Go steady there wreck.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2018 07:30

Good tips Mountains

love no 20% voucher here, silly question but have you googled?. Someone in style and beauty might have one.

ememem84 · 18/05/2018 07:30

I hope so life for his sake as those things aren’t pleasant as well as mine (dh is out out tonight so I’m on my own...!)

Frugal update: remember I bought those reusable pads? I’m really getting on well with them. I haven’t bought any icky plasticy disposable ones this month. Ok so it’s saved me maybe £7. But each month....that adds up. I’ll still buy disposables for holidays travel etc as much easier. But for Home, amazing.

Wolfcub · 18/05/2018 07:31

Em I have the fear of sick too. H always used to deal with the very rare instances of sickness ds had. Glad it seems to have passed over and ds is ok.

I’m due to have a day off today but I’m on alert as I may have to work, not exactly relaxing. Might go and buy some danish oil and do the kitchen table. It’s h’s turn technically and I’ve bern waiting about four years for him to do it so it’s time to woman up

I have used them for years em and love them .
I also use washable make up pads they are round just like the cotton disposable ones and cheeky wipes instead of baby wipes.
I have little nets bags to keep them in and when full I pop into the wash.
Genius

CremeEggThief · 18/05/2018 07:59

Just a quick post to keep up with spends.
Yesterday: £10.50 bus ticket to get to work and 60p chocolate bar. I had to borrow the £10 from DS, as I have no cash until Monday!

I'm £3.25 overdrawn, so I'm going to try paying it in to my bank, to save the fees. I hope they'll take it, as it's coins!

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 18/05/2018 08:30

Unescorted, Skye is a stunning name Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2018 09:46

Disposable cot covers would be the best for sick bugs. I wonder if anyone makes them.

QuiteCleanBandit · 18/05/2018 10:01

Those disposable nappy changing pads or puppy pee pads Grin are brilliant for youknowwhat 🤢 or when its early days with no nappy at night .
Cot mattress protector /disposable pads/fitted sheet /disposable pad/fitted sheet.
If there is an accident of either sorts just whip off the sheet and first disposable pad and you have a clean bed ready to go at 3am .
Luckily mine only ever had one bug as Im paranoid and a manic handwasher

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/05/2018 10:06

My ds had about a million and I know a lot about the practicalities of dealing with it. Not sure I can bring myself to type it though. I didn't enjoy it much.

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/05/2018 10:10

My ds has gone off on a mission to stay at school for lunch today. He took a packed lunch because the administrative minutiae involved in getting a non-wheat lunch are too bonkers to contemplate.

That means I have 6 hours to contemplate the universe today instead of 2.5 and then 1.5. Gawd the excitement.

Wolfcub · 18/05/2018 10:31

Turns out if you leave danish oil in your cellar for enough years it solidifies. £18.90 b&q for new danish oil and a brush. The reviews of wilkos danish oil, which I was going to get, we’re not good. Table done, it’s a damn sight easier with a brush than a cloth which is what I’ve always done before. Not being brilliantly mobile though and having to crawl under the table to do all the bottom bits does mean I now have danish oil in my hair, down my shoulder and across both hips and bum. C’est la vie

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 18/05/2018 10:35

wolf i had to google what Danish Oil even is!!! Hope you manage to wash it off yourself ;)

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2018 10:41

If you leave it in a bowl of warm water does it liquify again? Like olive oil.

I’m doing tomorrow’s dinner today so I can watch the wedding.

Wolfcub · 18/05/2018 10:54

I’m not sure Fluffy, I think I’d had the bottle 11 years and there was no sloshing at all, what was round the neck of the bottle was definitely crystalline and discoloured. Slightly annoyed we didn’t use it up as it isn’t exactly cheap. Table looking better already though can’t wait for it to dry.

I just had a big argument with a woman in a car park. I won. All I did was ask her to move her car over so it was in the space and she got really angry 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2018 12:04

Ash you’ve had your moneys worth then.

LonelyOversharer · 18/05/2018 12:17

Thats terribly brave wreck! I tend to scurry away muttering. Except for that one time when I was 41wks pg and lost my shit in the p&c spaces. Even that didn't bring on labour.

unescorted such a pretty name! I have a Flora is that better or worse than quiona ! She's ditsy and scraffy and it totally suits her. Only the school caretaker calls her "marge" - which she loves. We call her Floppy as she has hypermobile ankles and knees so she's always on the brink of tipping over.

