I've looked in vain for shower caps. I even tried ye olde pharmacy in the village. The clientele are all about 80, but nothing, not even a rain hat. I usually tie a carrier bag on my head, but one of our dishy race guys was at the house, and I looked enough of a twat tbh.

Walked the dogs 3 miles to clear my lungs. It is beautiful outside today. My dogs are very unfit just now me too

Frugal win, 2 packs on new pegs found. I was going to pop out to get some.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/04/2018 18:11

Hi all just home and not caught up at all, hope you are all okay 😊

We have had a lovely few days away, been lucky with the weather as only Tues was a bit wet the rest of the week was dry and sunny.

Got a mountain of washing to do now!!

Been a fairly frugal holiday, reckon I spent about £30 on 'stuff' we ate the food we took and the only other spend was £62 for the cattery.

Wolfcub · 05/04/2018 18:21

Ds haircut done 16.50 with tip. 5.60 spent on home bargains for cleaning bits. Provisional job offer has finally come through and there will now be loads of faff as there’s a back log on the processing centre that does checks and appointments boss has promised to pay me from this week though so that’s good assuming they stick to that

Loveabaconsandwich · 05/04/2018 18:27

“Saved” £15k today by not allowing us to be talked into spending this amount on a new resin driveway. DP agreed for them to come round to quote after I came home from work. Salesman was here TWO hours Hmm and was like we do 15 years low credit so it is very affordable. Errr, NO!!!! Hopefully DP won’t agree to a quote like this again from persistent salesman. I would prefer resin to tarmac but not at that price. Maybe when we are rich and have money to spend on such things —like never—

New job has been better the last couple of days as I am being given stuff to do.

DP bought very nice ribs from Lidl for dinner tonight. Yum!

Need to catch up on the thread as life has been busy.

SunnyLikeThursday · 05/04/2018 18:35

I'm going on holiday tomorrow for 5 days, so if I disappear, that's what it is. I should still be here though, as we will have wireless. Smile

Lonely I love your comment about the dishy race guy. I get those moments too.

Colour catchers are on shopmium for £1 for 24.

love Hit him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. Broadsheet.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 05/04/2018 19:05

Sunny, I used to watch it with my mother when I was little! There are some episodes on YouTube if you feel like a sentimental journey.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 05/04/2018 19:09

Lonely, I bought a shower cap in Waitrose a month or two back.

ememem84 · 05/04/2018 19:09

Haven’t caught up.

£3.43 postage for eBay sale.

SunnyLikeThursday · 05/04/2018 19:13

Duchess Gosh! Yes I have just been watching one on youtube after you mentioned it. Old tv was beautifully calm wasn't it? No cameras swinging from the lampshades in those days.

Pebble Mill at One -there's a blast from the past! I used to drive past Pebble Mill all the time. The studio has been pulled down now and replaced with a snazzy new dental hospital.

Enjoying the Easter hols especially now the sun has put in an appearance. Been out all day. Bought lunch out too.

Well done Cag's DD. What a proud monent!

CremeEggThief · 05/04/2018 19:28

I've never heard of The Cedar Tree before, but it sounds like the sort of thing I might enjoy, as I like Upstairs, Downstairs, and most period drama.

Grin @ Fluffy and wedding by proxy!

Glad you had a good time away, Girlie, as I know you were apprehensive about the weather. Hope you both have a nice time away too, Sunny and Seacow.

Yesterday's spends: £6.20 bus fares and £11 on a fab afternoon tea at the new Hotel Indigo in Durham. £4.something in Aldi (milk, bread, kitchen roll and chocolate). Today's spends: £2.11 posting a large letter and £6.20 Asda (demerara sugar, Cheddar, sparkling water, crisps and Mediterranean vegetables).

ScarletPower · 05/04/2018 20:00

Afternoon all - money post

Highest overdraft figure: £350.40 (i.e the day before last payday)
Yesterday’s balance - £-453.31
Today’s balance: -£473.31
Difference: £123.31

Money in bank: -£123.31 + £56 waiting to clear = -£-67.31
Money in food/petrol account: £167.80
Money in purse: £16.71
Money elsewhere:
£42 – DS1 still owes me
£9.33 – asda price guarantee vouchers (got another 42p from my shopping yesterday)
£3.30 – requested from Quidco

Actual money available: £162.50 + £9.33 vouchers

Spends since last post
1.25 – 2 x bottles of fizzy pop
5.00 – haircut for DS2
3.20 – 1 x drink in pub last night
6.00 – food in pub last night
Grand total: 15.45

Moneysaving stuff…

  1. Guilt tripped DS1 into dropping me off and picking me up from the Theatre yesterday which saved me parking costs
  2. Got another Asda voucher yesterday for 42p 😊
  3. Chose one of the cheapest things on the menu at the pub where I met my friend and made one drink stretch out. I had budgeted £15 but only spent £9.20
  4. Found 20p under the bed (woo) – every little helps.
Unescorted · 05/04/2018 20:13

lonely if you promise not to wear it in public I can send you a site hat.

