Em. Went to Sorrento in 2015. Wonderful. Our first time in a luxury hotel. I spent the whole time gawping at the luxury. DH was embarrassed. I got used to it in the end......Grin. We did Pompeii (amazing and thought provoking) and Vesuvius but we only stayed for a week and it was such an amazing place. Plus I want to sample the wine and food..
How you feeling?

I worked in Venice for a year when I was in my early 20's. I jacked in my job (stressful, long hours, I was in pension fund management) and just did it. Best year of my life, made me grow up, amazing experience but how the fuck I just did it on my own without thing about it I don't know. When I got back, my manager phoned me, offered me a promotion and a 5k pay rise if I came back. Win, win he he but I didn't know that at the time, just couldn't see me sitting at a desk until I was 60..

North Your holiday sounds lovely. Just as lovely.

Whose DC are on half term? Ours is next week?

Needastrongone · 13/02/2017 22:01

*thinking, damn phone.

Needastrongone · 13/02/2017 22:06

DD = Prom dresses. Oh lord.....she keeps sending me links... it's such s big thing now..

Tryingtosaveup · 13/02/2017 22:15

Tha is for the new thread Ipso.
Blimey, I turn my back for a few hours (cutting wood for the fire all day) and I've missed 5 pages and there is a new thread.
Off to catch up
NSD which is just as well after laptop.

Needastrongone · 13/02/2017 22:19

ps - oh for the confidence (arrogance) of youth again eh? Smile

AdoraBell · 13/02/2017 23:53

Just tried to update on the other thread Blush

Had the plumber out tonight, burst pipe in the loft. He'll be back in the morning. DD2 is hoping her ceiling gives way so she can have a new one without artex. I'm hoping it holds as we can't afford to replace it.

Wreck I think you should go with the advice from HR.

Thanks for the new thread Ipso Thanks

Ipsomatic · 14/02/2017 02:18

Thanks for the advice about the Explosive Child book. I've ordered it too.

We're on half term this week and having a very relaxing, hibernating kind of holiday.

Do you all veg during half term or do you all zoom about having exercise and sunshine? I can't figure out whether rest is good enough or whether I'm meant to be sweeping everybody out of the house to get their Vitamin D. Dh and ds went out for a walk this afternoon but they're perfectly happy doing lego in front of the tv.

Half term next week here. Mix of doing nothing and holiday club. Dh away so I'm juggling it all.

Prom = not frugal

I would love to go back to Italy . Rome is so beautiful. Will investigate Pompeii and amalphi

Needastrongone · 14/02/2017 06:26

Half term next week for us, not sure if we are out of synch or normal.

Do what works for you Ipso, simples!

mammymammyIRL · 14/02/2017 06:51

Half term here next week - I'm working but taking dc to my brothers & his wife's for the weekend this weekend instead. Dd has week off, ds in preschool has just two days off

ememem84 · 14/02/2017 07:14

need felt sick all day yesterday. But so far today so good.

I adore Italy. Venice and Rome and Florence and sorrento and the lakes. Oooh I want to go back!!!

WreckTangled · 14/02/2017 07:25

Thanks everyone will go with the advice from HR. Have filled in and sent off occupational health form. Need to get photos for id badge.

I'm at work. Have a sore throat this morning.

Hopefully you'll get a day off today em, it happens sometimes.

Happy Valentines Day to you all! Ours got off to a romantic start: The cat woke us up at 5am and then DD had soiled her nappy (she still wears them for bed) and decided to take it off in her bed. DH cleaned DD while I stripped the bed, lovely! He has now rushed off to work and I didn't have time to give him his card.
Supermarket today, list has got a bit longer than I'd hoped.

ememem84 · 14/02/2017 08:01

wreck I totally misread your post. I thought you meant day off as in stay at home day off. I was thinking work aren't just going to hand those out...!! But then Realised what you meant!!

Feeling much better today. Smile so far

I'm buying a sandwich at lunchtime today. Haven't done that for ages. So am excited!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/02/2017 08:13

Thank you Ipsos

Yesterday was;

£15 petrol
£2 card
£23 whisky for Dh Valentine surprise present (he was very surprised)

mammymammyIRL · 14/02/2017 08:26

Aww snuggly that's awful.

SnugglySnerd · 14/02/2017 08:33

It wasn't a great start to the day, mammy! Thanks for flask link btw.

mammymammyIRL · 14/02/2017 08:40

I remember when dd was toilet training this happened to her during a nap time and she tried to disguise it. It was all over her body and on the walls but none in her nappy so she achieved her goal of hiding what she'd done Hmm
No worries, the food he bought yesterday for himself would be perfect in a food flask, but I bought him one of those before and he didn't use it Hmm

SnugglySnerd · 14/02/2017 08:48

I'm thinking of getting DH one for his birthday as he likes to take a flask on a day out. I could use it while I'm on mat leave to save boiling the kettle for drinks several times a day.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/02/2017 08:48

Morning!

DH done good (see picture). I am a cheap date Wink.

Really in the mood for cleaning today!

Not your kind of cleaning though Snuggly. A lovely wake-up call, that.

Just found out my colleague who's on paternity leave will be back for a week next week, he is the only one who can cover my job, and be off again for 2 weeks after that. I'm travelling 4 hours to see family this Friday night & returning Sunday, now I can take a day's holidays on Monday and make it a 3 night trip, travel back in daytime monday and shorten dd's midterm for her too [happy] 2/23 days holiday used in 2017!

ChristmasSeacow · 14/02/2017 08:50

Oh, and DS and i made a card for DH yesterday with potato print hearts. I asked DS to draw in it today. Usually he just scribbles but today he wrote 'bucket' Grin

DH was very touched, if a little perplexed.

mammymammyIRL · 14/02/2017 08:52

Ooh seacow salted caramel whips sound divine. No M&S near me but there's one in the town my db lives near, where we are at the weekend, are they good?

Db offered to take dc to cinema on Sat afternoon and said I can use the free time to go shopping, shopping isn't my thing and obviously being on this thread and paying down debt it's not a priority. Going to go for a nice run and explore his local countryside instead.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/02/2017 08:55

Mammy they are lovely. Normal whip stuff up to the top of the pyramid, where there is a layer of yummy salted caramel. Chocolate-covered hazelnut on top. Mmmmm.
