I am technically off on Annual leave next week if it’s not cancelled so should be able to rest a bit longer 🤞

It is amazing how many times we nip to the shops. Being unable to do that really brings it home how much we take for granted.

Unescorted · 21/03/2020 20:13

Lane the poor mite. I hope it is short lived.

I am sooooo pogged. The bread was worth the effort. If you have a deep cast iron casserole with a lid, just do it. The levan / starter is just equal parts flour and water left on the side and left to fester(uncovered) to begin with. next day add equal part flour, water and the starter, same the day after … repeat for 7 days, by which time it should be bubbling. Then transfer about 100 - 150 to a jar and keep it in the fridge. I leave it a month or 2 between feeds (equal part flour, water, levan). When I want to bake I feed it a couple of days running so it goes pillowy. Then take any sourdough recipe … follow the recipe and instead of faffing with the ice cubes in the oven to create steam, heat up the oven with the dutch oven in it for about an hour, put the dough on a sheet of silicon baking paper, drop it into the hot pot carefully slap the lid on and hoik it in the oven.

ememem84 · 21/03/2020 20:17

Right. So. Latest news here is that we have 15 cases. Three more in a day. Yikes.

Wolfcub · 21/03/2020 21:43

Sad told bil for the first time in 2 years that I'm really missing his kids - my comment was ignored. I really felt I had to be brave to say that. He's the reason i don't see them, my sil would have me there in a moment Sad

Bornlazy · 21/03/2020 22:15

Wolf that is so sad. you would think that at a time like this people would see the bigger bloody picture.

em it’s terrifying watching it spread... I became a bit obsessed by it which did me no favours. All you can do is make sure that you and yours are following the guidelines to the letter.

I noticed something today with my dh. He was washing his hands and doing the 20 second thing with no actual water on his hands 😮 and then rinsing them and I’ve seen it on some of the demonstrations videos going around. It’s drummed into us as nurses that you must wet your hands before applying soap as to apply the soap without water is what causes your hands to become sore.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/03/2020 23:00

Sea I'll be back to community nursing services for 50% of my time, 50% still doing my current role. I'm a bit concerned that this is going to put me massively increased risk of getting CV. Nothing I can do about it though.

Wolf teenagers are bottomless pits for food, dd is like a stick though so no idea where it goes!! Thanks for the laptop recommendation I will have a look.

I have skype on my phone but have no idea how it works 😐 would be so weird to put faces to names though!!

We had to dash over to mums today as she rang in tears after injuring herself in the garden!! She was fine but did make a good point that she reckoned the amount of diy and garden injuries is going to massively increase 😬

We walked the dog and there were lots of people out and about, felt no different to usual tbh.

Accidentalaccountant · 22/03/2020 05:24

Now holed up waiting to see if incubating having been through 2 very busy airports to get home. Went to Tesco 6am yesterday and got everything on list. Also went to let shop and did stock up on pet food in case those supply lines halted in favour of human food.
Big dog walk but in middle of nowhere. So didn't see anyone.
Up early as body clock shot still

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/03/2020 07:08

Pick your gift of choice. X

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 08:27

Happy Mother's day to everyone whether you are a Mum to DC or a stepmum or a Mum to your fur babies 🤗😀
Thank you so much for the Bob love. I am mulling over what to do with the pr of them. Bob has 2 extremely spoilt cats , if he moved down to Mums it would be better but his place is far better for isolation. I think she should move up there tbh. I will mill it over. We here are not going to go out unless we have to. I have to go to Mum's l have no choice l am her carer. I think she will be safer up Bob's though. I have to weigh it all up. If Mum goes to Bob's then she will only have contact with Bob, me and my DD. If she stays there then she will be seeing. Me my DH, my DD, my sister possibly her NDN and possibly my Db and his wife. It's difficult because my brothers wife thinks it's all blown out of proportion and even though she is 67 herself & my brother has 4 stents and a history of heart attack hig cholesterol , she went to Bristol on Thursday with 3 friends shopping and eating out. There is no telling her. 🤯🙄🥺
Really don't know what to do but l know Bob to be part of the plan
Hey ho , such is life ,hope everything is ok with everyone , take care 🤗💐🌺🌷🥀🌹🌻🌼

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 08:30

Thank you life it's the cakeys for me every time 😂
Have a great one yourself 😘

Unescorted · 22/03/2020 08:37

MrsMad send her to Bob's. Your SIL has in effect taken her to Bristol. Self isolation is only as strong as the weakest link.

