Aviva, not above

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/01/2018 21:28

No Laska they are quite hot on getting in on time unfortunately, think it was just so busy around the end of Dec I completely forgot which is unlike me when it comes to millage!! Does mean I will get two lots at the end of Dec though which will be nice Smile

When I was having a row with dd I realised that she will be (very nearly) 18 in six short years Shock crazy!!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/01/2018 21:29

End of Feb that should say, i need to go to bed Wink

LonelyOversharer · 16/01/2018 21:36

girlie ha ha, get her to start with a small roller on the most "hidden" wall (behind wardrobe?) She'll either a) love it and paint the whole room saving you the job, or b) hate it and agree quickly to just walls! Dd1 has a navy blue ceiling, dark purple walls and bright turquoise floorboards! She has covered the walls with her (rather good) artwork.

I did a whole weekly shop in Lidl today. £77. This includes 2 joints of meat and 2 lots of mince. I went with my sister, who spent £100 for half the people. She hasn't got the frugal thing going yet. But it's nice spending time with her.

Am bunged right up, feel very sinusy. Ugk. Going to bed very soon.

mammymammyIRL · 16/01/2018 21:48

Marinating in Epsom salts at the moment, want to be able to walk tomo, exercise class was tough Grin

Love I love your sofa, they are worth investing in I think.

Girlie I did my bedroom one summer painted walls with one colour & sponged another colour over it, the fourth wall remained one colour as it took me many weeks to do rest of my room Grin

Tayto & laska other thread annoys me too Grin I did suggest they come over here

Laska I was at a funeral sat & was thinking I need a jacket suitable for funerals. I don't really have jackets/coats. I hate having an extra thing to carry I'd prefer to be cold Smile

Cagliostro · 16/01/2018 21:58

I avoided the other thread by not making any commitment to no spend January :o doing well reducing it though so I’m pleased.

ShoopShoop · 16/01/2018 22:08

life I got 200 pods for £70. DH drinks 2 a day and I have 1 in a thermos on the way to work. I'm lucky enough to have a nice coffee machine at work which I can use for free.

We use our percolator at the weekend with regular ground coffee.

So in theory they should last 13 weeks or so if my dodgy maths is correct.

We never buy coffee out - literally can't remember when I last had a coffee out wine on the other hand....

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/01/2018 22:15

Girlie Your usually advised not to paint new builds for at least a year. Would that buy you some time?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/01/2018 22:23

The house is a couple of years old now fluffy so not really, I don't mind painting it but draw the line at doing the sodding ceiling! !

lonely good plan 😉

Aah that’s a lovely ring! And you’ve reminded me I’ve got the book of HMC on kindle, I might suggest that as the next bedtime story, My DSD is going to Japan after her second year at uni, we gave her some yen for Christmas :o I am currently yearning to watch laputa as for some unknown reason I had the theme in my head all the way home this evening. The Caglets are Ghibli mad but they’re at that in between age where a lot of the other stuff is a bit too grown up. Cute cat too!

I’m probably staying in for an NSD tomorrow, DH is off and taking the Caglets swimming (I want to wait until little one has had the second and third lots of jabs). Apparently DH’s lacrosse kit is arriving too, so excited! Hopefully the weather will improve enough to restart sports club soon (for newbies, he runs homeschool PE classes).

I’ll probably just faff about sorting photos on the old laptop tomorrow, I’m absolutely shattered this evening as Cagletini reneged on our deal to give mummy at least 5 hours straight. Rude.

Finally signed up to that shopandscan thing today, should receive my little gadget soon.

Dh repaid me €100 he owed me last night so that cancels out my spending HmmWink
Will send it straight to cc2.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 17/01/2018 05:32

Checking in.
Good things
Weekend away cost £40 less than planned. We really enjoyed it. Premier inns are lovely and we took some treats with us.
Had return to work interview yesterday and it turns out I will be paid for the two days sick leave after all. So will be able to save at least £300 towards holiday during Jan and Feb.
Have ordered The Art of Frugal Hedonism, second hand copy. Looking forward to reading it.