No spends so far, but it's dp's birthday 46 tee hee so will go and get him some new tshirts (need not want), and a nice coffee. Will do a quick chocolate roulade for pud (nigellas yule log from feast is the best recipie). He does not like or want fuss.

sunny Flowers for you today, staying for lunch has been a long time coming hasn't it. I hope he has a great lunch time, the social eating thing is good for them. Mine take pack ups too.

Is anyone else a bit sick of all the Royal Wedding schiz on the telly? I wish them well, but honestly! Its like everyone is cashing in.

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/05/2018 12:20

Thanks Lonely. It gave me a longer time to think today, which was nice. I've just been to pick up a new lens for my science grant work, and I have more time to try to rebuild my fiddle which is good. Must remember to eat.

MrsOH2004 · 18/05/2018 12:33

Hi everyone, nsd here today, still have £20 in my purse for top up shops too, will pop Asda tomorrow for wine as that's my usual Saturday evening treat, plus I've booked it off work.

Work later until 7pm, I really need to ring staff bank to book more shifts, but haven't yet.

Bloody cat is doing my head in, he doesn't seem to like any of the food I buy him, so I'm just giving him dry food now and tough luck if he doesn't like it, the dog seems to though.

ememem84 · 18/05/2018 12:35

£5 lunch.

Ds now has a new bank account. Yay!

And I have a new regular saver which gives me 5% interest if I pay in £250 per month and don’t take the money out. Woop.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/05/2018 13:13

Is that for an outside table Wolf? I have a teak Garden table and chairs that needs treating. Last time I did it I used some stripper stuff first which brought it up amazingly but killed my grass 😕. Did you have to prepare the surface first - and do you have pictures of the end result?

I quite want to watch the wedding. I’m not especially a royal fan but I love weddings and wedding outfits! Dd and I have matching dresses from Asda (naughty! £16 total!) for the occasion but I don’t think we can go to the tea party thing we were planning to go to so we’ll have to wear them in front of the telly. A bit of a waste. DH is Hmm. Grin

Back is feeling quite a bit better today - still very painful but I can get in and out of a chair on my own, woo hoo! I have a very complicated plan for next week involving part time nanny, various friends, lifts here and there, DH taking one day off... I still need to find a home help for 2 days and work out how to do the school run in the afternoons. Nanny /friends can’t drop DS off without me as he simply won’t go with people he doesn’t know well Confused. So it's complicated (and expensive!) but we are getting there.

I have also found a tree man to come and have a look at the magnolia on Sunday. Sunny your RHS suggestion is an excellent one and MIL is a member so could probably ask. I’ll get on it. When I can track MIL down, she has gone MIA. Probably on another holiday that I’ve forgotten about.

DH took the car in for its service today but was given an automatic as a courtesy car, which it turns out confused him no end. He was pale and incredibly stressed by the time he got home! He’s not very practical so was completely thrown by it. And cross with me for booking it. Even though I actually booked a manual.

Sunny I hope the lunch goes well today. I am sure it will be good for DS to have play time with his classmates some days at least. Especially when they can all get outside in this lovely weather.

DS and I are missing a lovely stay-and-play picnic after school today run by the PTA. The good thing is that DS had no concept of it and so isn’t disappointed but I am! Bring-your-own picnic on the school playing field with a cake /prosecco/Pima /ice cream stalls, with nice school friends for company... but if I sat on a picnic rug at the moment I would literally never get up again someone call the fire brigade!

ChristmasSeacow · 18/05/2018 13:17

Btw Skye and Flora are both lovely and PROPER names. Much better than Keen-Wa!!!

DD has a nature-y name. Not Quinoa though Wink. I am so pleased I chose it.

ememem84 · 18/05/2018 13:45

Skye and Flora are great names.

If Ds had been a girl he’d have been Florence.

I use cheeky wipes too but for my make up wipes. I have net bags! Just no idea where they are. Must dig them out. Ds’ socks and bibs keep getting away from my washing basket!!

QuiteCleanBandit · 18/05/2018 13:47
