Just been reading the Aldi thread and got huffy - it sounds like they have lots of lovely stuff, but we don't have one. We do have a Lidl though.... just as good?

What should I buy?

At this time of year it's all about the stollen bites for me.

The amazing no clove garlic. Where the bulb is just one whole clove. Comes on little baskets. It makes life so much easier.

I love Lidl's chocolate and their own brand sweets are great value. Just tried their own version of Baileys (was on offer for about £4.30ish) and it's delicious! Don't think it will last long (eyes up bottle and considers one more glass before bed). I'd not do a full weekly shop in there but they really do have some bargains. I used to laugh at my MIL being such a fan of LIDL (I had visions of it being like a bleak third world warehouse!) but I've become a real convert now.

The washing liquid, think it's called Formil is brilliant. I had to buy Sainsbury's version recently and it was crap in comparison, didn't get the stains out of clothes and smelled awful.

Bakery is fantastic, better than any other in store bakery I think. Love the antipasto jars of veg.

Can i just say two words? Chocolate twists.

They on their own are worth a visit

I'm a lidl convert I love their hazelnut chocolate, fruit and veg. It's more interesting than shopping at the big 4 supermarkets and the price is good too. The only thing I don't like is their are often mistakes on the receipt (over & under charged ) it takes a while to sort out.

Oops wrong there

I like thrir bakery items, fresh veg, their own cereals, especially the muesli, most of the cold cuts, cheeses and yogurts. Fruit juices and squash.I do buy the fresh meat but I love the frozen (the lamb chump chops amazing quality and value) Their version of chicken nuggets are brill, actual lumps of coated chicken breastfeeding rather than reformed crap. I also use their own brand toiletries and have to be strict with myself about the wine, lol. The only thing I find really dissapointing is their cat and dog food- small boxes at relatively high price, so get that elsewhere. Watch out for in pulse buys in treasure aisle tho!!
