Yeah summer that’s what it was.... not me counting down when I can leave work and sleep haha

£7 boots on nappies as Dm let me know we’re running out. I knew this already but had been meaning to buy new ones for a week....

Also on way back popped into nursery - told the manager not to expect ds in tomorrow. She asked whether it was the “high temperature cough virus” so obviously it’s going round. But she said she’d expect him on Wednesday. They’re seeing it a lot and it’s generally two days of hell for the parents and then they’re fine. really hoping today was day two....

I have tomorrow off anyway (as was supposed to be going to a funeral) but will stay home with ds. We haven’t had a Mummy and Ds day for so long. So although he’s not well we can have a nice day hopefully.

Dh has had a spendy day. Around £1500 on washer, dryer, freezer, bracket for tv. He works with someone who’s husband works at the electric co and they sell white goods. She has wangled us a discount plus cashback plus free delivery. Bosch appliances. Super energy ratings and big drum sizes.

Happy with that.

Good work emdh Grin
Nsd & only money that left my account was for fuel direct debit

Wolfcub · 15/10/2018 17:51

Em your dh did well there. Very frugal. Hope ds feels better soon

Sea I am in awe of you working in costa, I’m not sure I could do it I would find it too distracting

A number of work frogs have been eaten today but I am bog eyed from two nights of very little sleep and it’s my super early start tomorrow. Urgh!

We were going to have fish for tea but I decided to save that for Wednesday and have broken out the instant pot for a joint again.

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 18:03

We had veg tagine for dinner and there's enough left over to do my work lunches.

Justanothermile · 15/10/2018 18:04

I knew that's what you meant emGrin. Good news about the white goods haul.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/10/2018 18:05

Thanks for all the nice messages, am fed up with feeling a bit rubbish again! Seems never ending atm.

Nice to hear from you meadow I felt exactly the same about the baby stage, dd also cried a lot and was generally quite hard work. I implemented a routine eventually as was going out of my mind. It definitely helped a bit, dd still likes a routine now and I felt more in control iykwim. Dds routine was loosely based on the contented little baby books by the lady we're not allowed to mention on mn 😂

Spent £8.80 on a prescription today and £1.20 on parking. Also £3 on biscuits for work and a drink.

Justanothermile · 15/10/2018 18:07

Tofu stir fry for tea.

Yes fluffy, good idea. X

QuiteFabULousDahling · 15/10/2018 18:08

So glad to be home
Urgh drizzle
DH forgot to take out the mince for the chilli but remembered to take out sausages for making himself sausage sandwiches for work tomorrow ConfusedHmm

He thought it very unreasonable that I told him we would have sausage traybake instead (DH DD Me) and suggested we could have an omlette while he ate half the sausages tonight and had the other half for sandwiches.
Words were exchanged .
We are having sausage traybake Grin

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 18:14

89p for milk for work. Bit annoying as I don't drink milk and I bought coffee last but someone else bought loads of biscuits and I ate them Grin when I say it's a bit annoying that's only because we are on a very tight budget this month and that's effectively taken 89p away from dh's fuel budget Blush I would be very generous with my money if I was rich Grin

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 18:15

Quite Shock I would be eating the sausage all by myself Grin

northender · 15/10/2018 18:23

Will catch up properly later but just had to post this for all of you admiring my studying & working etc "Thank you for your essay Northender. I'm sorry but this doesn't meet the requirements of the Learning Outcome at this academic level." GrinGrinGrin. It was just a practice......work to do!!

ChristmasSeacow · 15/10/2018 18:26

I went to pick up DD early from nursery rather than wait for DH to collect her on his way home. I couldn’t wait to see her ❤️. They said she’d been really good all day. She’s just hijacked DS’s fruity pudding (having supposedly had tea at nursery). Both dc were eating streawberries while going on about wanting raspberries HmmGrin. Spoilt little horrors.

I’ve got my whole day off with DD tomorrow, except I really must do a bit more work, probably in the evening, before heading into the office Wednesday and Thursday. I decided today that I found Costa easier to work than at home because I’m not distracted by other jobs (laundry! Ooh, perhaps I’ll just quickly make some soup! Ooh, that grouting could do with a going over!). The white noise in the background is good for me too. They might see a lot more of me the cheapskate who makes a cup of tea last 2 hours. Can’t eat the cake cos on a diet

I was just tickling DD and whenever I stopped she said ‘more tickle please’. Or rather ‘more tickle prease’ as she’s not quite got her tongue round that yet. So cute. I’ve really missed her today, she’s just getting to the point of being quite good company and I go back to work! I determined to make the most of my one day a week with her. Might check out the local ceramic painting cafe tomorrow, see whether there’s good grandparent Christmas gift potential. I am sure DD can do, er, fingerprints or something?