Cag leaky eyes made me smile. I am banned from the cinema or reading the last couple of chapters of my book in public. I need to invest in a hanky. Or maybe borrow one from one of Lonely's or Sunny's race guys.....

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 05/04/2018 20:58

It was lovely Sunny wasn’t it. Creme if you liked Upstairs Downstairs you would probably like The Duchess of Duke Street which is my favourite😺. I think one of the writers was the same in all three. The Duchess is on YouTube also I think if you wanted a taster.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/04/2018 21:20

Morrison sell shower caps. Let me know lonely and I'll pick you one up. Super drug used to sell the plastic rain proof hair things. They were a best seller years ago, not sure if they still do. Look in the hair accessories section

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/04/2018 21:21

£25 gym pass

22,255 steps mammy, shite calories, 347 over raspberry magnum but I think my curry sauce didn't track right

CremeEggThief · 05/04/2018 21:34

Cheers for the recommendations, DuchessSmile.

ememem84 · 05/04/2018 22:49

I have a feeling I’m in for a long night. Ds went to bed at 830. We went to bed at 945. An hour later im in the spare room with ds.

He woke up screaming. He had a burp (a huge one! Which frightened him I think poor bunny) we’ve done a nappy change and had a cuddle. I’ve given him some calpol as we think there’s another tooth on the way. His left eye looks a bit watery/gunky so I’ll see how that is tomorrow and will get it checked if necessary (although dm’s neighbour is a nurse and she looked at it today (she was in the garden and we were chatting) and said she wouldn’t be worried by it being watery. It’s not red and didn’t appear to be bothering him. Just cotton wool and warm water.
He’s also pulled his ear a few time’s today. But not repeatedly and not while crying. And he doesn’t have a temperature (so I’m discounting ear infection - although am not a doctor and will absolutely take him tomorrow if he’s no better).
He may have the cold I had last week.

Dh was going to stay in here with him but I pointed out that a) I have no work tomorrow and b) I’ll orobably be worried and not sleep anyway.

Sigh. Wish me luck!

LonelyOversharer · 05/04/2018 23:19

Good luck em...long nights watching poorly babies.

I delayed clearing up the plaster by scrubbing the cooker and kitchen floor. The dishy guy was in my house ffs. My house is very very much not visitor ready BlushBlush.

Then bagged up half the plaster, and moved half what I bagged outside to be taken to the tip tomorrow. It is very quiet here without my 2 middle dc. Like eerie. But as you can see from the photo, they couldn't really sleep in their room right now!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/04/2018 23:30

Oh bless him em I think the worst bit of being a parent is when kids are poorly, worse for babies as they can't tell you what's wrong 😓

We went to macdonalds for tea, I had a peri peri wrap which nearly burnt my mouth off!! £10.

I take it needs not back? Not like her to vanish for this long

Where are you off to sunny? It is nice to have a change of scene and some sea air for a few days.

If any of you fancy a caravan in Devon type holiday I would recommend where we went, it's a lovely beach and has everything you would want. It's a parkdean holiday at Challaborough bay.

AdoraBell · 06/04/2018 00:02

Good luck em 😁 hope DS sleeps and you get some rest.

Glad you had a good holiday Girlie

Hmm at dishy guy turning up while House not visitor ready, some people eh?

Splurged this morning, brunch after Pilates, £9. Tomorrow should be NSD.

Hope need is okay.

WreckTangled · 06/04/2018 01:58

Em ds woke at 12 took ages to go back to sleep now I can't sleep! Tomorrow will be day seven, he was burning up when he woke up. I popped to the drs earlier but she said it seems viral which is what I thought. But I also thought he would be getting better by now Sad he's not eaten properly for a week, didn't even want his Easter eggs.

Wolfcub · 06/04/2018 05:32

Sounds like the night of the sleepless. I’ve been awake for the past hour and a half too I think because today’s my first time in my old/home office for ages and I’m feeling unexpectedly anxious about it for no good reason
