No snow here but there's a Status Orange weather warning and temperatures are supposed to drop to -8 tonight. DD is desperately hoping for snow so she can get a snow day from school and make a snowman. I've seen pictures of snow in other parts of Ireland though.

Not going anywhere so it will be a NSD.

Sunny I must have missed the post about your DH's new job. That's great news Smile.

Cag the new house sounds very tempting but I guess you need to do some research and check out the practicalities. The bus service will probably improve in time but that could be a few years down the line. Are there any properties coming up that are more central? Although I suppose there would be more demand for those so more people bidding for them.

mammymammyIRL · 10/12/2017 14:10

Is cagletini really only six weeks?ShockShock
Sorry I know that wasn't the point of the post but wow!

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/12/2017 14:37

Thanks Tayto. It was quite a long gap between the end of one job and the start of another, but it wasn't really like holiday oddly. It's good to be into the next one now, but hard work I think. The new job is quite intense.

ememem84 · 10/12/2017 14:48

mammy cag gosh 6 weeks!!?! Wow.

Ds is 11 weeks today. Eeek.

WreckTangled · 10/12/2017 14:49

It's freezing here!! Horribly wet and windy though.

Lovely tree and cat Wreck

LonelyOversharer · 10/12/2017 16:24

I see you have some supervision there wreck! Fab tree. We will hopefully be putting Steve up tomorrow. Dp talked me into a pretend tree six years (might be 7, we can't decide), he was £80 half price, and is fab. I was spending upwards of £40 a year on a real one, so frugally he owes me nothing.

I have filled all the breezy gaps round the back door (in the living room), and lots more. Will paint it first thing tomorrow, as the tree is going there. For once we are not having bare plaster and six different colours of paint behind the tree in the christmas pics!

It was not a nsd. £77 in tesco. Full 'treat' lunch of sarnies, crisp and crea, cakes, chicken for tea (I have 2 in the freezer, I must get my act together), an elf jingly hoody for dd2, and lots of things actually on my list.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/12/2017 16:38

But of a spendy morning doing a bit more festive shopping.
Test drove a Mazda 3 xc. Not keen though

New tree is up but no more Decs yet. Cba to get them out of the attic. No snow here.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/12/2017 16:38

Yesterday was £22.50 in nectar points, £6 on my card. What I spent on nectar points I transfer into the Xmas shop account. I should get £12 of that spend back off shopmium.

Tried making vegan shortbread today (vile) & DIY rice milk (worse). Think I'll stick to vegan sponge.

NSD today. I'm switching heating off every half hour for 15 minutes to save money.

Free l'or ground coffee on special packs.

100yearsdotcom · 10/12/2017 17:39

Hello everyone, I've not been able to post on this entire thread so thought I should get a move on and post before it ended!

Dd and I were very ill with a virus that resulted in bronchiolitis and took us four weeks to get over and I am currently undergoing investigations over some pre-existing medical conditions so have been reading - usually during dream feed for dd! - but not managing to post.

Well done sunny on your grants and to your dh!
Well done cag dh on new job and hope you can work out the new house conundrum.
Em you are a saint not to bother over your awful Mil.
Meadow I'm so sorry you're suffering so badly. I had hg and lost loads of weight with it as I couldn't keep stuff down. Thankfully despite that dd is amazingly healthy and it seems hg is often a sign of very strong hormones etc so good for the baby at least!
I can't remember anything else sorry, oh except happy birthday laska! And welcome all the newbies!

I've been pretty frugal due to all the illness and had already got all presents by end of November. Have noticed yet again the rising cost of food bill though...

100yearsdotcom · 10/12/2017 17:41

Oh and seacow, I really feel for you! Dd still has reflux at nearly 9 months and it's a nightmare but she did grow out of needing to be on us to sleep. I had to really push to get help/meds for her though. I hope you get some rest soon x

Cagliostro · 10/12/2017 18:32

I'm sure I posted earlier. Yes she was 6 weeks on Wednesday! I think she is basically a month younger than your DS em she was October 25th.

Frugal win we walked to DD's ballroom presentation thingy and back rather than bus. Frugal fail went to coop. I am soooo shit at food shopping Xmas Sad

Sorry you have been so poorly 100 Flowers

Aah yay my post worked this time. Don't know what happened before

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/12/2017 18:39

I reckon co ops pricier than Waitrose. It'll be better when you move & have more freezer space.

100 That sounds awful. You might find you don't bounce back from that quickly.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/12/2017 18:50

The coop is very over priced imo.
Sorry you have been so poorly 100

£78 Amazon. Been spectacularly shit this Christmas. The DC don't really want much so I seem to have got a pile of stuff that I'm dubious it will be played with

ememem84 · 10/12/2017 18:56

100 I used to be bothered by mil. Can’t be arsed now. Wastes too much energy.

Coop is so pricey. here it’s considered to be the cheapest. We have a choice of coop Waitrose or M&S. There is a local store which sells Tesco stuff but it’s not Tesco.

SnugglySnerd · 10/12/2017 19:02

Sorry I'm struggling to keep up with you all. Really busy weekend doing Xmas decorations and playing in the snow. It's been brilliant today. We have tonnes of snow. First time DD has seen it so we've been out nearly all day. Our street is full of snowmen gazing out of front gardens!

NSD

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 10/12/2017 19:20

Aargh
Dc3 friend has been here all day (and yesterday) and I just want my house to myself now.
Have asked politely twice now -having dinner now etc.
Angry

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/12/2017 19:26

We braved the elements and went to a local garden centre, spent £8 on a few bits and £6 on two drinks!! They were nice though Wink

Had a nap and then threw a roast dinner together, mostly using stuff from the freezer.

Am jealous of all you with snow!!

I have been adding a few bits to my Amazon basket....

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/12/2017 19:28

Pink just tell him/her to sod off home now Wink I wouldn't be so polite!!

100yearsdotcom · 10/12/2017 19:30

fluffy yes it's been hard and I think with all my other ill health it's knocked me for six. Just glad dd bounced back after the hospital!

life thanks!

em I think that's a really healthy approach, wish I could be more like that.

Sounds like a lovely day snuggly

And thanks cag and for the thread as I didn't say thanks before! :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/12/2017 19:34

Cag With your pip do you qualify to use ring & ride services? Or is it only pensioners where you are?. Even if they only do GP & hospital appointments it saves a bit of money.

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 10/12/2017 19:59

I did Girlie
Seriously I cannot cope with anyone in my house in the evenings.
Im tired cold and want peace and quiet not teenagers constantly eating !

Pinkpeppermintteaforme · 10/12/2017 20:54

A bit Sad about Strictly results -not posting a spoiler but meh