QuiteFabULousDahling · 15/10/2018 18:29

Wreck
I am tired, hangry and drizzled on.
He saw the look on my face and started chopping sweet potato 😂
Just realised that there is left over apple pie 😍
I have a squillion calories as I did gym and swim this morning so f*ck it !
Hope DS is feeling better soon and you get a good sleep -Its DH turn tonight ?
Good news on the white goods -I love a new appliance !

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 18:36

So not only is your little one a really advanced talker, she is also immensely polite! 😍😍😍So cute!

Just spent yet more on clothes, I was at home feeling sorry for myself so took baby to Asda in the hope of finding a few of the bits we need. Not everything was there though so will still have to do click and collect at some point. Glad I did wellies though as needed a smaller size than I thought

Taytocrisps · 15/10/2018 18:48

Hope you don't mind me posting without my usual catch up. I've a lot going on atm. We've had some busy weekends which means we've been spending more than we should on take aways and doing quick top up shops in the local shop, instead of planned supermarket shops. Things should get back to normal in the next 2 - 3 weeks.

I had to bring DD back to the doc with her infected ingrown toenail. The doctor is making a referral to the childrens hospital, so they'll send us out an appointment. In the meantime, the doc has prescribed two sets of antibiotics. €30 for visit to doc (she didn't charge me the full amount as it was a repeat visit) and €15.76 for prescription.

I've joined a ladies club where I live. They meet on Monday mornings which suits me as I'm off Mondays. Part of me feels a bit funny about it because (in my head) I'm way too young to be joining a ladies club. Also, a lot of the members seem to be very arty and crafty and I'm not, so I'm not sure how I'll get on doing crafts. But hey, nothing ventured and all that. They're also talking about doing things like yoga and mindfulness which I probably would enjoy. We'll see......

It's been a gorgeous autumn day here. I'm loving the fab autumn colours and trying to absorb it all before the greyness of winter sets in.

Happy to see sprouts back in the shops. I'm cooking them for dinner today. DD was less excited and opted for sweetcorn Smile.

Oh, we got our dishwasher at the weekend. Finally! I wasn't here when it was delivered and couldn't figure out where DH had left the cutlery basket. Turns out there's no cutlery basket - there's a flat shelf at the very top of the dishwasher and the knives, forks, spoons etc. go in there.

I'll put the kettle on for a cuppa and a doughnut and have a read back.

NursieBernard · 15/10/2018 19:06

Having lurked for a long time and also the fact that I’ve just had to transfer another £700 + to my 0% Credit Card would it be ok to join please?

I have just changed Elec & Gas suppliers, and been through all my Direct Debits and Standing Orders and cancelled/negotiated those that I could.

There’s me, DH and 3xDS. We both work yet still don’t seem to have enough money to make it to the end of the month, so some massive overhaul needed somewhere Confused

LonelyOversharer · 15/10/2018 19:06

For one day only, I have 30 grand in my bank account. It will be divvied out by tomorrow. But. It is done. Ten years of overspending, pretending everything is peachy, keeping that sodding shop afloat stops now.

No more debt. No spending on credit cards that I cannot repay in the same month.

One monthly payment vs 5, and from the 1st of November, I'll be paying back my debt, not barely covering the interest payments (my mortgage payment is the same as the monthly interest my debt was making Shock). It will leave me better off by £400/month immediately, and better off by thousands and thousands in the long run. Thankyou Lloyds Bank!

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 19:18

You are awesome lonely you are tackling this once and for all and that is even bigger than your temporary bank balance ❤️

Hey tayto! Ladies club sounds good!

Welcome nursie love the name! Yay Blackadder ❤️

Cagletini has tried her wellies on 😍

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 19:20

Oh and you will all be pleased to know I BOUGHT SOME TUPPERWARE

Asda are doing tubs in just the right size with those clicky lids, BPA free etc for a quid. Got five. To start.

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 19:24

I will experiment with some cheapies at some point too I expect. But I was impatient and I also find the clicky ones easier than normal lids when my hands are hurting 😳

QuiteFabULousDahling · 15/10/2018 19:24

Welcome nursie

Go lonely!! It'll be so much more manageable and you'll be able to have guilt free treats now like you CP trip.

Dd is being so horrible tonight I'm petrified of when she becomes a teenager 😨

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/10/2018 19:35

Tayto I like your updates, its a use it how you want thread. Is it your first dishwasher?.

Lonely 👊🏻

Nursie Is your dh on board? Have you kept a spending diary? Reading Alvin hall books helped me loads.

LonelyOversharer · 15/10/2018 19:39

wreck tis a nightmare. Tonight at tea dd2 kicked dp. Yesterday night she slapped dd3. Hormones are unpredictable. I have shouted at her, talked to her, cuddled her, and have confiscated her phone for tonight.

Dd3 is all packed for her residential trip. She'll be away until friday. She's so very excited, and is causing a lot of naughty trouble tonight. Sigh. Roll on bedtime!
