I had to stop the betting fluffy as I was betting all my winnings on flipping slots. I came out of it £285 up. It should have been nearer £500, but thats my own stupid fault.

mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2018 17:09

Yay lifelong we can be buddies
need I was picturing you in a baby onesie there for a second but I'm thinking it's more the overalls type you meant Grin
I think I will buy thermals in the sales this year for next winter, can you get thermal socks? I've been doubling up on socks.

Taytocrisps · 22/01/2018 17:11

NSD yesterday

LSD today. €2 on apples and approx. €3.80 on cleaning cloths.

Sorry to hear that so many frugaleers (or family members) have been sick. Get well soon everyone Flowers.

em the photo of DS with his teething ring is so cute!

Welcome UglyFive. I feel bad about calling you ugly! Maybe we'll stick with Five going forward.

lifelong hope DS was ok after his fall. You must have got quite a shock Shock.

Girlie sorry to hear about the heating. Am I right in thinking you've had problems with it before?

Shoop that's great about paying off one of the store cards. I don't have any store cards but that's mainly because (as mammy pointed out) they're not really a thing here. I've done enough damage with credit cards though!

north great that DS has shown signs of improvement. Good news about the test results too (especially leukemia!) but I guess you're none the wiser re: what's been making him so ill.

Fluffy I remember that TV programme (the one with the psychologist) but I can't remember what it was called. One of the episodes featured a guy who was living with his partner and they had one child. He was a film student and his partner was supporting all three of them. He was hopeless with money and thought nothing of buying designer clothes and treating himself to expensive nights out.
His partner was horribly stressed, especially when he was given charge of the family spending money for the week. He had a twin brother but didn't get on with him and the psychologist reckoned he'd always felt inferior to the twin (he said his mother had always favoured the other twin) so he spent money on expensive things to compensate. I still think about that couple occasionally and wonder if they're still together. Incidentally, they did an experiment and put out a rack full of clothes and got him to pick out some items that he liked. The clothes had no labels or price tags on them so he didn't know which shops they came from. As you can probably guess, the clothes he picked out weren't necessarily the most expensive or designer gear.

Seacow good luck with the sleep consultant. The blueberry pancakes sound divine!

Bandit good job with the washing machine.

Wreck lovely table

Mummycat hope the viewings go well. Wish I could come along. I love having a nose checking out houses and apartments.

Snuggly sorry you're going through a rough patch. No need to share. Hope things improve for you soon.

Cag I know you hate filling out forms. I was wondering if it would help if you photocopied one of the forms (after you've answered all the questions) and then you could just copy the information next time.

I'm very jealous of all of you with your snow. We've had endless rain here. There's been so much rain that the local park has acquired a new lake in the middle of it! There's been some localized flooding around the country too.

Cagliostro · 22/01/2018 17:46

Form is sent!
65p postage, £3.74 coop on reduced stuff and a chocolate bar 😳 also remembered £9.99 to an usborne friend, they have a new politics book which looks perfect for DD.

Love the idea of a company onesie!

And I get what you mean about the frustration need it's not nice to see money disappear on something like that. Get that "why is there always something" feeling.

I need to ring the council this week to organise hall bookings - one for the Caglets in July for a joint birthday party (crystal maze type activities with a Harry Potter theme 🤔) and one for a world book day party in March which I did last year to great success if I say so myself 😂😳

Also hoping DH will do a sports day type thing for sport relief, won't cost anything for us just charging ticket fees to donate to the charity. Would be good publicity for his class though

need i have a fleece. i take it on every sunshine holiday. reason being, the one time i didn't it rained. lucky sunshine fleece. it lives in the suitcase though. do you also have a scrunchie??

im viewing 3 places tomorrow. hopefully i'll like one...

cag absolutely do as tayto suggests. photocopying forms is great. i do this at work - if I've got a form to fill in and i know I'm going to ned it again i just copy and then keep in a file - at least if they wont accept the info on a copied form i know what info to rein put iyswim

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/01/2018 17:55

Bashing away here still with the constant busyness. Beavers has started again which is great fun.

Sorry to hear things are hard there Snuggly. I hope it gets better soon.

I like the new name catface. Glad to hear your dsis is getting on well.

needastrongone · 22/01/2018 18:34

I'm very sick of rain too tayto and associated mud. Muddy dogs, pony (the bastard always chooses to roll in the muddiest part of the field) muddy chickens. Sigh.

I'm very much in favour of the work onesie, I'm in fact happy to be campaign manager....

I feel slightly less unstylish now I know em also owns a fleece. I don't buy the 'lucky fleece' story crap though, I suspect it's a secret hope they return to the height of styleGrinGrin

That's exactly it cag, there's always something. That's how I feelSad. The party sounds brill!

I did mean a baby onesie mammy, I have a very fetching leopard print one that I go to the farm in every morningGrin

Job tomorrow is phoning Sky and Plusnet, both of whom I use and whose contacts are about to expire. Martin Lewis was all about haggling today on radio 5.

Cagliostro · 22/01/2018 18:46

Plusnet is on my slightly longer term list of tasks. In the sense that it’s not as urgent as today’s form and that sort of thing.

