Em sorry ds (and you) had a rotten night again. I second Life’s suggestion. Loads of milk/water and something cold to suck. Have you got some of those freezable teething rings?

Shattered here too. Even with painkillers I can’t get more than a few hours sleep. Busy work day today too so need to snap out of it and woman up.

Happy frugal Thursday everyone

WreckTangled · 18/10/2018 06:52

Em could you do a half day each? Dh and I sometimes do that if I've got things booked in in the morning. It's really hard trying to juggle ill children with working.

My drs are really good. You phone in and the dr calls you back, if they can deal with it knee the phone they will but if not they'll offer a convenient appointment.

Girlie exciting about the boots I loooooove new boots!

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 07:17

He’s been asleep for over 2 hours!!!! Yay! And I got a straight 2 hours too. Yay.

I don’t think dh is awake yet so he must have turned my alarm off.

Half days a good shout wreck but dh can’t do that he’s got meetings both this morning and this afternoon. All I have on today is beauticians appointment at lunchtime (will reschedule as it’s not important) and a wine tasting event. Which I desperately want to go to but I did say uestrlerday to dh that I’d cancel it as evenings are when ds is worst. Also if we have another night like last night I don’t want to be dealing with no sleep a screaming baby and a smidge of a hangover. Sigh.

Anyway. Spends today: £250 from my savings to my savings. It’s my pay myself a few days before payday because I set up a regular saver in the bank and can’t change the date of the standing order. Annoying as I usually like all my so’s to go out on the same day.

WreckTangled · 18/10/2018 07:24

That's fair enough it's much easier when only one of you has something v important booked in.

The battery of our hoover just fell out and landed on my foot 😭😭😭 I swore lots which made dd cross with me 😳

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 07:38

What on earth are you doing with a hoover at this time of morning wreck

WreckCat had sat on my nice chair with a dirty bum 🤔

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 07:56

Oh dear. Naughty wreckcat.

Dh has just magnanimously suggested that he comes home for lunch so I can go to my appointment. But reminded me that he’ll have to be back within the hour. It’s a kind offer but not going to work really.

Ds is sound asleep still.

Aargh just got blue cross sale email from debenhams and stuff I bought last week has been reduced even further Angry lesson learned though wait for blue cross sale in future.

wreck I'd swear too & I'm not a sweary person in front of dc usually.

this au pair has been with us 3 years, initially agreed a year, when that was almost done she said she'd stay 5, not sure if that included first year or not, I'm not going to question when she finishes with us until she brings it up, because dc love her and she looks after them very very well. Naturally enough I've got things I've got to bite my tongue about but that's normal enough when someone other than yourself is caring for your dc.

Hope ds feels better soon em

CurlsandCurves · 18/10/2018 08:08

Hugs to everyone having rubbish sleep at the moment xx

One of the remortgages I’ve been doing is due to complete on Tuesday. And I get a little bit back, about £135. Which is great because I just had an opticians appointment yesterday and needed new glasses which came to £125. So that’s them paid for! Hoping to hear back about the other remortgage by the end of today.

Hopefully a NSD today. They seem to be getting increasingly rare, must try harder. She says as Christmas looms on the horizon...

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/10/2018 08:49

Interesting short article on wish lists/wish farms link
I like this idea.

Curls I'm still burying head in sand about Christmas until ds birthday out of the way.

Booked his party yesterday, another party has bouncing castle before it so we're negotiating a rate for both parties and splitting it three ways so maybe €60 each. Centre itself costs €120 for 20 children plus €2.50 per child over that, class is 17 children plus extras for us and those that the classmate we're sharing party with has, so this cost will be halved. I'm going to order lucky bags from partybags.ie for €1.25 each rather than fill ones myself, don't think I'm going to compete with that Grin only other cost is cake, which will be mates rates - perhaps €30/€40 still a few hundred euro for a couple of hours Shock plus present, should be half covered by H.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/10/2018 08:50

Great to have your glasses covered by money back. I've opticians on Nov 3rd, I get a 'free' pair of glasses every two years with my lensmail so it's time for a new pair this year. I only wear them maybe once a week so they don't come to much harm really.

Bornlazy · 18/10/2018 10:13

Senescent has your buyer paid yet? I would never dream of bidding for something and not paying I thought that wasn’t allowed.