Happy Mummies day everyone!

Wolfcub · 22/03/2020 09:05

Happy mother's day lovelies. You are all amazing Daffodil

Wolfcub · 22/03/2020 12:10

We have been for a walk. Didn't see many people out and everyone we did see we all kept our distance. My friend is now having a go at me on fb for having been irresponsible by going for a walk Sad

Unescorted · 22/03/2020 12:33

Wolf I am about to go for a walk too. Northern Edge of Kinder.... it is the quietest part of the Peak. Ordinarily I would go out the back and not see anyone, but it has been like a sunny bank holiday Monday in the village.

This morning I have put not going out to good use. Bathroom cleaned, 2 loads of washing on the line, kitchen cleaned (including the skirting boards..... I am not well!), spiders dehoused and the nasty mould patches where there is a crack in the render and the back of the front door ( our front corridor until last week was the bike stack - I have reclaimed it) all cleaned.

Unescorted · 22/03/2020 12:34

I feel better for not looking at the news too.

SnugglySnerd · 22/03/2020 13:01

Happy Mother's Day all! It's a strange one this year.
We have had a bit of a clear out. Dh took some rubbish to the tip figuring too only speak to one person there who is behind glass anyway. We have sorted a big box of toys to out in the garage in the hope they will seem fresh and exciting in a few weeks. This has given us some extra space.

SnugglySnerd · 22/03/2020 13:02

Excuse typos. Btw I posted this morning but it seems to have gone. How are you all today, Lane?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 22/03/2020 13:37

Happy Mothers Day, you are all so amazing!

Thanks Born, it will be stressful while we sort out all the logistics, but I work with an incredible team and even though we will all be worried, we still want to do what we can to help.
Mrs, aww mum and Bob should be together.

I had to go out yesterday to get food.
Went out nice and early and avoided people as much as I could and managed to do a full shop, which was good because we will beginning to run out of stuff and all my local shops at work had nothing.

Have a good day everyone.

Lovemaltesers · 22/03/2020 14:09

DP spent £120 in Sainsbury’s. But that included food for work kitchen, two bunches of flowers, dishwasher stuff for my mum (she wanted a specific one) and our shopping. Wasn’t too bad crowd wise.

DC are back out in the garden. Washing is on the line. I’m sat outside in my coat having a ☕️

I’m hoping just to do trips to schools this week, supermarket/pharmacy, plus taking my mum to a hospital appointment if it doesn’t get cancelled. To be fair, probably not that much less than usual. We’re not the most social people except the DCs activities.

Lovemaltesers · 22/03/2020 14:10

DP also bought food for his parents too. They are due back from their cruise shortly.

LaneBoy · 22/03/2020 14:33

It’s not irresponsible to go for a walk though? We are meant to according to the advice as long as we keep our distance.

Thanks snuggly DS is definitely on the mend although still coughing, I’m just past the worse of the throat bit I think, not managed to stand up much but did eat some soup

Wolfcub · 22/03/2020 14:52

Yes that's what I thought too Lane and I've been back and double checked the gov website guidance which says I'm right but people are being unpleasant

I was feeling a bit fragile after the bil none sense yesterday and now I'm really feeling blue

So glad ds is improving Lane, hopefully you start to follow suit soon

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 22/03/2020 15:23

Lane the walk will do you good, obviously when you can Flowers Hope you are all on the mend soon.
Wolf it isn't fair if people are being unpleasant, many of us will go mad if we have to be in all the time. And I'm sorry your bil is a knob Flowers
