Thought I would start a new one since the old one is full!

Have fun NK! Earl of sandwich does the most amazing toasted sandwiches they were delicious. Eat before 12 and after 2 for it to be quieter. If you want to see a parade queue 45 minutes before. The fast passes are really good and free so look up how to do those.

Ursulatodd · 13/08/2015 20:01

NK have an amazing time at Disney! take some empty bottles to fill with water, maybe some of those squash squeezers, and that should save a fair bit.

adora my mum is the same. She's got better with presents for me and DH after years of gentle ribbing about the awful tat but still buys tonnes of stuff for DD.

Today's spends: £22.65 tescos shop - I only came out with 2 small bags for that Shock (DH insists on branded toiletries Angry )

Frugal wins: really challenged myself and didn't turn on any lights until 5pm! collie it was really weird, I felt decidedly unmotivated, I think I may be addicted to artificial light!; took a bag of old clothes to C4C - £4; made another Jack Monroe recipe - mixed bean goulash - served with wraps, avocado, cheese, salad and lime. Delicious and enough left for lunch tomorrow.

AdoraBell · 13/08/2015 20:03

Hope you all have a great time at Disney NK

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/08/2015 20:08

Erm, have a lovely frugal time at Disney, NK. Grin

£3.25 in Boots on a sandwich and drink yesterday and £7.65 in the chippy on the way home from work. Fell off the frugal wagon a bit after the NSDs at the beginning of the week. Really, really need to get out of this habit of buying food on the way home from work. That might be the goal until payday.

peppapissinpig · 13/08/2015 20:15

Have a great hol NK

'Crab ladder' Pointless!! ????????????naaaice

lilacclery · 13/08/2015 20:20

I've pages & pages to catch up....I've been busy studying ynab ... Haven't spent any money since I last posted. Hi to everyone will catch up on your news soon

needastrongone · 13/08/2015 20:27

Crab ladder is GROSS!!!

My day has been spendy beyond any reasonable belief.

£300 - horse box service and new battery, wouldn't start this morning, service was booked in.
£90 - diesel
£75 - Primark. In fairness, a quite ridiculous amount of clothes for the DC. Most in the sale, as if Primark ain't cheap enough already! All for the holiday.
£5 - parking.

DS needs school running trainers and DD new PE kit. DD needs fitting for new bras.

I do not budget at all well for September expenses.

Laska42 · 13/08/2015 20:30

We didnt do any Christmas presents at all last year ( except for DGS and DGD, DS and DD are both adults ) it was such a relief . I was £3000 in debt and just couldnt afford it , (neither did I want to admit to DH I was that much in debt Blush) I just said I'd had enough of Christmas..my folks dont think much of it anyway and we just concentrated on the nice food as a celebration

Have paid it all off now thanks to YNAB and the support of this thread..

Not sure if ill be able to get away with it again, as Dh has mentioned that we should do more since but who knows now that a precident has been set.... It was just so much better not getting involved in it all though

Welcome ( a bit late ) to ursula

and have a great holiday NK .. Ill be making your Chinese aubergine and maybe the pork recipe this weekend.

I only spent £2.60 today (a bit of a result I think!)

Whatabout · 13/08/2015 20:30

I've been told off by DH. Yesterday i ordered some toasted sandwich bags and a bumper case for the iPad so my DS can use it more. He was very cross when they arrived as they were both totally unnecessary spends. I daren't tell him I spent £25 in hobby craft on the porcelain painting pens for my crafting. I'm planning to use them to make cheap Christmas presents but he won't be happy. I need to find £25 or take them back I think.

Also spent £8 in waitrose, chicken for dinner, sour cream for diner, a birthday card and some fudge for me as I felt funny. Reminded me I must go to card factory and stock up on cards for the year.

Lucie99 · 13/08/2015 20:38

Low spend day Smile. £4.00 on a new pair of plimsolls for my child and £4.00 on some items to make picnic tomorrow. Hoping the weather improves as we've planned a day out at a theme park.

Pointlessfan · 13/08/2015 21:04

I didn't make it up, everyone I know calls it that! I must be mixing in the wrong circles Grin
Enjoy Disney NK we're off to Wales tomorrow, just done picnic for journey.

oliveobsessed · 13/08/2015 21:06

Unplanned £30 at tesco but £17 on clothes that going back.
£10 on a highchair for my mums house for LO should have been £100 new

lilacclery · 13/08/2015 21:17

We've just had the nicest weather of the entire 'summer' today I hope those storms don't make it across the water!

Never heard anyone call that area anything before must bring it up with friends next time we're out!

I've been reading one of the mumsnet Classic threads & studying ynab in my usual mn time!

sweetkitty · 13/08/2015 22:23

NK - we did Disney this year we got the meal plan so loaded to with breakfast from the hotel, even made rolls for a picnic (everyone did it) Blush we took bottles of water too. We got a teatime snack at 3 drink and a donut then dinner. The worst thing is all the shops and pestering DC!

I have a rechargeable carpet sweeper, it's brilliant and my two year old likes to have a go!

lilacclery · 14/08/2015 05:59

Anyone here have an ecar? My next car is a few years away as plan to save for it rather than get a loan but Irish government giving grants off the price of them currently.
A charge lasts 100km however my parents live 200k away so it would mean adding an hour to an already almost 3hour journey for charging or I guess I could swap cars with au pair when visiting there.

babsmam · 14/08/2015 06:32

Pointless it's called crab ladder around here too

they sound good collie the monthly repayments are low and you've no fuel costs either. Not sure what insurance costs are like though.
I'm into recycling, reusing etc as all us frugaleers are!

When building our house I insisted we went to a renewal energy show and we got solar panels and a wood pellet boiler as a result, dh wasn't keen on even going to the show and is thrilled with both of them. I wonder is this the next stage for me....

I'm following a thread on an irish forum where someone has one to see what I can find out about them.

Whatabout · 14/08/2015 08:22

Nissan over here do a deal whereby if you need a bigger / longer distancing car then you can have one for so many weekends a year. Or they were last time I looked at a leaf, maybe worth seeing if anyone is doing that?

catlass · 14/08/2015 08:23

Have an amazing time at Disney NK.
Yesterday spent 10 quid on butter, apples, raspberries, grapes and bread. It is grey, raining and miserae here today. Going to have a housey day with the DC. Might bake a crumble. Hopefully a NSD.

peppapissinpig · 14/08/2015 08:24

Morning, def shift in weather here today do I smell autumn?

DD has blackout curtains in her room but they don't really do the job. She can't have a blind due to the type of window; was wondering if anyone has bought any of those blackout products you can stick straight into the glass? Or any other cheap, practical solutions??

peppapissinpig · 14/08/2015 08:24

Strike through fail Grin
