Was it the dash need? My brother did that today.
Don't worry about the time. You got it and did it.

needastrongone · 05/11/2017 15:44

Thanks Life. No, not the Dash. I've done that a few times and it's a fast course. Hope your brother did okay, conditions were good.

Cagliostro · 05/11/2017 16:00

Ah thanks. :) Yes definitely will help overall. A lot of what I've lost is what I put on since being ill, being unable to walk far etc and finding too much comfort in food! TBH I think the hormones of pregnancy helped as I wasn't in so much pain and until the end I could walk more etc. That plus not being able to eat as much (nausea and then the GD diet) has certainly helped :o I am now less than I was after having DS (I put on soooo much weight in that pregnancy) but a good few stone to go.

Epic sofa nap just now. But also disappointed as I was really looking forward to taramasalata, I had some and it was yuck. Maybe I've gone off it. Sad times.

northender · 05/11/2017 16:12

Well done need and lonely, after a week off you've inspired me to book up my class sessions for the week.
sunny the thermal tights sound great.
need bil did his degree in archaeology and has done very well for himself, as an IT project manager!! And yes, dd tells me everything. but ds not so much, I'm just crossing my fingers and taking deep breaths!
Cag that's an amazing start to your weight loss, just think how much less strain is going through your joints & all the other positive effects.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/11/2017 16:26

Yes he did sub 1 hour so he was pleased with that.

SnugglySnerd · 05/11/2017 16:53

Are the tights thermal on the feet or just the legs? It's my feet that are always cold.

HollyTheHarrier · 05/11/2017 16:56

Well done need and lonely on the bike ride! I did 30 miles ish on my bike and feel pretty battered. Also freezing. £5 on hot chocolates, shouldn't have any other spends. Yesterday I had a cross country race which was good but a long drive. Had to fill up the car (£45) but £10 back from the people I gave lifts to. Then had another 90 minute round trip for a house warming party, got home after midnight. It's all go.

Sunny that's a lovely story about when you first went to Cambridge.

Cag well done on the weight loss. Stupid question perhaps but if preggo hormones helped your symptoms is there no way the doctors can somehow simulate that by giving you extra hormones?

ememem84 · 05/11/2017 17:02

Am at dparents for dinner. Ds is watching football with df. He’s dressed in blue. Df is a Manchester Utd supporter. They are playing Chelsea. Oops.

Dh is napping on the couch. I’m tempted to join him. Haha.

Cagliostro · 05/11/2017 17:11

Forgot to say thank you for the love2shop list fluffy!

Interesting thought holly I will wait and see what happens as I'm not sure how long it takes for the hormones to wear off. Lots of women experience temporary relief from these conditions (fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue) during pregnancy, but also it's not unheard of for it to actually sort of 'reset' the system and for things to remain much better afterwards. Really weird. Either way though if I'm fitter and lighter it can't be a bad thing.

One thing that hasn't reset though is the itching, doctor said it was like a kind of hives but during pregnancy and it should disappear after the birth, but it hasn't and it is driving me batshit crazy!!! 😡😡😡 Need to find out if there's any antihistamines I can take while BFing

Steak for dinner woohoo

SnugglySnerd · 05/11/2017 19:06

Cag I had that. Only thing that cleared it up was really strong steroid cream from dermatologist but not sure if you can use that while breastfeeding. It's called PEP rash if it's what I had. Pine tar soap soothed it a bit and I found drinking camomile tea calmed it/me too.

SunnyLikeThursday · 05/11/2017 19:17

Snuggly I think the tights are thermal all over. I'm wearing socks over them. It's weird but I had no idea I was so cold before I put on all this thermal stuff. I'm built like a twig and I know I am always cold, but I hadn't realised how different it would be to be warm. Oddly, I'm still a bit cold, so I think there's a way to go on this.

I'm going to go on a mission to buy warm clothes this week. I think Rohan may be the first stop.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/11/2017 19:18

Been out to my brother and sil's for a Sunday lunch, was really nice Smile we took drinks, cost £6 (wine and some fizz for kids.)

Its been properly cold today, had the heating on a fair bit.

SnugglySnerd · 05/11/2017 19:29

I accidentally shrank dh's lovely warm jumper in the wash so it's not my lovely warm jumper. Result!

SnugglySnerd · 05/11/2017 19:30

*Now not not!

Cagliostro · 05/11/2017 19:39

Sure snuggly accidentally, we believe you 😜

Thanks for info, yes PEP is what the dr said I think. Mostly lower leg but now I'm randomly itching all over at times! I had to wear compression socks for the entire induction/birth as well (hospital policy no matter how low risk you are) which made it a million times worse. I may have to make an appt if it doesn't go, I was supposed to anyway TBH (dr didn't want me waiting for 6wk check in case PND sets in earlier - I feel good at the moment though :)).

