What temp do you have your heating set to?

21. It's a well insulated house with a new boiler and the heating doesn't kick in that often though.

DH would have it at 15 if I let him. I turn it up to 16.5 and wrap up in lots of layers, DH turns it down to 16 so we're in this 0.5 degree battle.

His view is that he'd rather spend our money on things for us and not give it to the gas / electric company. I would like to have it set at 18 degrees. We do have decent insulation and most of the rooms have new double glazing to reduce draughts.

6-8am and 3-9pm 20 degrees

8am-3pm 16 degrees and 5 degrees at night.

I end up putting it on through the day when it gets cold because I work from home and on a weekend it's on more through the day.

20 for an hour and a half in the morning and a couple of hours or longer in the evening when we're all home. On as and when it's needed really. DH would have it down at 16 if he could, the teens would have it up at 26/28 as opposed to putting on actual clothes, so 20 is a compromise. We're in Scotland where it's cold

It's just been put on, set at 13 but when it gets colder put up to 15, timed twice a day. We have blankets on the sofa to snuggle under, none of the bedroom radiators are on.

Thanks all. I've just set mine to 18, but I'll aim to turn it lower if I can handle that. I've also set up the timer to come on and go off at various times. I'm fairly sure our thermostat is broken so I'll be checking with the thermometer...

It's a big draughty old house that is still waiting for secondary glazing so even half a degree can make a difference, money-wise.

The thermostat is in the hall and I suspect other rooms get warmer than that when the doors are kept shut. I would like to get a thermometer to measure the actual temperature as I do wonder how accurate the thermostat is.

20 but for limited amounts of time. No one home during working week. I am lucky that my body temperature runs warm naturally!

'Coal or logs' setting! We don't have central heating but it's surprising how much you can control how much heat a stove kicks out!

It doesn't bother me as we're always moving about, I only feel the cold if I'm sitting still.

When we turn it on, probably not for another few weeks, we keep it at 15/16.
I'm currently under a blanket with a hot water bottle.
But we lived with single pain windows and no central heating for a few years so it toughened us up.
My mum always complains when she visits and refuses to take her cost off. She keeps hers at 30 and only turns down to 15 if she's going to be out the house.

At least 23. All the rads are on individual thermostats though, so in the bedrooms they are on low, higher downstairs. I feel the cold!

On for a few hours in the morning and then again in the evening, and set at about 15, unless DC2 gets at it.

This is not as heroic as it sounds as the thermostat is in the cold and draughty hall, so the other rooms warm up quite nicely. Our bedroom rad is off, though, and the DCs' are meant to be turned down to economy, but I expect DC2 (yes, the one who messes with the thermostat when she thinks I might not notice) has hers up at thermonuclear. She has the warmest room in the house anyway...

I freeze my arse off working at home in the day, and sometimes resort to heating one room only. Old houses: lovely, till the winter bites and the gas bill comes in.
