit card.

Have a good Tuesday frugaleers

Accidentalaccountant · 31/03/2020 07:22

Well this really makes you realise how much you normally spend. I am still working but actually have nothing to do until next week
So have made a to do list
Yesterday cut grass cleaned out greenhouse, sowed a load of veg and cleaned out conservatory
Today I'm going to tackle the shed. I may be some time........

ememem84 · 31/03/2020 07:33

Morning all.

Have been given a voucher from BA for our mexico trip. Dh is a bit arsey about this as we don’t want a voucher but want our money back. I’m now trying to get a refund off of them. What do you reckon my chances are?

Wolfcub · 31/03/2020 07:36

Em I think your chances are fairly high. Be really clear this was for a wedding which now won't take place abroad. You have no reason to travel otherwise etc etc, can't guarantee an ability to travel within the life of the voucher and you want a refund. I honestly don't think they can refuse at the moment because the law they were pushing for has not yet passed (to my knowledge)

Taytocrisps · 31/03/2020 07:55

The Harry Potter lego arrived this morning. I can't wait to see DD's face when she opens the boxes Smile.

SnugglySnerd · 31/03/2020 08:22

Morning all! Sorry I haven't been keeping up very well but I've read back now.
We have taken the dcs put for a walk each day. It's doing us all good. Lots of people round here are out jogging/walking dogs but everyone is being very considerate e.g. crossing over to keep a distance.
I have to venture out to the shop in a bit for the first time in 2 weeks. I'm quite worried about it really. I have put on yesterday's clothes with the plan of sticking them straight in the wash when I get back. Dh is going to cover the kitchen table with an old towel so we can put the shopping on it and wipe it down before putting it away then the towel can join my clothes in the washing machine and I will get in the shower. How did nipping out for a few things become such a mission??
