I was just thinking Fluffy if we made our own detergent we could easily store it in one of these bottles and then it wouldn't need to be in a bucket under the sink. That could be good.

I really like reading those books about cleaning the house in clever ways. It's basically applied chemistry and I find it very interesting.

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/10/2017 13:16

I really like this book too:

How to Get Things Really Flat
A Man's Guide to Ironing, Dusting and other Household Arts

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2017 13:22

Laundry gloop is solid, a lockable plastic box would work.

Old nappy bin?

You can't beat a bucket with an old plate on it.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2017 13:25

Day off today. So far we've been to b&q, bought 4x15m damp proof membrane and a set of hole cutting drills for £0 real money! On my very messy desk I found two gift cards. Wasn't optimistic as I'm rubbish with them, they were both good! £65 in total. This never happens to me!

And £29 in Aldi, just food and some lovely Christmas tupperware that I did NOT need

We've cut the side off the "old" shed (it has a double glazed window in it so worth saving), and moved it and the new space is huge! Lunch was last nights tea, and theres still enough for tomorrow, yay.

sunny is your paypal account linked to a credit card or bank account? Mine is to my normal current account, and I think I've only ever paid a surcharge once, and I use it all the time. It's much more normal to be surcharged for a credit card. Still a right pain in the arse though.

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/10/2017 13:40

I just looked up the paypal website and I think I found out what the problem is.

Apparently I'm not meant to be charged if I buy something, but the seller is charged if I buy something, as shown in the image attached.

I think they must be passing that charge on to me, on some websites, because I suspect it's happening when I click on these "Paypal buttons" that they mention.

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/10/2017 13:57

Weirdly, I just looked through loads of websites with those buttons and I can't lay my hands on one with the 2% message. They're usually everywhere. I just can't quite remember where. Ratso.

Cagliostro · 30/10/2017 14:19

First trip out accomplished! Spendy in Druckers (cake!!!) Boots (maternity pads and tiny hats - just seen your message though snuggly and yes please if that's definitely ok! Thanks) and Primark (smaller baby stuff).

Popped into library and saw lots of old colleagues, lots of fussing over baby and a lot of shock that I'm out and about already. TBF with the other two I was barely out of hospital by this point and thus not out of my jammies. So I am doing quite well. Was feeling it a bit by the time we were heading home though.

Appt went great, MW watched me feed and said she is happy with the latch, hopefully it will keep getting easier. Have to feed every 3hrs for now, and back on sunday for discharge appt. She has lost well under the 10% of birthweight so really happy with that.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2017 14:42

See cag you're a superstar. You just have to believe in yourself a bit! x

LillyLollyLandy · 30/10/2017 15:17

Yay Cag it’s all sounding good! Hope you are feeling happier now Smile

Sunny that would make sense. If I sell something on eBay I’m charged by PayPal for using goods & services. Seems you’re possibly falling foul of sellers choosing to pass the charge on to you.

mammymammyIRL · 30/10/2017 15:40

StarStarEpic catch up post StarStar LillyLollyLandy delighted to have another ynab fan onboard

Cag wonderful news about your dh's interview

My friends dh cancelled going to a stag out of the country so she could go to a hen party, it was lovely to catch up with her & see her little baby can't wait for my first niece/nephew to arrive

Went to hen didn't drink, stayed going until 3.40am, so tired even now.
Think I will continue to be a non drinker. Maybe have one with dinner or a bottle of cider on a hot day but not the heavy drinking on a night out like I used to do. Nothing set in stone just a lifestyle choice.

Love the mummy market concept em my mother told me about my friends mother who has 5 children telling them at school gate one day when she was frustrated that's fine I understand you hate me right now, look around pick any other mammy you think is better and go home with them so

We're still at the stage that dc think I'm the bees knees!

Can't participate in sleep training conversation, dd just did, ds just didn't until he was 2.5 years old tried everything & I was exhausted thanks to loss of blood at birth & two post partum haemorrhages, my biggest was a lot bigger than lonely it's not a competition but the size really alarmed the hospital & showed them that it wasn't just bleeding post birth.

