Em D's used to always end up with a rattly chest after croup. Steroids do work, but it's amazing how well the hot steamy room works, or taking them out into frosty air (we found that out by accident once!). Definitely worth trying if it happens again (frosty air rare in Jersey though)

Bornlazy · 04/09/2019 20:12

Nsd today but have had spendy few days. Ordered new sofa on Sunday but Topcashback had a deal on so will hopefully get £250 back.
Spent £61 in Sainsburys yesterday (should have been £70 but I had a £9 off a £60 spend) got a few yellow stickered items so should last the rest of week.

em I have no experience of croup but surely the fact that ds had to have steroids is a good enough reason to not want to go to meet anyone. I cant get my head around the fact that he arranged that without telling you Shock
life sorry about your MIL
Girlie I bet he was the cutest too

CamdenTownie · 04/09/2019 22:52

Hope all the DC's are settling in back at school!

Spent more than I planned today, £15.99 on jeans from Bershka for dd1, £15.99 on an (expensive) t-shirt for dd2 from Stradivarius and another £5.99. on a t-shirt (dd2 against) from Pull & Bear, I had somehow worked that out to £30 but obviously it was more like £38.

I have persuaded dh to take a trip to Ikea at the weekend to buy two sets of Malm drawers, and maybe some blinds, I will really need to keep away from the market place because that is my downfall.

SnugglySnerd · 05/09/2019 06:25

Another early start with the dcs. It makes me feel tired before the day has really started. Starting to feel a bit more in the swing g of things at work now at least.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2019 06:50

Well done on promo meadow and yes if you don't ask for a pay rise you done get.

Thanks for the week wishes re mil. She hates being in hospital but it's the right thing for her and she has had a better week already.

MeadowHay · 05/09/2019 08:31

Does anyone else have an infuriating commute?! I left the house at about 7.50, dropped DD at DM's and then went to the bus stop by her house which is one stop before my usual one. Bus was 20 minutes late and it is now 8.30 and the traffic is awful, I am only just past the stop after my usual one. Drives me mad and makes me feel traffic sick the constant stop starting for up to one hour on the bus alone. Angry

ememem84 · 05/09/2019 11:06

Dd is 10lb12!! What a chunker!! Health visitor came round earlier (at the same time as the plumber...)

Plumber was called as our hot water tank doesn’t seem to be working all the time. It’s on a timer and sometimes when it’s meant to be on we have no hot water. Frustrating.

Plumber took a look at the tank in the airing cupboard and said “Crikey that’s old!” So it’ll need replacing at some point. No rush though as he said he can’t see any signs of corrosion etc.

He’s coming back tomorrow with a new timer as he thinks it’s just not clicking on all the time.

Thatsnotmyflamingo · 05/09/2019 19:22

Today was NSD.

GingerOClock · 05/09/2019 19:33

Is this group open to anyone? For various reasons I'm on a very low budget, whilst trying to get some savings together. Could really do with a little hand holding!

Girliefriendlikescake · 05/09/2019 20:01

Of course ginger the more the merrier, welcome 😊

Managed a nsd today, first one in ages!

Had to bath the hamster tonight which is not something I say every day 🤣 the poor thing absolutely reeked of wee 🤢 she looked a bit surprised but otherwise okay!

Thatsnotmyflamingo · 05/09/2019 20:11

@Welcome @GingerOClock, always lots of good advice and support on this thread.

SnugglySnerd · 05/09/2019 20:27

Grin at bathing the hamster girlie!

Welcome ginger.

Broke my no spend week and brought 2 much-needed new bras today plus some cheapie work trousers from h&m.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2019 20:46

Welcome ginger

£8 for DD a new school bag but she didn't get one before they went back. £6 keyring for her locker key. £35 Sainsbury's on fine bits for DS

GingerOClock · 05/09/2019 20:53

Thank you everyone Smile

I am right in thinking you post each day with your spends? That's the kind of accountability I need!

