Camden can't you start with the small claims court? Or is it too big for that?

Wolfcub · 08/09/2019 15:18

Camden is he on any of the trade websites? Can you put some very factual negative feedback on them - he may feel pressured by that more than court if you do court action in tandem

I had to scale back Christmas massively last year, there are lots of tips on mn for making it special without spending as much as previously

Ds is driving me potty, he is home from camp in a right mood and disgustingly filthy

Frugal wins for this week - washing on the line. Couple of NSds, amazing gas and electric bill and good use of food. So my chicken in my 3for£10 did hot roast chicken baguettes for two (both breasts), chicken Biryani for two (one leg and all the other meat picked from the carcass), and greedy bugger chicken quesadillas for one (would have done for two with added veggies). Then the remaining wraps did spicy scrambled egg and wraps for breakfast.

I’ve done lots of shredding of paperwork this weekend and taken five big bags of books and clothes to charity

Downside I’ve had two near miss accidents. On Friday a woman in a four by four stopped and signalled to let me cross the road. As soon as I stepped into the road she set off and only missed me because I jumped back. Today passing some parked cars a guy on the other side of the toad decided to play chicken, sped towards my bumper and then ended up with some angry gesticulating. As ds was in the car I gave way but was quite shaken by the behaviour

ememem84 · 08/09/2019 17:05

£17 at beach cafe for a scone with jam (ds and I shared this as it was massive), chocolate brownie and ice cream, a fruit shoot and two flat whites. Pretty sure the scone was over a fiver.... but was nice to do as we rarely do this.

We parked at one end of the beach walked along the path to the cafe had food Dd had her bottle while dh and ds scampered about on the sand dunes like idiots. Walked back to the car. Fresh air. Exercise. Family time.

Both littlies are now fast asleep. I know it’s danger nap time for ds but he is tired as he didn’t sleep this morning. So fingers crossed. Will wake him at 530.

Am making a list of the things I need to speak to the dr about tomorrow.

Girliefriendlikescake · 08/09/2019 17:54

Evening all (or is it still afternoon?!) I'm knackered it's been a busy wend. Went out last night for friends birthday, only spent a tenner I think as I drove.

Today we went to the dog show, it was good but a long day for us and the little puppy! Not completely worked it out but think I spent around £30, we were robbed in a couple of the categories but he did win two special recognition rosettes 🏵 for being so cute!!

Early night for us all tonight!

CamdenTownie · 08/09/2019 18:30

Wreck - he owes us over £50,000 so way too much for small claims wolf We have left a review on My Builder which is where we found him, or he found us... but I don't think he cares one bit, I can't imagine ever doing that to someone and leaving them
In them position he's put us in, regardless of my own circumstances.

GingerOClock · 08/09/2019 18:42

Camden - that's awful, I'm so sorry, what an terrible thing to do Sad

Didn't make it to Wilkos in the end, such a nice day that we took the children for a swim in the river.

£100 for DS2 horse riding (for the month)
£6 Electric top up

Chicken roast dinner for tea, followed by blackberry cobbler with foraged blackberries and some UHT custard I found in the back of a cupboard!

Rightwayup · 08/09/2019 20:26

Nsd. Yay. Work this morning then 15 mile dog walk. Just home. Knackered. Realised have worked 18 out of last 19 days and I am meant to be part time so that is going well. Camden that is truly crap.

Happierwithouthim · 08/09/2019 23:55

Just made it to post by end of weekend - wasn't very spendy despite a local event today
In other news we've accepted full asking price on house & I'm currently house shopping. I've found one that suits & in the cupboard was a glass with my maiden name which is not a common name, it's a sign right?

Dc met my bf for first time in that capacity today & dd is smitten Smile it wasn't planned, just happened spur of the moment & I didn't obsess about it because I didn't have time. Bf suggested joining us at a local event & it was lovely.
Dd suggested he should be my next husband because he's funny and nice!

Just for any frugaleers wanting to lose a few lbs we have a spin off thread for that I'll link it tomo from pc

Need laska lovely & all other previous regulars you're missed here & we'd love to see ye back

maddenlightfoot · 09/09/2019 06:35

Morning! Happier so many positives for your weekend! Great news on the house and the spur of the moment meeting (what a sweet thing for dd to say too!)
Well my brisket was both success and failure. The meat was gorgeous and plenty left for tonight BUT the veg in the bottom was caramelised to a blacked crispy mess. I think I put in more veg than Jamie suggested and not as much stock as you lovely lot suggested. So a bit of a frugal fail as we had to cook emergency potatoes 😂
Overall it's been a LS weekend. Not too much planned over the coming week/weekend either. Back to work is making me feel shattered so trying to keep extra-life-curricula activities low key atm.

Happy Monday all! x

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/09/2019 06:43

LSD yesterday £6.
Footy was ok, had a mare with DD but it's sorted.

Great news happier. Pleased they like it and good luck with the house. It's a good sign.

Camden its a shit situation. The only thing is go back to basics with everything and see what can be trimmed. But also accept it's going to be a long haul to get there.
Big hugs my lovely.