Welcome @Tiddlywinks63 LOL at people knowing what you were up to Smile

Guys just to let ye know when you've a live in au pair and you work and you're ill it's not as luxurious SadGrin

Stayed in my parents last night & was in bed at 8.30pm until 8.30am (several toilet trips) & I'm still tired Shock
Went for a run this morning & visited several neighbours & asked my uncle if I could stay in his house night before my trip to Bermingham, he said yes Grin there was never any doubt Smile 8 miles into my journey realised I left my handbag at my parents & had to turn around Angry

Em 5 hours straight is considered as a baby sleeping through the night which seems horrendous if you're not a parent but 5 hours is a godsend to a new mum

Seacow glad the KFC was good

Em I always put two cotsheets on cot so I could whip off top one & the next one was ready to go

When wreck mentioned groceries my stomach sank but I check internet banking & dh has done it Grin

Great present idea em we purchased a big tv for our parents last year, and stuck to my idea for suitable size, I was wrong their sitting room could handle larger Sad

Girlie sorry to hear you're sick & having anxiety troubles

Fluffy I screenshot your post about cleaning supplies I'm on this thread for years & still learned a lot Grin

I stopped on the road down home & got a hot chicken wrap, this costs €4 in our local centra & is delicious. It was €4.90 and not great AngrySad feeling disappointed but glad I'd bought 6 pack of water on sat as saved buying a drink Smile

Em & fluffy love your tea buying. Dh is a coffee drinker, think I should source something on an offer somewhere as I'm pretty sure Aldi stuff isn't great. Db is a coffee snob & dh would drink tar once it has caffeine in it Grin

Will check out cleanmyspace. Cleaner uses vinegar mainly. I bought 5l whenever she started with us & it's still going but I buy floor cleaner & other bits too.

Need I'm quite happy with Aldi premium wash up liquid unexpectedly Hmm

Fluffy any type of soap or that sunlight household soap? I'm going to try make it. Must source zoflora, I know it's not essential but it might give it a scent. Dh will eyeroll a lot but he normally gets over that when somethihg works out & saves us money Grin

Well done to your dd girlie she's gotten so grown up since ye moved house & going to bigger school hadn't she?
Meadow Flowers** and sympathy is all I can offer

Need wow well done on your race placing, and double prizing!

What channel is EWFL on? Want to see if I can get it online. Tv3 in Ireland have eat shop save which I haven't looked at yet.

Ooh & fluffy you just found a use for the old nappy bin that's been hanging around our house for 2+ years!

Sunny I recently had someone on Facebook wanting me to pay family & friends instead of goods & services, I refused as I'm not covered by PayPal insurance if I did that. She ungraciously accepted my choice!

mammymammyIRL · 30/10/2017 15:42

Every day I've gone running lately runkeeper is giving me new personal records - wonder if it's my diet, time constraints or my fitness that's causing it Grin

SnugglySnerd · 30/10/2017 15:42

Well done Cag. That's fine about hats. I'd be pleased to pass them on. Pm me your address and I'll send them ASAP.

I am very tearful at the moment. I'm hoping it's just tiredness. I am crying at everything! Most unlike me.

Cagliostro · 30/10/2017 16:06

Ah thanks. 💐 Still painful feeding but hopeful we might be improving. Although I did just relatch her and said "please don't hurt mummy this time"... she stuck her middle finger up at me :o

Great going on the running mammy! ⭐️️

Aw snuggly :( wonder what has brought that on, do you ever get affected by winter generally? I often find the clocks changing sends me into despair for no discernible reason

LillyLollyLandy · 30/10/2017 16:22

Hugs snuggly. Can you get a cuppa and a sit down for a few mins?

Great post mammy!

ememem84 · 30/10/2017 16:25

Quick catch up. Will do s proper one later.

mammy so 5 hours is sleeping through?? Ace. My 5 week old slept through!!!

cag well done!! Xx

fluffy I thought laundry gloop would be err gloopy...

Much better day today. I spoke to dm earlier today. She popped in at about 1030. And I’d just had a shower. Ds was sleeping. Hoorah.

She let herself in (Id left door unlocked and told her to come in and pop kettle on) our fruit and an apple pie in the fridge (yay!) and emptied my washing machine and put the next load on. She then knocked on bathroom door to let me know she was here scooped up awake ds (little bugger) and gave him a bottle and sat with him while I sorted laundry and hoovered. We then took him for a walk to their house so he could see df. Who was having issues with the window people (sigh...). We had lunch and then walked back. 4km walked today with ds in the pram. Woop.