Registry office tomorrow (will pop into library next door too as a few colleagues haven't met baby yet), then health visitor and hearing test on Tuesday (one ear didn't 'pass' on the first try). Busy busy. Then on Wednesday it's our 9 year wedding anniversary :)

Strictly results time yay!

Laska5772 · 05/11/2017 20:06

Ooh am here after weekend , not read back yet. yesterday was v.v spendy but that was because DH said he'd take me out for lunch but on the way suggested we went to Waitrose It was.... Wait for it....... £200 Shock Yes £200!! (I thought of you need when you said your DH would most likely scupper the weeks budget with a takeaway when you were away ).

Anyway his excuse was because there was an 25% offer on wine and so we might as well stock up for Christmas!! .. I have made sure it all goes in the shed. (but I bet it wont all be there still at Christmas.). Other things bought in Waitrose were a reduced organic chicken (now in the freezer but I shall MN the out of next weekend ) veggies, cleaning stuff , flour etc - plus a few of nice snacky things, its true- But £200!! Shock.. well at least it came out his wallet . The pub lunch he took me for (posh fish n chips and glass of white ) was lovely too!

Today has brought more family drama. .. I cant say much JIC 'anyone' is on MN.. It will come out in the wash anyway.. but its going to get worse rather than better.. I am trying to keep out of it , but sadly as an 'estranged' -and possibly principle beneficiary- its just not going to happen.. id rather it all went to cats home

Laska5772 · 05/11/2017 20:16

wreck well at least the tea towel wont show any stains!!

I did Philosophy . Then an IT and communications research post grad .. I went into a Health and Social policy academic research institute straight afterward and now am a research and economic development project person working in Housing in local govt .. Hmm .. I suppose it sort of follows....

I'll soon be a (disgracefully) retired person though!! Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/11/2017 20:53

I didn't do any degree and sit along side those who have, more like me and career civil servants straight from school.

£4 on candy floss at fireworks. The actual fireworks were good. The show surrounding it average. Will try and avoid next year and go to the free one

MissingMo · 05/11/2017 21:03

NSD today. New fridge came this morning and they took a chunk out of the wall delivering it. Angry

Round BIL house this evening with all DPs family and dd. They provided food and fireworks so dinner was all sorted. Came home to no lights working downstairs so contacting estate agent first thing tomorrow. Angry Not a good finish to a good day.

@Cag I found after I'd had dd I had gone off cockles. They used to be a favourite snack of mine before hand but now I'm just not fussed.

Cagliostro · 05/11/2017 21:07

Wreck still waiting to see what your DS painted for the tea towel, couldn't see a photo attached on your post!

I am Shock at strictly dance off and equally Shock at that see through headed fish on blue planet. Yikes.

Cagliostro · 05/11/2017 21:08

My tastes have changed a fair bit I think mo I was thinking I'd be stuffing my face with all the junk food I couldn't eat due to the GD but I still have lots of chocolate untouched #unheardof

SnugglySnerd · 05/11/2017 21:18

I was gobsmacked by SCD result tonight.
Blue Planet was amazing! It must be really scary to go down to the deep ocean like that. Incredible though.

Bedtime. Any bets on how long I get to sleep tonight?!

SunnyLikeThursday · 05/11/2017 21:18

Cag My taste buds went totally bonkers after ds weaned, and three years later I'm still living on super-plain food. I wish I knew what that was. The only mention I've found of it online is as a manifestation of PND, but I'm really quite cheerful. I think anyway.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/11/2017 21:46

I was pretty shocked at the strictly result as well, the judging seems to have gone astray this year. Struggled to stay awake through blue planet, didn't think it was as good as last week. The see through head fish was definitely the highlight Shock

ChristmasSeacow · 05/11/2017 22:25

Also Shock at Strictly result, and very disappointed too. Potential finalist there, I thought.

Snuggly I really hope you have a better night my dad said brandy worked on me back in the 70s

Amazing weight loss Cag. Do you feel better for it? My tastebuds haven't changed since pregnancy but my feet are definitely bigger!

Busy day - friend's baby's birthday party at lunch (bouncy castle for DS- winner!) and then we went to a local fireworks display this evening. It's not too big or crowded, and also just 10 mins walk from home, so works well for us. DS loves fireworks but not the noise at close quarters, so I took his ear defenders... and promptly broke them before it even started . I ended up having to hold them tight to his head myself while the display was on. I guess I'll need to buy a replacement! DD looked very cute in hers and slept through the whole thing.

Such a busy weekend, I am knackered now.

I am in awe of Lonely and Need on the sporty front.