SenescentLeaves · 18/10/2018 10:25

born I know, it always boggles my mind when people do that. He just wrote to say that he is trying to get the money together. I wrote back to ask if that is likely to happen soon and to say that I would much rather sell to him in a couple of days than to have to relist. Fingers crossed.

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 10:29

I hate when they do that.

I’ve had people not pay then complain that they haven’t recieved the item. They haven’t recieved it because I haven’t posted yet. I always put that I’ll post two business days after receiving payment.

Ds is napping. In his cot. He’s eaten breakfast - couple of chunks of melon half a piece of toast and a biscuit. Not the best breakfast but it’s something.

So far I haven’t given him any medicine. He doesn’t seem to need it. I really hate giving it to him but obviously do if I think he’s in pain. Poor baby is exhausted.

My buyers cheques finally cleared via PayPal. So I need to post the item. Will do it tomorrow.

Bornlazy · 18/10/2018 11:02

Hope he manages to pay.

mammy I just checked and a present I ordered for Christmas has gone down another 20% on Debenhams. That is so annoying - I might take it back and repurchase...

em glad ds is eating something. Mouth ulcers are awful my ds had them a few times when he was younger - have you tried Bonjela?

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 11:09

born no I haven’t. I have a feeling he’d just eat it. I’ve asked dh to get some though today so will see.

OP posts:
Bornlazy · 18/10/2018 11:38

If ds still takes a dummy think you can try a little bit on that.

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 11:57

Duh. Why didn’t i think of that? Thanks!

Is HFM contagious via the medium of Mumsnet? 😂 I think Cagletini has it 🤔 at least her feet are really spotty and there are a couple of blisters on her foot and leg and tongue. I then noticed loads when I changed her nappy and nhs site did say it could spread to that area. I think it is that anyway, my older two never had it but the blisters look like the photos. So could be 😣 she doesn’t seem too bothered so not sure!

ememem84 · 18/10/2018 14:17

Oh no cag that’s not good!!!

Spendy day. Oops. I’ve been through my wardrobe and have ditched a few bits (which I will take to charity tomorrow). I have bought a new pair of black work trousers. Identical to the pair I already have - but they fit well and I wear them a lot and I find it awkward to find trousers that fit right. #justified

I’ve also bought myself a new pair of ugg boots. Unnecessary. But I did say I’d treat myself for my birthday. So. Happy belated birthday to me. I did wear my other ones to death. So hopefully these will last another 8 years or so. Both purchases via top cashback. Yay.

Have emailed the removals company to see if they’re available next week to get our stuff from storage. So hopefully we’ll have a move in date soon.

Ds is napping again. Lunch was fairly boring and he grazed his way through it. Bread, cucumber sticks, a baby bell cheese. I had his beans. He just wouldn’t eat them and preferred to help himself. So I had the beans and we then had a living room floor picnic.

Cag I just had a conversation in which I said the right things and solved a problem. I've been trying for a year and a half to solve that problem and I finally did it. Yay! (once again, very glad that you are here so I can tell you.)

Still no payment for the ebay thing.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 18/10/2018 15:23

Poor DS @em, I hope he is back to normal soon.

Yesterday was spendy as we had a little minibreak for our wedding anniversary
£210 hotel
£4 lunch
£8 top up shop

thistimenextsummer · 18/10/2018 16:18

Mammy it sounds like you really value and look after your au pair really well. It's such a two way relationship when we entrust our children to others.

Curls I sorted out my Christmas stash last night - I've accumulated quite a few stocking presents but still need mains closer to the time and there are always expenses I forget every year. I'm trying to think ahead though - have 4 bottles of fizz and little boxes of posh chocs stashed for last minute invites (remembered this after battling to the supermarket last year on NYE and getting stuck in horrendous traffic jams when all I needed was a gift for the party we were off to). I'm popping into town this evening so hoping to fit in a bit of shopping before dinner.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/10/2018 16:30

Nsd.

There’s some CheckoutSmrt offers on alcohol, vodka, gin, Malibu etc. Combined with the supermarket offers its a good price.

WreckTangled · 18/10/2018 16:32

Nsd. Third day in a row. And that's it for work until after half term woo hoo! Apart from two days at the toy shop...

Anyway. I need to food shop tomorrow which the dc so need to try and meal plan tonight.