Picked up new forms for taekwondo so DD can join properly. Handily she has decided on the other uniform colour so they won’t get mixed up. Will be £38 joining fee/uniform then changing standing order from £26 to £46. Sigh. And DS is trying tap tomorrow. Much as it costs money I will be (quietly) absolutely ecstatic if he takes it up, he’s always dancing. Also now that I’ve actually added up my outgoings I can definitely afford it as long as I keep being more organised with the food and stuff. Not to mention no longer having to pay for the bus :o it is £5 a day by the way, if I pay cash. Less if I get longer term passes on my key card. But still pricey.

It’s a good call on the photocopying forms, and you’ve reminded me I need to rescue my file from when I did my PIP form, as I typed the answers on there. And I’ll lose it when the old laptop dies.

Pass should last 5 years by the way, unless they tie it in with when PIP runs out which is in 2021. Maybe I will be much better then anyway :)

I'm doing broadband Wednesday. Joy 😭

Loveabaconsandwich · 22/01/2018 19:02

Hope you are ok snuggly

Well done on the form cag

Quiet day here, as my cold has now hit my ears and felt quite off. No spending though apart from food delivery.

I have a fleece as was given as a gift. Worn it a few times, but not the biggest fan.

Anything less than 40% off is not a good deal with sky who ever needs to ring sky. If you can hold your nerve and go a few weeks in the cancellation period then you will do even better!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 22/01/2018 19:38

Yep tayto it's exactly the same fault as before almost exactly a year on! Do other people have boiler/heating insurance? I think the British gas deal is actually quite expensive for what it is £15 a month for a service and £60 excess on any call outs! !

Got my mortgage statement today, I don't understand how you can pay in so much and they take so little off?!! I had to remind myself it's still better than renting as at least it's something 😒

Hope you're okay snuggly

Nsd.

SnugglySnerd · 22/01/2018 19:39

Thanks everyone. I'm OK I think and the fleece talk has made me smile. I wear mine in bed when we go camping!
Need to finish my Tesco order. I'm doing a huge massive shop as the freezer currently has a lot of space so I thought I'd do some batch cooking to make life a bit easier over the next few weeks.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/01/2018 19:52

Girlie, we don't but it's got a 5 year warranty. Yours should be in warranty, you've not been there that long.

Cagliostro · 22/01/2018 20:13

Oh balls I need to order the shopping too. Crap. Need to decide what veg to try in the soup maker. I got reduced stock cubes in coop :o

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 22/01/2018 20:18

Mmmm soup. You could start with a simple leek and potato, cheap and filling. Parsnip is another easy one you can either make it sweet with honey or curried parsnip with some spices.

Mummycatface · 22/01/2018 20:21

Fleeces are cool yo.

Roast chicken and CPU’s could with roasted sweet potatoes peppers and tomatoes for dinner. Le. Yum. And Nando’s hot sauce. Yippee.

I’ve sold ds’ moses Basket! Woohoo. £45 for basket stand mattresses mattress protectors sheets. Boo yah. Person is coming to collect this week. Yippee.

I’m viewing 3 houses tomorrow. One is £529k one £599k and one £625. Three three bedroomed houses. Yikes. And as nice as they are they’re nothing special. In the sense that that sort of money could buy me something amazing in the mainland uk. but It is what it is. Property is at a premium here.

Mummycatface · 22/01/2018 20:21

Cous cous. Not cpu could

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/01/2018 20:25

I pictured a fleecy furry onsie. As in PJ's.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 22/01/2018 20:32

I got a fleece onesie for Christmas and bloody love it!! I put it on and am instantly warm 😊

I've got a feeling for the warranty to be valid I'm meant to have had it serviced every year fluffy 😕 will double check though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/01/2018 20:33

Fleeces are cool FFS no! No and thrice no!
The only time I wear fleece is when camping.

Yeah mammy. I've posted my stats for advice on the forum.

Laska5772 · 22/01/2018 20:52

A Fleece? No and thrice NO..

Laska5772 · 22/01/2018 20:53

Life I didnt read your post just above !! We agree then..
( i managed to leave out out a No though! ) DUH!

LonelyOversharer · 22/01/2018 21:01

I had the most amazing LL Bean half zip fleece, I'd had it 23 years (before fleeces were the norm), and then my big dog got hold of it and chewed it to pieces. Guess he doesn't do fleeces! It was so destroyed I didn't even grieve putting it in the bin. I didn't keep the purple flecked poo either.

I have been pointlessly ironing all my felt and craft cottons. They are now in nice clean new boxes, ready to go up to my craft room. Thats from two old ikea cardboard storage boxes, two bags for life and a random pile that has just been falling over for years. It is a tiny start.

ChristmasSeacow · 22/01/2018 21:11

Sorry you are feeling a bit down Snuggly

Catface I’m onto you 😉. Still trying to work out who Bandit is though . While you would do well for that budget in some parts of the UK I think anywhere in the South East with good London transport links would be similar Confused. Hope you have some luck with your viewers.

Like the table Wreck

I have a fleece which I wear when I am on the sort of holiday that involves standing around in the freezing cold (ie birdwatching /wildlife photography). Things I don’t really get to do since having DC. When I did do that I was always in good fleecy company Grin

It was shaping up to be an NSD as I’ve been at home all day. However, I’ve just ordered a night light for DD’s room as it occurred to me that it’s eithef the extremely bright interrogation lights or nothing. So £13 from Amazon.