Bad things
Only one. The horrid vending machine at work. Diet coke is a weakness. Less so things to eat as I take a packed lunch and make a little effort with these. It tends to be just one as we have a water machine that dispenses still or fizzy and I have those tiny bottles of concentrated squash in my bag. Perhaps a multipack of Diet Coke and take one in each day, otherwise it's literally £1 a pop.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/01/2018 07:21

It will come no could you make a pic nic tea for between clubs. My DC love eating in the car.
Definitely buy a multi pack of coke if they are the prices.

Need some bits today but as it has snowed and is snowing they will have to wait. My lunch buddy won't go out to walk in this.

LonelyOversharer · 17/01/2018 07:58

duchess diet coke is the thing I won't compromise on! I have one can every two days or so now, I used to be on 4 cans a day. Anyway, I buy 30 cans in asda usually, between £6 and £8. Tescos ususlly have it on offer too, but I will choose my supermarket based on the diet coke offer Blush but at least it's only once a month now (dd1 and dp also have some).

I feel a lot better for some sleep, just feels like I've been swimming in the sea and got water up my nose. Ugh. Sensory issue hates this!

Going to tackle dp's workshop area today. It all has to come home. He is incredibly messy and literally never throws anything away. Odd how I can sort out his stuff, but not mine.

We've not had much more snow, like an inch, and we're in the hills, the motorway just north of Carlisle was blocked up all night. Stay safe out everyone today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/01/2018 07:58

A quick look on mysupermarket suggests £10 for 30 cans in morrisons Duchess You can set price alerts in case they put it on offer.

That's £240 a year saved if you drink one daily.

WreckTangled · 17/01/2018 08:00

I slept for nearly ten hours. The dc are both being awful. Ds has meltdowns every school day because he hates it and is tired and dd must be hormonal because she cries at everything and says everyone hates her etc etc. I need chocolate. Oh and bad tooth fairy forgot to visit last night Blush

Wolfcub · 17/01/2018 08:23

My contigo arrived last night so I'm giving it a whirl even though I'm working from home. Hopefully the flasky taste will wear off and I can take it on my travels tomorrow. Should be a nsd today. Hope those with weather are ok, our roads are better this morning. Lots of abandoned cars around though.

mammymammyIRL · 17/01/2018 09:18

wreck that tooth fairy shouldn't be too hard on herself, she's a busy lady and sometimes doesn't get to visit every house, every night and she's got a dh who could've done it too Hmm

Is your dd a little young to be hormonal? thinks ours are roughly same age, dd really is a emotional basketcase when she's tired.

lonely I totally get what you say about being able to sort your dp's stuff but not your own. We spent 30 mins last night sorting stuff, not together but at the same time and it made a huge impact.

6 glass jars going on facebook buy sell swap group as they just don't work in our house. €4 from IKEA each would I be reasonable to ask for €10 for the set? I just want them gone to be honest

SnugglySnerd · 17/01/2018 09:38

It's all gone to shit here budget-wise. Had to fill up the car last night which was budgeted for but still £££.

Have realised there are a number of family birthdays in the next 2-4 weeks so need to get cards and presents. I was thinking of them as Feb spends but actually we'll need to have sent them by end of January as they are early Feb birthdays.

Now I have to take the cat to the vet again. Grrr.

I'm feeling unusually stressed and overwhelmed this week to the point where I have so much to sort out that I can't face thinking about it so I'm not doing any of it.I'm going to regret this next week!

WreckTangled · 17/01/2018 10:53

Mammy I would have thought she was too young but with the sobbing for no reason and breast buds I'm assuming it could be?

SunnyLikeThursday · 17/01/2018 11:33

Wreck I think it very well could be. My best friend at school was fully developed and really ready to be married by the time we were 9, so I guess she started early too. I felt a bit bad for her, because the boys were really still so very young at that age.

I'm getting all stupidly excited about house selling here. Also where does all the money go?

mammymammyIRL · 17/01/2018 11:49

wreck ah the poor thing starting down that road so early