I spent £10 on diesel to see me through the rest of the week. Then £4.70 on a panicked Moonpig card - which was a bit of a fail 🤦‍♀️

mogloveseggs · 05/09/2019 20:54

LSD today. £6.10 in Morrisons on extra packed lunch bits and sunflowers for dd's homework (nature drawings)
Pay day tomorrow but need to pay the phone bill (£150!) and the council tax £145.
DD came home today asking to go on the gcse geography trip to Barcelona-£600. So I need to find a job ASAP. Applied for 4 today. Not really what I want but will do for now.
In other news dm took kids to a jigsaw festival this afternoon and I tagged along. Excellent cake in the church cafe Grin

mogloveseggs · 05/09/2019 20:54

Hi ginger

northender · 05/09/2019 21:06

Welcome ginger you can use the thread how it best suits you. Some post daily spends, others general support making your money go further & lots of encouragement and handholding.

GingerOClock · 05/09/2019 21:12

Thank you northender Smile

Wolfcub · 05/09/2019 21:29

Welcome Ginger
That’s one hell of a phone bill Mog

Nsd I think.

Have to work for part of tomorrow on my day off. Not happy. Going for beer in the evening though so that’s a plus

Littlechocola · 05/09/2019 22:20

Awful few days. We were called away suddenly to care for a family member. In my shock I packed pj bottoms and a bra but nothing else so had to run out and buy an outfit and knickers today from Tesco.
Also paid for a hotel room that we didn’t use.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/09/2019 23:09

Fallen off the thread a bit but will try to keep up. Am starting again from here as I haven’t read back all the way, hope I haven’t missed anything big and everyone’s okay?

Welcome Ginger

Hadn’t spent much for the last week or so until today (work keeping me out of trouble!) but today I was collecting an old favourite necklace from our local jewellers after repair and I saw a silver and amethyst locket I really liked. £55, so I bought it. Very naughty. I then spent £6 on Oddprints getting teeny pics of the DC ordered to put in it. It will give me a great deal of pleasure to wear the DC 😍

Ocado basket is already at £140 this week - last week was lower than usual (£70) but this time I need cleaning stuff, laundry stuff, nappies, sanitary towels, and (ahem) products for my ‘sensitive’ bladder BlushGrin. They are expensive so I might see if there is an equivalent of period pants for every day wear. (The reliability of my waterworks hasn’t improved much and DD is now 2. Might be bothered enough one day to go to the doctor! Sorry about the tmi.)

I need to write some Christmas lists and work out what I can get sorted early. I always aim to be done with gift shopping by the beginning of December but I’ve never managed it yet!

I am also doing a bit more decluttering - there’s a jumble trail in my area on 14th so I can register and set up a stall outside my house to try and sell a few bits. Anything that doesn’t sell can go to charity. I’m not sure it’s quite worth my time (in that things tend to go for car boot prices so I doubt I’ll make very much from it) but on the other hand it will focus me on the decluttering. Then I can sort out my shit for getting the work on the house underway. Must keep plugging away!

Just one day to the weekend 💪🏻

ChristmasSeacow · 05/09/2019 23:10

Gosh sorry Little, I didn’t refresh so missed your post. Hope everything is okay? Are you still away or can you get home soon?

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/09/2019 06:41

Oh no little. Sorry to hear that.
Do the jumble sea. May only be a few pence but better than nothing. I also use those bladder products. Get thee to a woman's physio it's marvelous.

Who knows what today will bring. Aiming for a nsd

Littlechocola · 06/09/2019 09:02

Thank you. Still away, no idea when we will go home. Sadly it’s end of life care so no getting better Sad

WreckTangled · 06/09/2019 09:27

Sorry to hear that little

Meadow I'm lucky that the worst thing in my commute is deer and meeting other cars Grin (single track road) only takes me ten minutes to get to the office. If I'm out visiting though it can easily be an hour
