Hi hope u dont mind me joining in this thread.
Im new to frugaling and seriously need to buck my ideas up especially now we're expecting again. We already have 2 and in some debt which we are working to get out of so any frugal help will go along way xxx

mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2017 01:19

JoMummy of course you're welcome here xx

WreckTangled · 22/01/2017 06:45

Welcome Jo

Adora I'm so pleased teddy seems to be making such a good recovery what lovely dogs

Spinning this morning. Dh will take the dc to the soft play and no doubt get a coffee etc but he will pay. I've decided to change my food shop day to Monday as taking both dc was ruining my life so I need to pop to tesco today as we literally don't have any food. I don't know what to get though as I don't want to get too much but need packed lunch bits for dd tomorrow and lunch today. Hmm maybe bread cheese and strawberries.

confusedandemployed · 22/01/2017 07:19

Welcome Jo I'm newish too.

Adora what lovely woofers! Glad Teddy's on the mend.
Need I feel for you, giving up Dpony. He really does sound like a high responsibility though.

Yesterday spends:
£4 entry to soft play. Paid in cash.
£6.75 breakfast at soft play. I was starving, I've never eaten there before. That included drink and sweets for DD so very good value and delicious.
£3 taxi home from friend's last night. DH paid.

Today is the Lidl shop plus pet shop for DDog. I anticipate no more than £30.

mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2017 07:42

My head & my wallet hurt! Night out with dh, bil & his fiancé. €90 for meal & drinks, dh gave me €30 of it. That's all he could afford, that's fine. We came home & drank two more glasses of wine after coming home Confused

I ran my first 5k of 2017 yesterday, it was fabulous out, calm peaceful & crisp.

Hairdresser €30 for dd & I
€3.80 posting a booklet to a friend in Oz.

Frugaleers, keeping their frugal resolutions in the new year. Keep on, erm, resoluting!?
mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2017 07:50

Can't have been an easy decision with pony need

Congrats on pregnancy jo we've a few expectant mums snuggly & seacow

Em good luck with hair dye

I also bought newspaper yesterday so will read about the speech there AngrySad

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/01/2017 08:01

Welcome Jo
I know you said a few people on the pony circuit were interested in dpony need. One last season sounds fun though.
In going to body pump in a bit so need to get a move on.

Awesome about teddy dog Adora.

ememem84 · 22/01/2017 08:51

I'm up at this ungodly hour in a Sunday....!! Out of bed and am making breakfast. Pain au choc croissants and pain au raisins all in the oven. All "homemade" obviously. By homemade I mean we buy them frozen and I've bunged them in the oven!!

Coffee is on.

It should be nsd today. I have to book some more places to stay in nz but won't have to pay for them until we check out so technically nsd.

I'm nervous about the hair dye. It should in threory be simple. It's the John Frieda deeper brunette stuff. Supposedly just shampoo pop it in leave for 5/10 minutes and wash and condition.

However it doesn't say how much to use. The. Title is good for one use apparently. But it also says something like - good for x amount of washes. The reviews I've read said that a bottle did three applications. Aaaaah. It's so confusing. This is why I never do this.

I'm going. For about half I think. It's just to colour the highlighted bits of mybhair to give it a more of a deeper colour.

If it doesn't work (or all goes horribly wrong) I'll make an appointment at my hairdressers for the darker colour.

mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2017 09:11

Once all your hair is saturated in colour you should be good em I don't think you can use too much because your hair will only absorb what it can anyhow but too little and your colour could be patchy. Comb it through when you're finished applying.

We're going walking later & litter picking

northender · 22/01/2017 09:29

ShockShockneed I'm sure it'll be the right decision though, but will seem strange for a while.
Em pain au raisin is our favourite breakfast when we're in France, enjoy.
Glad Teddy is improvingAdora

Here, decorating of the loft room started on Friday. Just the ceiling so far but exciting.
Started a new quilt yesterday which I'm hoping will be fab and is going to be for our bedroom.
Dh going to tip today with more stuff, still clearing out!
Need to meal plan & probably do a top up shop.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 22/01/2017 09:30

Lovely dogs Adora that leg looks to be healing up really well.

I'm too much of a wuss to attempt home dying Em I have a friend who comes over and helps me Blush

Still in bed, just had a chocolate croissant for breakfast - yum!

Think today will be a quiet one as dd is full of cold and it is freezing out!! May pop to Sainsburys to get a couple of bits to make smoothies with, am thinking they are a good way to get some vitamins into dd.

Have organised some stuff to try and sell on a couple of fb sites later and need to try and get on top of the housework unlikely

SnugglySnerd · 22/01/2017 09:33

Welcome, Jo. I'm pregnant too and starting to panic slightly about how we'll manage financially when I'm on mat leave. When is your baby due?

