This afternoon will be making a list of things to go into storage. So I can work out how many boxes I’ll need. Am at dr tomorrow morning (for my hands (feel so so sore all the time) and a repeat prescription) so will head to storage place after and look at the size of locker and will grab a few packing boxes while I’m there. Must get quote for removals co too.

love your comparrison is such a good thing to do. For me, the new job sounds by far the better option, as you won't need to travel, how much later can you leave in the mornings/how much earlier home? Extra time with dc there. And as fluff says, in real terms, the wages are about equal when you take out childcare and travelling. It's a big decision. How does a dc3 change the calculations? (assuming you're going to be using the ovulation monitor!)

I have started putting up shelves, and am going to move some stuff up to the shed next. There is so much craft stuff dotted round the house read fucking everywhere, it will be great and weird to have it all together.

Seacow I think that memory quilt sounds amazing, just lie tell them he was a bit rougher with the clothes this time around so they're not good enough to pass on it happens as kids get older as they wear clothes for longer

I just got my p60 and it scares me how I spent so much money & have so little to show for it & cc debt. When I get my one for 2018 I want to have some savings and no credit card debt.

Childcare thing is an issue but would it be worth it to pay for childcare for some of that holiday time, maybe your dh could take some of his holidays then too to cover?

I've watched Emmerdale & Grace & Frankie so I'm now going to put my phone on charge, get dressed, have lunch, boil potatoes, clear out dds wardrobe, make stuffing with aforementioned spuds, make gravy, plate up dinners, put clothes from washing machine into dryer, do dds homework, go to ds's open evening at school, eat dinner, make lunches and go to bed early

DC3 is an interesting question lonely. I think it would involve waiting until September 2019 when DD2 starts school. But there is probably more chance of a DC3 in a less stressful job! I’m not against a bigger gap as DD2 is not fun on the school run.

Not sure about pension em . I think I just keep it until one part becomes available at 60, the other part at 75 or whatever retirement age is by then.

DH is very good with his holiday. I don’t think he has had a childfree day of a/l since startsing his new job

That's good that he shares the load.
We had to negotiate days off to suit au pairs time off on Sunday and dh grumbled a lot. I just calmly replied that this is the price we pay for convenience of having in home childcare & pointed out that it was a quarter of his holidays we were discussing not 100% and instead of stropping like usual he built a bridge & got over it

Dd is still poorly, went back to the Dr and he said a viral throat infection and to continue with the inhalers for a few weeks. He said he doesn't want to say 100% its asthma at the moment.... . She has missed a ridiculous amount of school so am sure I will be getting into trouble soon, not much I can do about it though as she really isn't well enough to go atm.

I am still feeling stressed but am better than I was ystd, want to try and work tomos but will see how dd is, my mum can have her if needed.

I always found Boden stuff sold on well and if you buy when the sales/ offers are on you could get some bargains. Dd is too old for it now.

love, I recall the commute stress too. If it's cost neutral broadly but a lot less stress, that would be a big sway. But em is right to consider the pension aspect too, I am also of the opinion the vast majority of us are massively underfunded and that particular reality won't hit us until later in life.

Have spent around £100 (oops) on amazon. Packing boxes which were cheaper (and same brand) than storage place, laundry bags (huge checkered ones for bedding towels etc) new bedding (not strictly necessary...) and chalk sticky labels for my wanky Kilmer jars.

Em vacumn packabags /storage bags are good for linens etc.
We used them when we moved. Saved loads of space esp for duvets etc . You can get them on Amazon

It's gone really cold here as well need no snow though yet...

love that's a tricky one, can see why you are tempted but the lack of career progression would worry me a bit, kids aren't little forever.

love great that you are interested in the job and have time to consider. Being pretty cost neutral is helpful as it takes money out of the equation. Like others I’d be worried about pension and career progression but if I could go back and make that sort of choice with young dc knowing what I know now I would probably pick the local job. Perhaps see if you can get some IFA advice on pensions before Friday to help with the decision.

Love that's really tricky. WRT childcare the dc won't always need it. Less of a commute is a big plus you have to think about your happiness rather than just the money I suppose.

The problem is i’m a CS EO grade and it’s difficult to get back into that where I am. Hmmm. I guess my biggest thing I would be potentially selling myself short, for family convenience. Which is important but not a great career move! I am also particularly rubbish at job applications/interviews so I may never get back to that.

Ah yes, totally understand. Difficult choice. Sorry but much help there.

love have you read the civil service workforce plan? It strongly suggests cos recruitment is changing and there will be a greater breadth of external advertising in the future. In my area the majority of recruits to frontline roles are external and in the middle-age band rather than young people. There is probably scope to come back in the future. Could you cheekily apply for a three year career break to give yourself the option?

A career break won’t get agreed as I work in the area where I see/hear that stuff.

Our local tax office is due to close. Where I worked moved to the next county (hence my commute), leaves just the probation service and courts I think. The closest proposed big hub is in the next county too. MOD closest places are worse to get to than where I currently am although on paper is a quarter of the distance.

It is the pension, annual leave entitlement, special leave, sick pay which is what i’m struggling to give up!
