New parent wisdom here - when ds is old enough for real food he’s going to eat whatever we do. He will not fuss. He will eat it remind me of this when I’m fighting with him to eat broccolis

My mum and dad used to make us sit at the table until our plates were empty. Or until we’d eaten a sufficient amount. I eat basically everything. Dsis however...fussy as f...

I learned quickly to just eat food. Dsis...still fussy. Dm once tried to implement a “if you don’t eat it at lunch you’ll get it for dinner etc” regime. Dsis once had the same fish fingers for lunch, dinner, breakfast and lunch...

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 19:35

I try to be relaxed around food. They were weaned on what we eat but I think with children there’s a lot of issues over texture which is fine. Mine know that if they don’t like something thats ok but they need to try it. Mine don’t have any additional needs though and I know a friends ds will only eat birdseye chicken nuggets, cheese and crackers. That’s it. It’s getting less and less so I really feel for her it must be so hard. I do get upset though when the dc don’t eat something I’ve spent ages/money on.

Grin sunny for the garden centre santa comment

I told DP about the Lapland trip that was a similar price being advertised on Facebook the other day. He actually laughed at me, followed by a sarcastic comment when I told him the price

I hope you all have a great time when you go wreck

My change of hours still hasn’t been officially approved. The big boss did tell me she has had words with my manager and pointed out I have form for winning appeals on flexible working. On reflection, I don’t think that was actually complimentary to me Hmm

Well done whoever it was who won the competition

Not much variety of DC dinners here either. They are a nightmare with new things and on days I work we don’t even try anything different

lilly this morning I was so impressed when it clicked with me that you work full time, commute a distance and have three DC including a baby! You must be superwoman Star

ChristmasSeacow · 02/11/2017 19:47

I'm definitely not making it a battleground - if he won't eat something then fine, I don't react. (I vent to DH in private though!). The occupational therapist says we need to be careful of giving him only the few restricted foods he wants as ASD kids often go off things they have previously liked and you end up with an even shorter list. It's called food jagging. thry recommend changing one characteristic of 'acceptable' food at a time (so different pasta shape, or different colour or whatever). I can get him on a few different sauces with pasta but am struggling to get him to even try potato or rice things at home, although he eats them at school. So frustrating!

Lonely DS would want peanut butter in a packed lunch, which isn't allowed. In fact the lunchbox police are very active at his school - no crisps, chocolate or unhealthy sandwich fillings allowed! They take it extremely seriously 🙄

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 19:56

Dds school are very relaxed. They’re allowed two unhealthy things in their lunchbox which means dd is saying how unfair it is when she doesn’t get crisps etc as I won’t allow it.

Wreck We had a wedding on a Thursday last year so they could afford the venue Hmm

Over priced prosecco & two white baps with greasy pork that tasted like slow cooked cheap pork shoulder to me. Hog roast my arse I know battery pork when I taste it.

I didn't take a gift.

There's correct days for things & Thursday is not a party night unless it's good Friday the next day.

Cagliostro · 02/11/2017 20:37

OMG DH found smoked duck in Waitrose

I loves him

thewaitresses · 02/11/2017 20:51

Managed a pretty comprehensive basket shop with buggy and three children today - £21.66.

My dd is fairly fussy, again will try most things but won’t eat loads if she doesn’t like it (announced today that our lentil dahl smelt disgusting Hmm it was delicious!!) but we need to get dinner to snack ratio under control. Today she had grapes and two chocolate biscuits after school, pesto pasta for dinner, an apple and yoghurt for pudding and then a banana and honey toast for before bed. Although fairly healthy I’m worried that she’s getting into the habit of having four separate eating occasions between 4pm and bedtime or what feels like constant eating!

needastrongone · 02/11/2017 20:53

Lost track of the thread today, sorry guys.

Frugal wins

  • worked all day and took lunch in.
  • picked up a pile of reduced items in M&S, will reduce my weekly shop to basically a top up shop.
  • bulked up enchiladas with veggies, went further.

Fail
-DH took £200 cash out of the ATM, was supposed to be £100 but I think I can rearrange my budget to accommodate, he fritters though like mad.

Laska5772 · 02/11/2017 20:56

This dot < . > is me place marking.. have fallen off thread again.. but v tired and going to bed.

Home tomorrow awaiting new sofa delivery- v. excited - this is possibly indicative of a sad, small, life, ( but old sofa must be at least 24 yrs old.. ) .. ill post then!

YNAB was £15.49 over last months budget ..not bad since I hadn't kept a proper of it for a couple of weeks..

Laska5772 · 02/11/2017 20:59

My cat is overeating like mad right now..He doesn't usually... sign of a hard winter ? --or just of a piggy?_ (I shall give him worm tabs tomorrow JIC)

SunnyLikeThursday · 02/11/2017 21:02

Thanks Love. I think I really am a bit of a scrooge. I've never been in debt except for briefly having a mortgage, and if I got money like Wreck's getting I'd put it straight in my pension before I got a chance to make eye contact with it.

Annoyingly I've got to the stage where clothes are falling apart again, and sorting that is always expensive. Ratso.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/11/2017 21:03

Mines on his 6th pouch.

Genuinely scared to go into my own kitchen these days. I think it's the cold. It's been pretty mild up to now.

Laska5772 · 02/11/2017 21:04

What do you think? comes with a footstool also..

Fluffy yes Dpusscat is mugging me at every opportunity right now..

needastrongone · 02/11/2017 21:06

Love it Laska, the colour is fab. A real statement.

ememem84 · 02/11/2017 21:15

Love that laksa ours is similar but in that lovely blue grey colour (the colour of a British blue cat - my fave cats - but don’t tell catface)

Spends for tomorrow - £15/20 on naice snacks for dparents. They’re babysitting so dh and I can go out for my fake birthday dinner (a month late) yippee!! Dh is buying dinner and I’m in pre dinner drinks.

Must remember not to get over excited because I imagine Ds will not understand “Mummy has a hangover” also going riding on Saturday - back to the old routine. Yay!!

Ds has been amazing today. He’s slept (not too much) but has slept. And when he’s been awake he’s been super alert. He’s shouted a few times - his new thing is to shout “aaaay” and then smile. We’ve tried tummy time and have had some nice snuggles. Although he did lift his head and look around then lost control of it and smacked me on the cheekbone with it. Ouch!!

mammymammyIRL · 02/11/2017 21:24

Laska5772 · 02/11/2017 21:30

Our old one is like this .(this isnt ours but one i found on net just like it). I don't think the new one will be so snuggly, DH has always disliked the old one ,(which i bought before i knew him) Hence the stylish lines of the new one .. .. it is comfy though ..

mammymammyIRL · 02/11/2017 21:31

Em that regime of same food being served again if you didn't eat it the first time is reason I didn't eat most veg until I went to college & still don't drink milk or eat mash of any description/potatoes/turnip/lamb

mammymammyIRL · 02/11/2017 21:31

Love your new sofa laska

Laska5772 · 02/11/2017 21:32

Cagliostro · 02/11/2017 21:38

Amazing sofa!!! (I love British blue cats too)

SunnyLikeThursday · 02/11/2017 21:43

It seems like yesterday that we started this thread and it's nearly finished. :-) Nice to have such chatting.

AdoraBell · 02/11/2017 21:46

I love the new style sofa 👍

em I decided to not force anything with food and when I wanted to introduce a new thing I gave the DDs something familiar and I had the new thing. Curiosity won over most days and they happily wolfed down “my” lunch 😁

Star for MrCag on the smoked duck.