Pleased to see Teddy is doing so well, Adora.

You'll be sad to say goodbye to the pony won't you, Need? Does your DD intend going to uni? A few of my friends gave up their ponies when they went to uni. One loaned hers so she could still ride him in the holidays.

We had pancakes for breakfast with blueberries, bananas, kiwi and yoghurt. Delicious.

Haven't felt the babies yet this morning. Going to see if a shower wakes them up and if not phone the hospital. Wish me luck!

Brightermornings · 22/01/2017 09:41

Thank you everyone for your messages of support. Today should be a nsd I paid for my hotel bill yesterday. The do was excellent 4 course meal plenty of wine well for me I'm not a massive drinker these days. I can't handle the hangover!!
Today's money jobs:
Car ins quotes
Get some stuff listed on eBay/Facebook.
Em good luck with the hair dye I've never coloured my own hair . I think the hair dyes you buy now are decent I'm sure it will look great.

ememem84 · 22/01/2017 09:44

Thank so guys. I'm going in. Will report back.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/01/2017 10:37

Em home colouring is pretty easy these days. As pp said make sure you use plenty and comb through. Leave it for the time stated so the reactions can do their thing.
If all else fails washing your hair in fairy liquid will strip it out. Blonde hair (bleached) is quite porus but natural hair not so much so you will still see differences in colour after you have finished.

Snuggly hope those babies have woken up.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/01/2017 10:38

£4.80 body pump and parking

ememem84 · 22/01/2017 10:47

I've done it. Just out of the longest hottest shower ever.

Shampooed. Colour stuff on. Pinned it up. Shaved legs exfoliated body and face. Frigged about with body oil stuff (free sample from jo Malone). Washed out. Conditioned and then had a fail. I only have WHITE towels.

My nails have gone a bit grey....I hope the towel is ok...hair is up in towel at present. Dh has already commented about the towel colour....oopsy. Should have dug out my beach towel.

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 22/01/2017 11:01

Morning all. I've been enjoying reading peoples updates. I think I'm starting to work out who is who.

I've had quite a spendy few days. £15 on top up food on Friday and yesterday I went for a day trip with dd which was £30 entrance and £10 on gloves as I forgot ours. Duh.

I'm waiting in for a Waitrose delivery (paid by John Lewis vouchers - possibly a waste!) and am going to make a batch of stew in the slow cooker and some bolognese too.

I've got £210 in my current account and £35 in my wallet. Pay day is in 9 days. It'll have been 5 whole (long!) weeks between paydays. I've still got my phone bill to pay but there are no other big planned purchases that I can think of.

CremeEggThief · 22/01/2017 11:46

Any movement yet, Snuggly?

Woke up feeling dreadful. Throat, chest, head, feeling hot, then shivery, even tummy...Ugh! Just had some Ibuprofen, coffee and the last of the Ikea cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I'm going back to bed.

ememem84 · 22/01/2017 11:53

I think it worked. The lighter bits are less light. I may have also used up a lot of hot water.

WreckTangled · 22/01/2017 12:09

Just got back from spinning. First time in about six months I thought I was going to die but I didn't! 💪🏾💪🏾 my hips were agony though. I've taken a cocktail of prescription pain meds and so might need a nap after lunch..

£17 tesco. Ffs. Never mind at least we have some food I'll try to make tomorrow's shop as cheap as possible.

Hope those naughty babies are awake now snuggly

mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2017 12:40

Creme feeling so sorry for you right now it's a nasty dose

Been out with bil's fiancé and my dc picking litter off the roadside near our house, we walked half a mile & gathered 5 bin bags of rubbish

Em are you happy with it? Oh oh re the towel!!!
Snuggly hope you've felt movement by now
Monkey it's takes time to figure us all out but we're worth it WinkGrin

mammymammyIRL · 22/01/2017 12:42

Used all my cash last night paying for dinner, also didn't go to butchers yesterday so will go to local Centra shop & buy something for dinner & get cash back to pay school bus, cleaner & dds dance class.

CremeEggThief · 22/01/2017 12:52

Thanks Mammy. I thought I might have managed to ward it off, as I had a great sleep Friday night and stayed in all day yesterday with lots of rest, but evidently not.Sad DS had a day off school on Monday with it, but has been grand since then. Wish it worked like that for me!

Taytocrisps · 22/01/2017 12:59

DD woke me with this morning with the lovely news that the power had gone off and we'd no electricity. I vaguely remember getting a card from the ESB at some point notifying me of this and thinking, "Oh, that's ages away". I was very tempted to nip down to my local Centra and get a take away coffee but I resisted. It's just come back now so I'm relishing a coffee and my internet. Hopefully the house will start to heat up soon.

Three of my nephews have birthdays in January. Arrghh!