I’ve just been to pick up a bundle of 0-3 month stuff I grabbed from fb. £20 for 2 bags of stuff. I messaged seller at stupid o clock this morning and asked whether she’d sell things seperately (I didn’t really need any more onesies but wanted some of the stuff she was selling - she wouldn’t. I can ref make use of things though.

Have listed my newborn stuff on fb too just now.

Ds has just started to get grouchy. But have out him in the magic chair. Hopefully he’ll settle down. He seems a lot better - temperature is way lower than it was and he’s still snuffly but hopefully that will pass.

MeadowHay · 30/10/2017 16:36

Cag Glad you are feeling better and feeding is getting better of new DD, you are a star.

Em Glad DS is recovering, your DM is so kind and helpful.

Don't know anything about PayPal charges, don't think I've ever paid them as a buyer but never sold through it I don't think?

Sickness wise I ended up being referred to the hospital today, my ketosis was not so bad that they wanted to admit me so they injected an anti-sickness medicine and had me on a drip for awhile, only just got home and we left the house at 10.30am to see the GP, mostly just hours of waiting around in the hospital, I am so tired. Have managed to eat a quarter of a sandwich now which is the first thing I've eaten since about 2pm yesterday, absolutely starving! Feel better after the drip as given me some more energy and things but the staff all seem resigned to the fact that I will be this ill at least until the end of the first trimester so I'm really unsure how work are going to respond to that Confused. I've got my sick note for 2 weeks so far, need to scan and send it in as today was my last day of self-certifiying.

WreckTangled · 30/10/2017 16:51

Oh meadow poor you. Glad you’re rehydrated though.

Yay cag well done!

Snuggly have a cry and some cake CakeFlowers

Trying to quickly sort dinner before swimming ds is tired and grouchy poor monkey

Just got a love2shop voucher from market research, it was one where I'd forgotten to do the online version on time so it had already said they'd send someone. And he said we could arrange a time but baby was happy so we just went ahead. £10 for 20mins ain't bad. Plus it was mostly about finances and it was quite satisfying to answer positively and say how things have improved.

That sounds thoroughly shit meadow I'm so sorry you are going through this xxx

Loveabaconsandwich · 30/10/2017 17:05

Sometimes a good cry is what you need snuggly

Glad you have got some treatment meadow and I hope your work are nice to you!

I sent DP a text message full of emojis earlier as it summed up my day 😫😩🙃😧🙄🤧 . I rolled my eyes a lot today (in my head as should not really do it). I also got bbq sauce all over my sweet cookie at lunch time Angry Ha!

ememem84 · 30/10/2017 17:18

meadow so sorrry you’re feeling rubbish and glad you’re feeling s bit better. Take care of yourself xx

needastrongone · 30/10/2017 17:25

Apologies for the brief skim read, been a long day at work.

Wrecked Do you know, I don't know what I shall spend it on, but you have a great point about it not being swallowed up. I'm tempted for some new place mats and runner, posh stuff like Sophie Allport maybe.

Snuggly It's usually tiredness with me is tearfulness. You've had a tough few days.

Christmas How are you? How's DD?

Pink Glad you feel a bit better today. Evenings are the witching hour for sure.

Lily I try to total small spends into annual figures too, but impressed you took anything from home when shattered and with 3 small DC! You sound like you budget like me.

Spends.
£30 on flowers for a client, will claim back.
£45 M&S wine.
£14 feed shop.

Note the deal on M&S wine. Some is on offer online anyway. Buy 2 boxes and 25% discount applies. I got 12 bottles of decent red for £45. Worth a look for Christmas folk.

Mammy Ha - I'm sold on Fairy, would you believe it!

Splitting my spends into weeks is working so far, I'm liking the idea for me personally.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2017 17:26

Meadow You really are having a rubbish first trimester Flowers

Mammy Any soap apart from smart price. I'm using Aldi moisturising soap. No temp under 30 on the machine. The machine & the water do most of the work, the detergents just there to encourage the dirt to loosen.

What amuses me most about modern laundry products is that they've got everyone buying gentle non bio so the children's skin isn't irritated & then sell stain removing powder to deal with stubborn stains made out of....enzymes. Making it a bio product again. That's clever marketing isn't it?.

NSD.

needastrongone · 30/10/2017 17:26

Oh Meadow, bless you again.

Where's Holly these days? Hope you re okay Holly and just busy.

Laska5772 · 30/10/2017 18:09