Rain today after such a lovely day yesterday. Boo

You need to put a good amount of water into the stock pot with the beef.

northender · 09/09/2019 06:51

camden that's dreadful about the builder, I hope you get somewhere with legal action.
happier what a lovely response from your dd
girlie it sounds like a fun but tiring day
madden at least the meat was good & you'll do it differently next time

Well I wasn't as well prepared as I'd hoped yesterday, so no picnic food, but the club we were at did great teas at £3 a plate. So £6 on food, about £10 in total on drinks & other bits. Cricket was close but ds' team lost in the end. He was gutted but should be proud as he's done a great job.
Ds is having his braces fitted today, so I've taken the morning off work.

Wolfcub · 09/09/2019 09:33

Urgh on way to the big smoke and today (and the week) are shaping up to be absolute bastards.

Weight loss thread for anyone who wants to join us

ememem84 · 09/09/2019 10:26

At dr for our appointment.

Dparents have ds. Dm feeling better so have left them for the duration of appointment. Will take ds home after. Although he’ll no doubt be asleep.

I’m not feeling too good today. Just feel wiped out. Will mention this to dr. Although it’s probably a stress reaction. Busy stressful few weeks.

Nsd planned today. Although dsis just messaged me to let me know that gymshark have new autumn gear on their website. Grrrr.

Littlechocola · 09/09/2019 11:15

Back home, thank you for all of the kind thoughts.
He passed peacefully and I’m glad we were there with him.

Not back to work until Wednesday so a couple of days of self care.

Dh has dropped the bombshell that he will have no work between October and April. This isn’t unusual in his line of work but it had looked like he had regular winter work. I am starting a new job soon with a drop in pay which is doable when he has work but scary if he doesn’t. He needs to find something or I would be working overtime on every day off.

GingerOClock · 09/09/2019 11:35

Flowers to you little x

Did a big shop this morning. £76.
£10 to DS1 for his locker deposit and snack spends for the week.

My month end is on Thursday, and I'm £120 over budget this week. Hoping to not spend anything else until then!

northender · 09/09/2019 11:37

So sorry to read your post chocola, be kind to yourself. Hope your dh finds work.

Bornlazy · 09/09/2019 12:22

Little sorry for your loss Flowers

Spendy weekend - £53 for takeaway with family on Saturday 😲 It was our turn to pay and there was enough left over for dh and my dinner on Sunday but still... I’m blaming ds2 as he wanted pizza and I ended up just ordering takeaway for everyone instead of cooking.

Have ordered new furniture for ds2’s room today £450. Still need a new desk and kallax unit from Ikea which will be around £180 if I can just stay away from all the other bits 🙄

Feel like shit today dizzy and shivery so staying home and resting.

Bornlazy · 09/09/2019 12:25

Well done on the house sale Happier and lovely that your dd likes your new partner. It’s great to see it all working out for you. Did you get the dog and if so how’s it settling in?

Happierwithouthim · 09/09/2019 14:21

I did born and we love her and she's been very good for ds, I'm finding it a chore sometimes to walk her but au pair is doing it too so that's good and we close up the front gates and let her run around the lawns and she adores that too. She's taken a bit of training but now runs with me and is good on the lead too.

I was concerned as she'd lost weight since we got her and wasn't too great at eating her dry nuts so I gave in last night and bought some sachets of pedigree chum and she hovered up the lot.

Happierwithouthim · 09/09/2019 14:25

What furniture did you get?

WreckTangled · 09/09/2019 14:27

Thanks little

Great news all round happier!

Ds had his blood test this morning and was really brave. He didn't even flinch.

Both dc have swimming layer. Really cba to take them though it's so miserable. And it'll cost me £31.

CurlsandCurves · 09/09/2019 15:22

Hi, got a poorly DS2 at home today. He’s had a tummy bug all weekend. Got ready for school because he really wants done to go but then burst into tears just as we were about to leave saying his tummy still hurt. He’s definitely better than he was tho, not been sick in almost 48 hours and he’s actually eaten a decent amount at dinner last night and since then.

Did a food shop which was about £20 less than normal, very odd! Will go through my receipts in a bit to see what I did differently.

CamdenTownie · 09/09/2019 17:22

Hands up who's had a nightmare on the central line this morning 🖐

I was almost an hour late for work even though I left early!

And it's raining... happy Monday!

Had a pretty uneventful day at work, in my way home now, spent a fiver on snacks and fruit in Waitrose.

Gammon egg and chips for dinner, looking forward to that, it's a cobbled together from
The freezer dinner which I always feel is a triumph as usually I have a load of odds and ends that just don't go together!

Need to make plans this week for a under £50 food shop, so I'll have to raid the freezer and cupboards again to manage that.

Really feels like winter is on its way here, chilly mornings and early evenings have arrived!

Littlechocola · 09/09/2019 17:28

@CurlsandCurves hope your LO is better soon

@Happierwithouthim what breed?

DS has come home with the most awful haircut after being at xh. I’ll have to pay to get it fixed tomorrow!

Treated myself to a £7 bottle of wine.
